During my father's stay at Southlands Nursing Home he received excellent care and medical attention. The staff were always extremely friendly and attentive. They supported my father through his end of life care, allowing him to pass away pain free and with dignity for which we are so grateful.
I have nothing but respect, admiration and praise for the team at Southlands. During my father's last 7 months, he was cared for with compassion, dignity and a friendly smile. His condition caused him to react unfavourably and sometimes lash out at the staff - a sad demise of a friendly man - he was always treated very well. He would refuse things often but the staff would always try, and if he wouldn't leave the room they would keep checking him & stay for a chat. It was easy to see the connections the staff made with the residents, be it my Dad or the other residents. Being a visitor I was always asked if I wanted tea/coffee, extra chairs & so on. I was always welcomed with a smile, and I was always amazed at no matter who answered the door to me, they not only knew me and who I was there to visit, but knew how he had been that day. Perhaps the best praise comes from my daughter, a 5-year-old medical student who has seen a lot of care homes during her studies and said to me 'this is a good one'.
The care my husband receives at Southlands Nursing Home is really first class. He is not just a resident but a member of a family. I can relax knowing he is in safe, caring hands, being treated with kindness, respect and genuinely treated as a valued individual.
Attentive and caring carers, these carers are very welcoming. Although some of the home looks a bit tired and dated overall the care home is clean and tidy.
It was my mother's special birthday (90) and we had arranged a birthday tea for her. The staff really made it special for her. They decorated the room and had a lovely tea and nothing was too much trouble. They constantly checked that we had everything we needed and a good time was had by all that attended.
I visit my friend every week and have found that all the carers are really friendly and helpful, got no complaints at all.
One of the greatest assets of the care home is the members of staff. We are always met with a smile and a friendly chat and they clearly know the residents well and work tirelessly to ensure their needs are met. I recently had some issues regarding my mother's care and after a meeting with the manager (who listened with interest to my concerns), the issues were resolved with speed and great professionalism. The changes made have enhanced my mother's quality of life immensely and also mine as I know she is in the hands of people who truly care.
Although I've had food issues January and February 2024, the management have appeared to have resolved this issue, the permanent staff here are excellent, I've always been treated by the permanent staff extremely well, the management have/are always very nice too, resolve any issues I might have.
My husband moved into Southlands Nursing Home for respite care, leading to permanency. The home is lovely and well-maintained inside and out. The staff are always attentive and efficient looking after the residents with care and dignity, medication is given by knowledgeable nurses. After having lunch with my husband I can say the food is delicious and well presented. There are always activities for the residents and family to join in with and our two young children are welcomed by all. We would highly recommend Southlands, I myself feel happy knowing my husband is being cared for in a safe happy environment.
My grandma has settled in really well considering didn't want to. At first it was hard but staff made her really welcome and know she really loves being here.
My mother recently passed away here at Southlands and I would like to say how kind and considerate the staff were. I was fully informed at all times of my mum's care during the 5 years she was there and the kind nature of the staff was fantastic. My mum could not have had better care, she was always clean, comfortable and well-fed, I never once felt anything else. The management again were great. Thank you to all the staff for the care and kindness you gave my mum, you should be really proud of the home you run.
Our mum at first did not want to be there, now 2 months later she loves it. The staff are lovely and the food is excellent. We would highly recommend this home. We are kept informed of any problems. She has and nails done.
My mother lives here, been there for three months now she is a lot happier than I’ve seen her in a long while. She no longer says she doesn’t want to be alive anymore she now eats four meals a day it’s all home-cooked by a lovely chef and there is entertainment every day. My mum’s room is nice she has her TV up on the wall and all her home comforts around her. I’m so glad to see my mum smile and laugh again. All the staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble.
Staff have been very attentive and supportive following my dad's passing. Dad was very settled and comfortable during his stay at Southlands. The staff always kept us informed of all that was going on with Dad.
My partner has been in there for a month now and I find staff very caring and helpful. The manager is always very good and helpful, The home is very clean, I am kept informed of any changes to medication etc. I have had lunch there several times and find food very good.
I am very impressed by the care my husband is receiving in Southlands. All the staff act from a position of compassion and 'love' - they show it in all their interactions with him and also in their dealings with me, in which they are extremely friendly, open and honest. The care they offer is excellent, so I have every confidence that he is now where he needs to be in order to enjoy the best quality of life that is possible for him, given his condition. Accurate and detailed records are kept of his care, and I am informed of any changes in his condition. If I had any concerns, I would be able to raise them, knowing that they would be taken seriously and responded to in a totally professional manner - but I have none. Thank you, Southlands, for supporting him and our family so well through this incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.
I can not fault the care Mum received; it was very comforting to know that she was being so well looked after. We were always made very welcome every time we visited.
I have found this nursing home caring. When my husband has been ill, they have sought medical treatment for him. The staff are cheerful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I know if I have any concerns, they will be dealt with promptly. Each individual resident is treated as an individual. They are given a choice as regards their meals. Nothing is done as regards their personal care unless asked for permission first.
Care for my mother has been very good. The nursing staff have been quick to take action when health concerns have arisen. They have kept me informed of progress promptly. I have been especially impressed with the way the care and nursing staff have rehabilitated my mother since returning from a long hospital stay.
