View Full Details of Burford House Care HomeBurford House Care Home feels like a home, not a care home. My father could not be better cared for by a totally professional group of skilled, loving and caring people. Everyone is smiling all the time. The whole experience of care, accommodation, food and activities is excellent. It is such a genuinely warm and friendly place. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
From viewing the home with my daughter, to seeing my husband settle in, the staff could not have been more helpful. Always prepared to go that extra mile to make life easier. Everyone is made to feel welcome. It's just a lovely home, where everyone is valued and looked after.
Burford House Care Home is an incredibly compassionate and caring home for people like my husband who was suffering with Lewy body dementia and Alzheimer's. He was a patient here from April 2024 until December 2024 and I knew as soon as I stepped through the doors that it was the perfect place for him. All of the staff and the management team move heaven and earth to make things as perfect as possible for not only the residents but also the family. The rooms are beautifully clean. Although no one really wants to put their loved ones in a care home, this really is the next best thing to their own home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I shall be forever indebted to you all for making my husband's last months the best they can be.
The building was fantastic. The staff were very caring and kind. Inadequate parking.
From the moment I arrived to Burford House Care Home, I knew it was the right place for my mum to spend her last stage of life. The staff are all so welcoming. You enter and from the minute you enter, there are smiles from the receptionist, the clinical manager and admin staff. The nurses, carers and absolutely everyone cannot do enough to help you. The rooms are bright and clean. My mum is very happy in her new home and that makes me extremely happy too.
Our friend said: I live here but it is not my home. Actually, we were a bit shocked - maybe because we are Danish!? We saw a fine, elegant place with a kind staff, but it felt like a hotel. We felt that our friend was under severe restrictions, - maybe due to risks - but in DK it is forbidden to lock doors in care homes. And we were shocked when we heard the price! Rating of management is not possible for us! That explains the one-star!
The care, compassion and understanding afforded to my husband, our family and friends was outstanding. We were able to spend some happy final months with my husband relaxed in the knowledge that he was safe and well cared for. Some of the staff here really are earth angels! Thank you for a painful but perfect goodbye.
From the first step into Burford House Care Home, you are greeted with a smile at reception. The management and staff in the offices are always pleasant and professional. They will update you with anything they feel you need to know about your loved ones residing in the home. The coffee club area is always busy with residents with relatives and the lounge provides a quieter setting if needed for private conversations. The care staff, nurses, catering and housekeeping staff are all excellent, stopping to say hello whenever you're seen. They are truly a well-oiled unit of professionals. In my opinion, Burford House stands far above other care facilities in the area and I am grateful to have both my parents' well-being looked after.
The care home is a very special place. The residents are encouraged to feel like a real community and to take part in communal activities wherever it is physically possible. They are also treated as individuals, each with their own personal likes and dislikes, interests and tastes in reading, TV, food, music, etc. All the staff are caring and committed, and the home itself is stunning.
Burford House Care Home provided us with emergency respite care. I cannot fault the care, sympathy, personal attention and support we were given. I would like to give special mention to a member of staff on reception and two other members of staff, in particular. All other staff gave Burford House a warm and welcoming atmosphere where my father-in-law settled much faster than we thought. Thank you to everyone.
Caring, clean, homely environment. Very welcoming, empathetic staff. My mother received the best end-of-life care in the seven weeks she was at Burford House Care Home. All her needs were met and her care and medication were closely monitored and adjusted to make her as comfortable as possible as the illness progressed. The caring and support also extended to us, keeping us informed and being compassionate. We could not have wished for better care.
In general terms, we find the service at Burford House Care Home satisfactory. However, issues common to most care homes still need to be addressed, namely: - Laundry: despite all of my mother's clothing being labelled, we still find missing items and clothes in her wardrobe and drawers that clearly do not belong to her. - Food: whilst soup does provide required nutrition, my mother would dearly love to have an occasional change from this, such as pate/toast or prawn cocktail etc. - Outings: with an annual charge of almost £100k I am unable to understand why, as a group, a shared minibus (between the group care homes) is not considered a viable option. My mother has stated to her friends that she feels "trapped". Whilst Burford has a good selection of public areas, it would be in the interests of your guests' self-esteem to be taken out on a more regular basis. On a more positive note, a couple of local care homes only had the one public room where all guests were dumped for the day.
Since coming to Burford House Care Home on respite. My mother has received outstanding care and the whole family has been welcomed with such warmth. The staff genuinely care for each resident and tailor the care package to suit each individual. As a family, we are 100% secure in the knowledge Mum is safe, happy and cared for. The food, facilities, decor etc. are outstanding but the staff are the real stars. Would highly recommend.
The home is well-run. Staff genuinely enjoy working within the home. Dad is exceptionally well cared for. Dad was hesitant about going in however his fears were allayed and is enjoying his stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.
My mother spent 2 weeks at Burford House for respite after a stroke and trauma. We wanted her to have some comfort, kindness and luxury after months in hospital and rehab. Burford House delivered on all levels and we were very pleased with staff, ethos, care and outlook at this establishment. To be honest, my mother was somewhat confused/disoriented and so may not have fully appreciated this herself - but my siblings and I know that she was safe, well cared for and listened to. We would not hesitate to recommend Burford House.
Excellent service provided and good, genuine care. The home is spotless and the room is regularly cleaned. My father is being involved in activities.
Lovely staff, excellent facilities, everything is always clean and tidy. Dad seems very happy.
My stepdad is having the best care in this facility. The staff and atmosphere go above and beyond to make sure they provide the best care and attention.
Burford House Care Home is exceptional on every level. My mother stayed for two weeks respite. We hope to use again. From care to hairdresser, all staff to reception, excellent. Facilities, including in-house hairdressers, excellent. Visually impressive. Nothing is too much trouble - can't fault! Strongly recommend. Value for money rated satisfactory only because it is so expensive.
Very friendly team here with a clean and beautiful interior.
