View Full Details of Broad Oak Manor Nursing HomeOverall we have been really pleased with the care + support given over the last 3 years.
Amazing level of care by dedicated and professional carers.
The staff are helpful and considerate. The residents are treated with compassion and keep their dignity. It is not the same as living at home but comes close for residents who can't manage by themselves.
All ratings are made from personal experience only as I get little or no feedback from my mother.
My friend is so very happy and settled at Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home. The staff all work to provide a real community spirit. I have known the nursing home through my friend these past five years and I must say how impressive it is. All the staff are so lovely and caring. Always friendly and offering you a smile. The home itself is beautifully clean and the staff work hard to keep it looking lovely. I have had experience through friends of several nursing homes and Broad Oak Manor stands out above all the rest.
Dad is, generally, comfortable and well fed. He does not join in many activities but seems to enjoy chair exercises and has been on one excursion.
My husband has been very well looked after. He is happy and has made friends, he also goes to the things arranged to amuse them and help them to stay well. The staff are lovely, kind and caring and all very nice.
Mum has been at Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home for 16 months now. The care is fantastic, we are very happy that mum is in such safe, caring hands. The activities programme is wonderful - crafts, days out, movement classes, bingo and more. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, they make sure that all staff get to know residents well. The team are amazing and knowing that mum can get distressed and anxious they are great at keeping a close eye to help ease mums worries as quickly as possible. Broad Oak Manor also cared for my dad in the last few weeks of his life. He arrived there straight from hospital where he had been for a month, by then he was in a very poor and unkempt state. The team at Broad Oak very swiftly helped dad regain dignity, cleaned and shaved dad and did absolutely everything they could to make dad as comfortable as possible for those last few weeks, for this we will be forever grateful.
Attended a Halloween party and was so pleased to see how many home residents attended as well as those in independent living. The musician was brilliant (I'd hire him!) and respected the varied abilities of his audience to join in. The staff were gently encouraging, showing how well they knew the residents in how they supported them or let them quietly watch. Cake was great, as always, and we felt very welcome.
Mum has been in Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home for fifteen months now since she lost her independence due to dementia. The care and support she has received have been excellent. She is well looked after and happy and now considers it her home. The staff are lovely and kind and considerate and the medical support is great. From going to constantly worrying about Mum's safety when she was at home, I am confident she is in good hands. The home took Mum to her church recently for a service and she passed out - the response of the home and staff was exemplary - and the staff really went out of their way to make sure Mum was safe and checked over in hospital - and that she was not left alone until I arrived. They even made sure when she got back at midnight that she had a sandwich and a hot drink before putting her to bed. I have absolute confidence whilst Mum is in Broad Oak that she is cared for, supported and safe.
Outstanding care delivered by all. Nothing was ever too much and constant contact meant I didn't need to worry. Staff were simply amazing, showing empathy throughout a nursing home experience. Activities in abundance with volunteers coming in. Garden open days to show Hertford in bloom coupled with charity events, garden parties you couldn't asked for more. Well done Broad Oak Manor for all that you do, you really do make a difference. Thank you.
My mum and her dog Ollie moved into Broad Oak Manor assisted living in February 2023, after her diagnosis with Alzheimer's Disease, knowing that she will need more support in the future. The owner, was more than happy to accommodate both Mum and Ollie and we were granted permission to put a fence up for Ollie, so he was able to go for a wee at night in her back garden. Ollie was able to attend all the activities with Mum at the barn and was much loved by the staff. Lovely Ollie has since passed, and I cannot thank all the staff enough for their support for Mum, at this very difficult time for her. Not only the staff, but the residents are so lovely there; real community support network! I am so rest assured that my lovely mum is being supported and cared for by such lovely people, and gives me real peace of mind.
I visited for the day while they were throwing a summer party for the residents. There is such a kind and warm atmosphere. Everyone is friends with one another and always smiling. And the grounds are stunning! Beautiful place to live.
What a pleasant surprise! Came to visit my nan and the summer party was in full swing. It's so nice to see a happy community, lots of smiling faces and lovely interactions. Staff are welcoming, offered us food and drink and even an ice cream! Nice background music. So beautiful knowing my nan is in a supportive, friendly place, thank you so much! Great organised party.
A dear friend of mine has been living at Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home for about four months. Every time we visit, the staff are so friendly. We have seen residents painting, doing pilates, playing bingo and sometimes just sitting in the gardens in the sunshine. All the residents look so happy and more importantly, my friend is very happy, well cared for and always has lots to talk about when I visit.
We are really happy with Broad Oak Manor, where my mother has lived for just over two years. She is an independent resident with her own property. The care staff are all excellent and always helpful. There is a range of social activities laid on at the comfortable social area and 'the barn'. The qualified nurse based there monitors my mother's medications and always alerts me to any concerns.
Excellent care from nurses/carers and all other staff. So much better care than mum's previous care home. Mum loves the activities and friendly staff who take the trouble to get to know each person and their interests. Lovely barn across the courtyard to join in extra activities too.
The staff are accommodating, friendly and happy to help. We have requested a few changes that have been made to make Mum's life easier. Facilities are good, a mix of care home and independent residents. There's always something going on to stimulate residents. Christmas was a happy time, the place was homely and decorated beautifully and had a lovely atmosphere.
Many thanks to all the staff at the Nursing Home for the care given to my brother during the period from March to October 2022. They cared for him with love and kindness and looked after me too! What a shame our Government gives so little attention to Social Care - the staff in Nursing and Social Care deserve more recognition for their work. Thank you to all concerned in his care.
A dear friend of mine was transferred to Broad Oak Manor at the beginning of the year after a stay in a local hospital. The staff here have supported my friend to get back to her old self again, they are kind, compassionate, patient, always go above and beyond and have a very special set of skills. The nursing home, barn and gardens are beautiful and it is quite clear that the well-being of the people that stay here is so important to everyone that works here.
