View Full Details of Southlands Nursing HomeMy Dad moved into Oaklands two weeks ago, we were a bit worried as to how he would get on in a home but he is very happy. The staff are all so lovely, not just with Dad but to my Mum and myself. He has played bingo, with a bit of guidance from the staff, for the 1st time in his life and was very happy when he won. It was his birthday in the week and all the staff made such a fuss of him on his big day and even made him a lovely birthday cake and some of the staff came into his room to sing happy birthday to him.We were permitted to have our own private suprise party for him yesterday with all of his adult grandchildren and partners present. All of the staff are always smiling and always very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. My dad is well looked after and happy which is such a relief for us all. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. Thank you so much to all of the staff for the care and support that you give to my dad.
Sadly my mum was only at Southlands for a few months before she died, however the love and care that was given to her during that time by all the staff was exemplary, especially in the last few days of her life. Their kindness also extended to myself during difficult circumstances, and I will be forever grateful. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a safe place for their loved ones who require care.
Whilst visiting my relation, I have been very impressed by the lovely atmosphere of the home. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and my relation has nothing but praise for the staff, all levels, including the catering staff for the lovely food.
The home was very comfortable in my uncles final weeks. The staff were fantastic, regularly checking in on him and us as visitors, very attentive. My uncle had a lovely room with views of the garden, beautiful setting. The room was a good size with plenty of room for visitors.
Residents are treated with respect care and dignity. Staff are smiling. Visitors are also catered for allowed to stay for lunch etc. Nothing too much trouble. Home very clean and staff well led. All questions always answered. Very happy resident = very happy daughter.
During my father's stay at Southlands Nursing Home he received excellent care and medical attention. The staff were always extremely friendly and attentive. They supported my father through his end of life care, allowing him to pass away pain free and with dignity for which we are so grateful.
I have nothing but respect, admiration and praise for the team at Southlands. During my father's last 7 months, he was cared for with compassion, dignity and a friendly smile. His condition caused him to react unfavourably and sometimes lash out at the staff - a sad demise of a friendly man - he was always treated very well. He would refuse things often but the staff would always try, and if he wouldn't leave the room they would keep checking him & stay for a chat. It was easy to see the connections the staff made with the residents, be it my Dad or the other residents. Being a visitor I was always asked if I wanted tea/coffee, extra chairs & so on. I was always welcomed with a smile, and I was always amazed at no matter who answered the door to me, they not only knew me and who I was there to visit, but knew how he had been that day. Perhaps the best praise comes from my daughter, a 5-year-old medical student who has seen a lot of care homes during her studies and said to me 'this is a good one'.
The care my husband receives at Southlands Nursing Home is really first class. He is not just a resident but a member of a family. I can relax knowing he is in safe, caring hands, being treated with kindness, respect and genuinely treated as a valued individual.
Attentive and caring carers, these carers are very welcoming. Although some of the home looks a bit tired and dated overall the care home is clean and tidy.
It was my mother's special birthday (90) and we had arranged a birthday tea for her. The staff really made it special for her. They decorated the room and had a lovely tea and nothing was too much trouble. They constantly checked that we had everything we needed and a good time was had by all that attended.
I visit my friend every week and have found that all the carers are really friendly and helpful, got no complaints at all.
One of the greatest assets of the care home is the members of staff. We are always met with a smile and a friendly chat and they clearly know the residents well and work tirelessly to ensure their needs are met. I recently had some issues regarding my mother's care and after a meeting with the manager (who listened with interest to my concerns), the issues were resolved with speed and great professionalism. The changes made have enhanced my mother's quality of life immensely and also mine as I know she is in the hands of people who truly care.
Although I've had food issues January and February 2024, the management have appeared to have resolved this issue, the permanent staff here are excellent, I've always been treated by the permanent staff extremely well, the management have/are always very nice too, resolve any issues I might have.
My husband moved into Southlands Nursing Home for respite care, leading to permanency. The home is lovely and well-maintained inside and out. The staff are always attentive and efficient looking after the residents with care and dignity, medication is given by knowledgeable nurses. After having lunch with my husband I can say the food is delicious and well presented. There are always activities for the residents and family to join in with and our two young children are welcomed by all. We would highly recommend Southlands, I myself feel happy knowing my husband is being cared for in a safe happy environment.
My grandma has settled in really well considering didn't want to. At first it was hard but staff made her really welcome and know she really loves being here.
My mother recently passed away here at Southlands and I would like to say how kind and considerate the staff were. I was fully informed at all times of my mum's care during the 5 years she was there and the kind nature of the staff was fantastic. My mum could not have had better care, she was always clean, comfortable and well-fed, I never once felt anything else. The management again were great. Thank you to all the staff for the care and kindness you gave my mum, you should be really proud of the home you run.

She no longer says she doesn’t want to be alive anymore she now eats four meals a day it’s all home-cooked by a lovely chef and there is entertainment every day. My mum’s room is nice she has her TV up on the wall and all her home comforts around her. I’m so glad to see my mum smile and laugh again. All the staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble.
