View Full Details of Oaklands House Care CentreMum seems to have settled in better than we thought she would. Her whole life has changed drastically but the staff all seem to be really thoughtful and caring and although she forgets most things she doesn't forget how kind everyone is. Her room is always clean and tidy and her clothes are clean. She also tells me that the staff who wash her are also very kind.
Without prejudice. They comment, it's not our job. It should have been done by housekeeping. Said loudly in front of visitors. How my wife got ringworm brings cleanliness into question? Thankfully now under control.
My parents are both in Oaklands House Care Centre, arriving at different times. They are care for with the utmost respect. Their rooms are beautifully clean, and looked after by all the staff. The food is freshly prepared and the choice always available. The best thing is that my parents are safe, well cared for, warm and content. The worry we had has gone and we can now enjoy our visits.
All of the staff are kind, considerate, helpful and patient. Not only with the client, but with us, as a family visiting. Our brother has been challenging at times with the staff but they have accepted this with love, humor and patience. Very much appreciated.
Oaklands House Care Centre is a wonderful home. My mother needs are taken care of. Any concerns I may have are always addressed and resolved. My mum has been a resident for 4 years 4 months and is now on end of life care where she is kept comfortable and peaceful. All the Oakland Team are such amazing people. Compassionate, caring patient and so very kind. I couldn't wish for a better home for my mum.
In my 4 months experience of my mum being cared for in Oaklands, I find the staff all kind and caring to the residents and feel they all go above and beyond towards the residents and their families whilst visiting.
Oakland's staff are friendly and helpful. Mum had a scrumptious afternoon tea in the vintage tea room for her birthday, cake, balloons etc. Definitely making it a special day. There are always lots of activities to get involved in and sometimes Mum really does have a lot of fun. Thank you everyone at the 'Oakland's Family' you are very much appreciated.
I would like to thank everyone at Oakland House care home for looking after my Dad. The care and support were excellent and the staff were so very caring, nothing was too much trouble. Dad was there was about 3 months and it was so reassuring for us as a family that he was being well looked after.
The care and support was excellent. The staff were so caring.
Mum and I had a wonderful afternoon tea in your cafe. It was so lovely meeting some of the other residents and their relatives. The cafe is decorated so beautifully like an old-fashioned tea room. The ambience was just right and the food was perfect. What a lovely treat! Thank you.
What an amazing summer fete we attended in July. The activities team and staff were amazing. My mum was enjoying herself so much she forgot she had family there. The fete had something for everyone including grandchildren. These events are so good at helping make sure amazing memories with our loved ones. Best decision ever was my mum becoming a permanent resident at Oaklands. Thank you for these memories.
My mum arrived at Oaklands for respite care in January 2024 after being extremely ill at Christmas and being admitted to the hospital. As soon as I arrived prior to Mum's admission I was greeted with a warm welcome from all the staff. The Centre is extremely clean and smells lovely. Mum has settled in so well that she is now a permanent resident as she needs 24-hour care. When Mum first arrived she was very shy and just wanted to be in her room but over time the staff have encouraged her to come out of her room. She has now made some lovely friends and is eating with the other residents which is lovely to see. The activity team are also brilliant with activities scheduled for 7 days per week which my mum really enjoys. I went yesterday for afternoon tea with Mum and other residents/family, we all had a lovely time and the food was delicious. I'm now her daughter again and not her carer anymore. I can now sleep at night not worrying about her. I would highly recommend this centre.
Just want to give a big thank you to the carers and team for arranging the lovely cream tea in the Vintage Cafe room for Dad's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Dad came into the home in November last year for end-of-life care. You wouldn't believe it by looking at him now. He has improved dramatically since being here, this is all due to the wonderful care and attention of the team at Oaklands. We are so glad that we were able to choose Oaklands as Dad is doing so well. Thanks again.
My father-in-law has been in Oaklands for 2 years, during this time he and the family have been treated with the utmost respect. Our experience has been a positive one and nothing is too much trouble for anything our father/dad-in-law needs, his care and wellbeing is at the forefront of everyone's mind who works at Oaklands, the family are always made to feel very welcome and our input is very valued. The activities, parties, singers, entertainment, summer fetes food, etc. are amazing and such a lovely way to involve the residents and their families, we really enjoy them and they put a smile on everyone's faces, love a good sing-song. It is such a bonus to be able to use the vintage cafe and the upstairs function rooms for special family occasions, it means the wider family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren etc. can all spend time together with Dad-in-law. The hard work and effort that is put in by all staff when we have this function is admirable. Thank you Oaklands
My husband was placed at Oaklands House in February 2022 after several weeks in hospital. He had dementia and had lost his mobility. He was very resistant to the idea of care. If I had looked for a suitable placement for him myself I couldn't have found anywhere better than Oaklands. The care, compassion and love he received has been beyond compare. Sadly he became unwell in June 2024 and was in need of end-of-life care. Yet again this was carried out with care and dignity. During this time and in his last few days we as a family were also made extremely welcome when we visited. Oaklands residents are treated like a family and we all became a part of that family. Every single person in the Oaklands team cared about him and what happened to him and they felt his loss. During his time there he took part in numerous different activities provided by an exceptionally talented Lifestyles team. He did things he would never have done at home. Oaklands House is simply wonderful.
Mother receives excellent care from the always very helpful, cheerful staff, over and above. Great activities, meals etc.
The staff are very good, attentive, helpful and compassionate. Nothing is too much for them, their care for the residents is first-class. The room is always clean and tidy. The menu is as good as any top restaurant.
Excellent service. Kind, caring and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Caring and comfortable. Carers are amazing. A great care home.
My grandmother was discharged from hospital into Oaklands for rehabilitation after a fall. She was in hospital for 6 weeks and my family and I saw the toll it had taken on her mood, she was depressed, disengaged and honestly we thought she was going to give up. So you'll understand when I tell you that my mum and I burst into floods of tears from pure relief when we visited the day she was moved into Oaklands to find her singing with everybody, shaking the maracas with the biggest, cheesiest grin we'd seen from her in years. We can't thank the staff at Oaklands enough, they go above and beyond every single day and it shows through my grandmother's newly found smile.
My wife was a resident at Oaklands for just over two years, passing away peacefully in June 2024. She was in palliative care with late-stage multiple sclerosis and I could no longer care for her at home. All the Oaklands staff exemplified their values of care, comfort, compassion and credibility. I am deeply grateful that I was able to entrust my wife to Oaklands and for the entire time she was there I had no concerns about her needs being met. I was also treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Thank you.
