When my friend first arrived at Gorseland last year there were a few gaps in communication between staff/management. These seem to have ben resolved. I am impressed with the. time and trouble, the staff go to, to ensure a pleasing, friendly atmosphere. They go the extra mile to decorate the lounges and dining room for various occasions. ie. Valentines Day tea party. The care staff are approachable and do that best to make the residents lives fullfulling and meaningful.
Staff always friendly and helpful compasionate and careing. The whole place has a happy atmosphere with laughter, music and good natured banter. My wife (in the dementia unit) is very, very well looked after. She is in the best place for her needs. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Bright and colourful. Management team always ready to answer questions, offer help and advice.
I find the home welcoming, friendly and the needs of the residents well catered for. It is bright, light and situated in a lovely location. All the staff are competent, lovely and friendly. The home is well run and maintained.
The care given to my mother from the moment she entered Gorselands until her death was exemplary. The staff always put residents at the centre. They were kind caring and wonderful social activities were arranged when she was able to take advantage of them. When she deteriorated the staff were caring and attentive. The nursing care was second to none. The communication with myself was very good. The last years of my mother's life were much less painful knowing she was so well cared for.
I have found the care and attention given to residents of Gorselands to be second to none. They are very attentive and supportive to the needs of my mother and I always find the staff to be very helpful and informative.
My husband was in Gorselands for 4 months and he was always treated with kindness, consideration and respect. The choice and quality of food were very good and were adapted to meet his needs. The management was very "hands-on" and approachable and the staff were always cheerful, patient and caring. Nothing was too much trouble and no question was left unanswered. There was a good range of daily activities for residents. Gorselands is in a lovely setting, with great management and caring staff.
The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The room was clean and tidy. I could not fault the high standard of care our relative is receiving.
The staff are excellent. The rooms are well-furnished and clean. The food selection is superb and well-cooked and presented. All in all this care home is the best around.
Mum was in this delightful care home for one week. Mum and the whole family received excellent care and support throughout. Management and staff were efficient and absolutely caring. A beautiful setting with a home-from-home feel.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Good communication from the team. Very good medication and observations record system. I am assured that my father is receiving good care. All the staff I have spoken to are professional and compassionate. The environment is homely and well-maintained. My father's room is nice, clean and comfortable.
I cannot thank all the staff enough for the care, compassion and support to all the staff who looked after my mother. The biggest pity of all was she didn't spend enough time at Gorselands. Thank you very much.
Lovely big house in a beautiful forest location. Mum loves watching the squirrels and birds feeding outside her bedroom window and conversing with the other residents. The staff are so attentive to residents' needs and the activities girls engage the residents in all sorts from painting to gardening, singing to exercise.
I came to Gorselands in need of a rest and from the relief of looking after my husband who is not a well man. From the very first moment, we received such care and kindness that made our time here very special. The staff go out of their way to help and care for us both, there is an absence of rigidity in all they do which makes it possible to ask the slightest favour. Our rooms are so comfortable, equipped with all mod cons and I shall review my tie here with great pleasure always.
Gorselands has taken care of my late father and when my mum needed care it was a very easy decision for us to make as a family to place Mum in your care. Thanks for all of the wonderful and attentive care you provide Mum, your staff do a fantastic and caring job in not always easy conditions. It puts us at ease knowing Mum is in good hands as it did for our late father. I like the fact that you ask for reviews and listen and make improvements for your residents, relatives and staff.
Very caring and wonderful staff, looked after me well. Nothing was too much bother, everything was done to help me and make me comfortable.
Fantastic care home with the great staff and very caring individuals. Set in an area of heath and woodland with great views. Nice walks if you want to leave the care home and the food is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and end up being part of the family. They look after my mother really well and I look forward to coming in and seeing them. My father was in the care home for about 4 to 5 years and my mother came in here once for a respite and the second time more permanently, and I’ve always found it very hospitable, caring, and welcoming.
I visit the home at least once a week and always look forward to my visits. I always receive a warm welcome and keep updated regarding any changes or needs. Many of the residents recognise me and accept me but due to poor memory retention, they don't know my name. All the staff are friendly, courteous, and respectful, and generally, they exhibit a high level of care.
In 2017 my wife suffered a severe stroke leaving her paralyzed on her left side and loss of speech. The care staff have to do most things including "personal" for her. Since choking while eating she is monitored while she eats. All this care is done with smiles and good humours. I have always found the home clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Except during COVID, I have been free to visit when I want and with our dogs until they died. Although not a resident the staff sang Happy Birthday and gave me a cake. I would certainly recommend Gorselands to other people.
Gorselands Nursing Home provided a safe environment for my mother to spend her final 18 months. She was well cared for and made good friendships with the members of staff. She enjoyed going out in the mini-bus for trips to the sea and into the national park. She had company and that was important to her. She told me that the food was good and she enjoyed a glass of wine with her lunch. Her room was kept clean and many people would pop in and see her as her room was on the way to the dining room. She loved the gardens and enjoyed the fetes and activities that were laid on for residents. All in all I could not have wished for a better place for her to spend her final years. She was happy at Gorselands and often told me that. This provided great peace of mind for me.
