When I went to view the Oakridge Nursing Home as an option for my
beloved grandmother I was all prepared to hate it - just my own stupid
prejudice about what an NHS care home would be like. How wrong I was.
The home was clean, smelt good, the rooms are lovely, as are the
communal areas. Since my nan moved in my gratitude and admiration for
the care that is provided has only grown. All the staff, at every level,
are amazing and make a huge effort to know all of the residents, their
likes, dislikes and engage with them in such a caring and nurturing way.
As a visitor, I love that when I visit quite literally every member of
staff I pass always gives me a smile and says hi. My only fly in the
ointment is that sometimes the food doesn't look very appetising, but
that may be because it has to be liquidised for my Nanna, so hard for
the best chef to work with that! I could not recommend this facility
highly enough and am so glad this is where my beloved Nanna will see out
her days.
