View Full Details of Alexandra Care HomeMy dad was admitted to Alexandra Care Home in late January 2025, suffering from advanced dementia and inoperable cancer. I was very pleased with the standard of care provided to him; the team were compassionate, professional and patient. His room and en-suite were always spotlessly clean, and the staff were very attentive. Although he couldn't partake, there were activities for the residents every day, but for the most part he was allowed to remain in his room whenever he wanted to. On arrival, the staff were always very friendly and welcoming, knew our names, and were always able to update us on how he had been since the previous day's visit. When he finally passed, everyone was sympathetic and kind. Thank you all - carers and administrators - for looking after Dad in his final days, for caring, and for making him comfortable and dignified.
All staff went above and beyond to provide my nan with exceptional care. Very kind and compassionate with family and other needs that needed to be met, never too much trouble to contact anyone. Rooms and facilities were always clean and well kept! From careers to management and administration I can't thank you enough for the care you gave my nan, especially in her final days!
The staff are always welcoming and greet you with a smile regardless of how busy they are. Key staff are aware of all issues related to the personal care of the individual concerned, for us, this is important that they care enough to know what is important.
The staff are very welcoming. My mam is dressed and clean and her room is tidy. Carers look after the patients all the time.
Very pleased with the care and attention my mother receives at Alexandra Care Home, the staff are very professional supportive and caring. All the staff from management, care staff and cleaners are extremely helpful.
I just wanted to take the time to say a massive thank you to all the wonderful staff at Alexandra Care Home for the fantastic care you gave to my mum during her stay with you. It was first class. The welcoming smile from each and every member of staff, the "Hello, how are you?". Always being kept informed of every detail. Arranging video calls when we were unable to visit during Covid restrictions. Being sent photos of activities mum was taking part in and seeing her smiling. It all gave us confidence that she was being truly cared for at the highest level. The care and compassion that was shown to me and my family when Mum passed away at the weekend was beautiful. Thank you so much. You are all amazing people who work extremely hard. Thank you for making the last few years of my mum's life comfortable and happy.
The staff were so kind to my dad right up to his passing. My sisters and I were very grateful that Dad was so well supported, respected and cared for during his time at Alexandra House and the head nurse on the Dementia and Nursing Care floor was absolutely lovely, compassionate and efficient in her role. Thank you to everyone who looked after Dad, you were great!
The care for my dad was wonderful from everyone in the home. Such a lovely feeling to know after each visit I could go home knowing he was being so well looked after by them all. Thank you for everything you have done.
Dad was allocated Alexandra Care Home for respite care after being in Watford General Hospital for 6 weeks. The team in the Dementia and Nursing care floor were amazing! The nurse is a true star and amazing so kind, caring and approachable. Her team are an absolute credit! They all treated my Dad with the utmost kindness and respect! I would highly recommend to any family who are looking for a care home for their relative they truly look after their residents with such a high level of care and compassion. Thank you to all at Alexandra Care Home! You really are an amazing team!
My mother has been a resident of the home since 2019. Suffering from heart failure. Then in 2022 after a hospital stay, she returned bedbound. All of the staff looked after her with such kindness, caring, compassion and competence. And all with a smile. Which is amazing considering the challenges they are faced with every day. They have also been very supportive of me, which has been so comforting in upsetting times. The home-cooked meals have been excellent, and her room and clothing kept nice and clean. The administrative staff have also been very caring and helpful and always willing to listen and give a kind word. It may not be the poshest of homes, but when it comes to caring for your loved ones, you will find none better.
My husband has lived on the nursing dementia unit for several months, where I am able to visit him each day. He is very well cared for and is always clean and well-dressed. The staff are courteous and kind and work extremely hard. He enjoys his food and the daily activities.
Due to the condition of my friend activities were not really rateable, the same with food as it needed to be blended. The staff are always courteous and friendly. Sometimes difficult to get updated on medical and medicine side of things as it needed the nursing staff who were very busy. Overall, a kind and caring experience.
We are very happy with the experience we have had so far at Alexandra Care Home. The staff are amazing, everyone works so hard to make sure my husband is well cared for and as comfortable as possible.
My dad was in Alexandra Care Home from June 2020 until June 2024 on Jasmine. He was really well cared for during this time and I would like to thank everyone at the home for their dedication, care and compassion for Dad. As he could no longer be cared for at home, it was always a great comfort to know he was being looked after very well in his last years. Myself and the family will be forever grateful to all the hardworking and dedicated staff at Alexandra Care Home.
The carers are really helpful. One in particular, we always chat. The activities are always good, the activity team keep us busy. We have a new hairdresser, she is nice too. Management sort out any problems that may occur. Also the dinners/lunches are great.
We would like to say our heartfelt thanks for the respect, care and love given to my dad during his time at Alexandra House. The devotion to the care given was amazing from all staff - from the management and office staff, the nursing and care staff, one member of staff in particular and her team for making the days fun with lots of activities and socialisation right down to the lovely cleaning staff. We could not have asked for more. When Dad moved into Alexandra we were worried how he would settle, but right from the word go he was made to feel welcome - part of a family - and I know he enjoyed his time with you and the way his finals days were made, the extra care and attention to Dad and us, as his family, was fantastic. Thank you for taking such great care of Dad.
My father moved to Alexandra Care Home from hospital after treatment. We had no previous experience of care homes. His care has been so good, and he is so settled, we have decided to not move him to a home nearer us, but to travel further for visits so he can stay.
We found the staff to be caring, thoughtful and positive when looking after my husband. He was treated with respect and dignity and we appreciated their care for him at a time when we were no longer able to.
I have found the staff to be caring and dedicated. They keep my partner well-fed and clean and still have time to chat with her. The management though busy is very approachable and informative.
My sister was transferred to Alexandra Care Home from the hospital. The contrast between the two environments is striking. The care home environment and staff have without exception been informative, helpful and professional. I feel very comfortable having my sister in their care. Whilst this is always a difficult time the home has made the transition as seamless as it could have been.
