View Full Details of Oak LodgeOur 99-year-old mum has been at Oak Lodge for 18 months, and every time we see her she tells us how lucky she is to be in such a lovely home, and looked after by such caring people. She has made so many friends and enjoys all the activities that are provided, from gardening, crafts, musicians, singers, nursery group visits, and she has joined the choir. The care is exceptional, the setting in beautiful grounds is perfect and the catering is amazing. We would love to thank everyone at Oak Lodge for everything they do for her .
Oak Lodge is the best care home. It is clean, calm and friendly all the time. My mum feels cared for and safe. I know that she is so well looked after. Her wishes are respected and she lives comfortably. We are both well known by the friendly staff who go out of their way regularly to make us smile. Everything is included, nothing is too much trouble and there is nothing more I could ask for.
Outstanding care and attention from all the management team and staff. Know that mum is so very well cared for and has settled in well since arriving in July 2023. She in turn feels she receives great support and care. Know that on my arrival I am well informed and updated on any issues that staff or mum might currently have. I'm in turn always greeted as "a friend/family member" which makes me feel very welcome too.
Oak Lodge is a 5 star residential home and I have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone considering a care home for themselves or a relative or friend. I cannot think of one thing which isn't carried out to a very high standard. The home is situated in glorious surroundings which are well maintained and have the wow factor on arrival!
My dear 88-year-old elderly mother recently completed a five-week respite stay at Oak Lodge. I cannot speak highly enough of the love, care, patience and personal attention which she received during her stay. Oak Lodge itself is a home of the highest quality, very well kept, set in beautiful surroundings, offering a quality of care and kindness which is embedded in all staff, at all levels, from the top down. My mother, with early-stage dementia, and not entirely appreciating the full extent of help she needs, is not the easiest character to manage and work around. Everyone at Oak Lodge settled her in beautifully, and she had a wonderful time, she could not have been treated with greater care and consideration. All of the management and staff are friendly, helpful and straightforward, the administration is first-class. I would highly recommend Oak Lodge to anyone seeking top-quality care for a loved one in a beautiful, countryside setting with excellent modern facilities.
On entering Oak Lodge, beautiful gardens lift your spirits. Inside is clean and bright everywhere. Mum and Dad were always in fresh clothes, and medication was meticulously given. Home-made cake mid-afternoon. There's plenty of fun too; one day two penguins came to visit and one called Widget sat on Dad's lap. Then they waddled off to explore the home! As Dad said: 'At Oak Lodge you can still have amazing new experiences even when you're 93!' But the staff make this place; in truth, I have never been anywhere with so many kind, patient, and competent people under one roof. I've learned a lot from them. I'm so glad that Mum and Dad's last months were made so comfortable, and in turn, this leaves me feeling very happy.
The family made an informed choice when we applied to Oak Lodge for residence for my 90-year-old wife in 2022, and we have been very well rewarded for the trouble we took to find the best home for her. She quickly settled and greatly appreciates the care that she is receiving. We've been particularly grateful for the way that Oak Lodge has liaised with us as a family and the support the staff have given me personally in adjusting to living without my wife, whom I've known for nearly 80 years.
My sister has been at Oak Lodge for over 7 years. Oak Lodge have taken good care my sister for all these years and the Staff and Management are all approachable. We always feel free to discuss any concerns about my sister and they always listen and do all they can to help. My only regret is that, given my sister is bedbound, she is unable to enjoy the beautiful surroundings outside her room. I have no hesitation in recommending Oak Lodge to anyone looking for a good care home for their loved one.
My mother has been at Oak Lodge Care Home a little over a year now and we are so very thankful that there was a place for her. It was a huge turmoil for Mum to have to move so suddenly from her home, where she lived independently, to now being in one room in a strange place, surrounded by people she didn't know. The staff at Oak Lodge have been extremely supportive and compassionate in making Mum feel welcome, ensuring she had that 'home away from home' experience. They are well aware of how bewildering this must feel to those staying for the first time. She quickly made friends and enjoys all the many in-house activities including musicians, dancers, the odd alpaca and those outside as well, e.g. hospital radio stations, lunches at pubs and boat trips. A huge 'thank you', to all at Oak Lodge, for taking such exceptional care of my mother, and all the other residents. I couldn't have asked for a better place and it's situated in beautiful surroundings.
Mum has been at Oak Lodge for six weeks, respite care that has been extended. I knew some of the team before mum went to Oak Lodge, and that is probably one of the main reasons we chose it. However, every member of team I have met has been friendly, professional, caring and knowledgeable, I can not praise them enough. Mum's general appearance has improved dramatically and in the last week, they have seen Mum through a nasty little bug with care and concern for her. I know that Mum is being well looked after and I also know that the team are there for both her and me.
Our mum, grandma and aunt arrived at Oak Lodge Care Home just before Christmas 2017 with a very poor prognosis after a massive stroke. Here we are, six years later, and with the additional handicap of being registered blind and Mum is still going strong thanks to the patience, kindness and care of the whole team at Oak Lodge. In spite of the things that restrict her, Mum is so well-supported in the things she can do. The stand-out thing recently is her participation in the poetry sessions. She has always been a lover of poetry and I am so pleased that this is one of the many things the activity team supports. From top to bottom, the staff are always helpful, kind and communicative. We feel very lucky that Mum is at Oak Lodge, we could never look after her considerable needs the way the home does. We were so impressed at the way they handled Covid too, in spite of government incompetence. I am very happy to wholeheartedly commend the management and hard work of this exemplary nursing home.
“My mother's health and wellbeing has improved since she came to Oak Lodge although restricted in what she can do herself, she is so well looked after, and this is proof in her ongoing good health and happiness and comfort.”
Oak Lodge is extremely well-managed by the manager. She is a true diplomat, and it makes such a difference. My father has lived there for two years, and all the staff respect his requests and have put his art on the wall to make it as much like home as possible. He is taken to dinner and supper and events to ensure he always has company. He does find the evenings rather isolated back in his room, but he uses the computer. He has suggested a “pub” is installed where residents could meet in the evenings. A wonderful care home overall. The staff are second to none and go to great lengths to ensure comfort for the residents
I have been impressed with Oak Lodge since my first contact with the manager. She was so accommodating and understanding of our situation. She offered respite care, which resulted in my mother being so at ease and comfortable that she made that important decision to make Oak Lodge her home. The staff and facilities are excellent, and daily activities and crafts have seen my mother flourish. My sister and I have peace of mind about the care she is receiving and always feel welcome when we visit. Well done to all the staff!”
It’s a job to know where to start in complimenting Oak Lodge. The word ‘care’ in a care home isn’t sufficient to describe the care, love and attention everyone receives at Oak Lodge. The staff make friends with residents and visitors alike and always greet you by name. They know the residents and treat them with dignity and respect, making sure they are comfortable and happy. Our dear friend arrived at Oak Lodge over three years ago, and it is clear that the care and attention she receives have given her a wonderful quality of life. Thank you to everyone at Oak Lodge, which I am convinced is the best in the country.
Oak Lodge provided absolutely outstanding care for my father for the last 15 months of his life. I feel that he was embraced into a large, loving extended family. He was always treated with dignity, understanding and compassion by all members of the staff, whatever their role in the home. Nothing was too much trouble to sort out or address. He also enjoyed really good fun theme days, BBQs and Summer garden parties, usually involving excellent quality food, which he relished. Dad was only there for one birthday, but decorating his room and having a birthday cake at tea, exemplified the extra mile and thoughtful personal touches Oak Lodge provided. In short, I cannot speak highly enough of the professional management, great teamwork and wonderful, dedicated nurses and carers, and am recommending Oak Lodge to anybody in need of the highest quality home.
My sister has been a resident at Oak Lodge Nursing Home for over three years, which came about as a result of the death of her husband after 50 years of a truly happy marriage. During her time at Oak Lodge, she has received the most wonderful care, courtesy and consideration that we could have ever wished for from every member of the staff, who all have that natural warmth and welcoming disposition which are so necessary to make the residents feel that they are living in a safe home from home environment. I know that my sister is very happy being there as she continues to enjoy the autumn of her life. I am so very, very grateful for the outstanding care she has received at Oak Lodge.
During the four years our aunt has been with you at Oak Lodge, she has received exceptional care. The staff are all friendly and happy and are willing to do anything asked of them. We have always been kept fully informed of any changes in our aunt's condition. Oak Lodge itself is always immaculately clean and bright, with changes to displays throughout the seasons. There are plenty of activities for the residents if they choose to participate. We would not hesitate in recommending Oak Lodge to anyone looking for care for a relative. It is a lovely home.
The home is an absolute joy to see. It's bright, lovely rooms for residents and the gardens and grounds are so well cared for. Everyone seems happy, and it has so many activities for the residents. My mother is very happy there and has never complained about anything or anyone. I feel completely relaxed to know she is so well cared for. Thank you for all your kindness to Mum.
My mother has been in Oak Lodge care home since April 2022, and I guess as is usual, we were worried as to how she would get on. We did search for quite a long time for somewhere where we felt she would be happy to live and came across Oak Lodge, which seemed to foot the bill. We are so glad we found it as it's in such a lovely location, and as soon as you walk in, there is an air of friendliness that greets you from the staff and residents alike. After a few weeks, my mother, who suffers from dementia and deafness, out of the blue, told us she was happy there, which was a great relief! Oak Lodge is a wonderful, happy place, which I feel we were extremely lucky to have found.
