View Full Details of Northcott House Residential Care and Nursing HomeEverywhere was very neat and tidy and smelled fresh and clean. Mum's room was very clean and tidy. The new portable indoor chair is much better than a wheelchair. We had pre-booked the 'Dining Room' and we valued the care that the carer working the morning had laid up the table beautifully for our lunch. It all felt calm and all staff greeted us warmly as we walked past.
Our father was admitted very recently and in the short time he has been at Northcott House Residential Care and Nursing Home, I have been touched at the care and kindness he has received from all the staff here. Everyone has made dad and the family welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you to you all!
My husband is being well looked after in Northcott House Residential Care and Nursing Home, and all his needs are met. The staff are kind and helpful and available. He can do as he wishes and most days he is happy to be taken into the spacious lounge to take part in a quiz. His room is nice and comfortable and I can visit any time, and join him for lunch frequently, which is home cooking. I have peace of mind, knowing that he is contented.
What a lovely bunch of people at Northcott House. My mother wasn't with them for long, unfortunately, but she was treated with dignity and respect even after passing away. Everybody that I came across, from the manager to the cleaners, were all very friendly and helpful and after Mum passed away I was treated with compassion and was not made to rush to empty the room. Can not fault Northcott and would love to say a big thank you to all the staff mum may not have been with you for long, but it was a comfort to know she was being cared for in her last days.
My wife has been a resident at Northcott House for 19 months. In that time I have seen a number of changes in the running of the home. It is now a warm and comfortable home with very good staff and facilities. There had been an issue with the lunchtime food not being as hot as it should have been. Thanks to the management team of three particular staff members, the dining room is now very well organised and the food is hot and plentiful. Well done to all concerned.
My Mum has been at Northcott House for 2 years and 9 months. Earlier this year new management came on board at the home and everything has improved so much. The home is beautifully clean in the rooms and the communal areas. The gardens are kept so well and is a lovely setting to sit outside and spend time with Mum. The staff are so friendly and always smiling, they look after my Mum so well and I am so grateful for all that they do, this includes all the staff that work at the home, not just the wonderful carers. The activities staff are full of care and enthusiasm and organise lots of great activities for the residents, including taking them out for lunches and other events, which is really beneficial for my Mum. I feel so happy knowing Mum is safe and being cared for well. Thank you to this recent management for making such fabulous improvements.
Northcott House is based in a very pleasant quiet area In Alverstoke. It has a beautiful area out front which is spacious and also well-protected. The garden is lovely as are the lounges, game room I noticed with a smaller pool table, conservatory and Dining room which reminds me of Pebbles at Stokes Bay. My dad arrived at Northcott House in May. Dad was made to feel welcome as soon as he arrived, he has since changed rooms with a garden view and when I asked if this was possible at any point it was met without hesitation. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff from the manager, care workers, maintenance, catering and activities. I feel much happier now I know my dad has started to come out of his shell and is well looked after and that is down to the staff, who often take him on walks which he loves. During the 20 months or so my husband was resident in Northcott House. He was treated with kindness, gentleness, respect, dignity and patience. He was not always the easiest resident due to his illness. I could visit at any time and was always made welcome by the carers and other staff who always had a smile. I was phoned if anything was amiss, likewise if he had a particularly good day. If I have a question about the care at any time it was dealt with quickly and rectified. I believe my husband was happy at Northcott as was I. Northcott stuck me as a happy and friendly home.
My mum has been a resident of Northcott since April 2024 and although I always found most staff to be friendly and helpful I did have my concerns on some matters. After the concerns raised from the last inspection, there have been lots of very noticeable improvements made by the new management and there is a more positive vibe around the home. The level of personal care for my mum has definitely improved, she eats very well and is looked after well by all the staff. Residents have the opportunity to join in with more stimulating activities and they have also been making use of the garden in the nice weather.

My Mother was not treated with the respect that she deserved. Some of the staff were brilliant and really helped and really cared, whilst others could not have cared less. Her needs were not met satisfactorily. The management lacked basic compassion, they did not listen to any concerns or worries that we raised with them. The management was cold and unfeeling. We as a family found some of their behaviour very offensive. All in all it's a care home that we would not recommend. The management team were good at treating the relatives of the residents with contempt.
Dreadful place. Poor communication. The management team are appalling. They have no understanding of treating patients with dementia with any dignity or respect. The standard of care was poor. Management is very good at covering up their errors.
