View Full Details of Burford House Care HomeMy father-in-law's recent respite stay at Burford House was such a positive experience for him and us, that this review barley does it justice! The staff, in every role are outstanding, always going above and beyond to provide every aspect of care with kindness and dignity, updating promptly via telephone if any concerns or on every visit we made. Staff at all levels are amazing with all their residents and it really did not feel like a care home, but more an extension of home itself. We were greeted so warmly whenever we arrived and offered refreshments in the very welcoming bistro area. Staff were professional, knowledgeable and very friendly, and the communication excellent. My father-in-law was so happy to stay and it is testament to how exceptional BH is that so many of the staff have remained there from his previous stay last year. Other residents also speak highly of their lives there. His accommodation, his meals, the cleanliness throughout, daily activities, beautiful outside areas and all that BH has to offer were of the highest standard. Out deepest gratitude for everything that was done for my father-in-law in nursing him back to good health during his stay. Highly recommend without hesitation.
Burford House is exceptional! Our dad (91) had 6 weeks respite care here after a hospital stay. The support, care & kindness shown every single day was of the highest possible standard. We had complete peace of mind. His every need was seen to and he was safe (he's very confused). Every member of staff treated him with patience, dignity and understanding, providing gentle encouragement and friendly smiling faces, & giving him time to talk/be listened to, & his requests were dealt with promptly. A beautiful ground floor room on arrival (as mobility issues) facing the tranquil sensory garden. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Initially very frail from hospital where issues not rectified. BH were incredibly efficient, ensuring excellent care also from local practice doctors visiting regularly. Staff checked on his well-being day and night and we were fully updated. Dad's health has improved significantly. Staff at every level (catering/cleaning included) should be commended. Meals & varied choice were excellent. Dad loved the bistro daily, being taken for short walks, birthday celebrations, world book day, cinema room. Life at BH fully inclusive. The main garden enabled him to sit and interact with other residents. Out grateful thanks for our dad's wonderful experience. Professional & warmly welcoming to everyone. Would highly recommend.
Burford House is an excellent care home, from the moment you are greeted by the friendly receptionist the activities are very varied and include everyone and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. All the nursing staff are very professional, friendly, approachable and always happy to answer any queries we have. My father is very happy and has improved more than we could ever hoped for.
All the staff genuinely care and are dedicated to the resident, whilst also giving support to their families. Our dad has come on so much since being here, the excellent food, environment and the activities all play a part in this. Thank you, it is so reassuring for us as a family to know he has such excellent care.
Burford House Care Home feels like a home, not a care home. My father could not be better cared for by a totally professional group of skilled, loving and caring people. Everyone is smiling all the time. The whole experience of care, accommodation, food and activities is excellent. It is such a genuinely warm and friendly place. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
From viewing the home with my daughter, to seeing my husband settle in, the staff could not have been more helpful. Always prepared to go that extra mile to make life easier. Everyone is made to feel welcome. It's just a lovely home, where everyone is valued and looked after.
Burford House Care Home is an incredibly compassionate and caring home for people like my husband who was suffering with Lewy body dementia and Alzheimer's. He was a patient here from April 2024 until December 2024 and I knew as soon as I stepped through the doors that it was the perfect place for him. All of the staff and the management team move heaven and earth to make things as perfect as possible for not only the residents but also the family. The rooms are beautifully clean. Although no one really wants to put their loved ones in a care home, this really is the next best thing to their own home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I shall be forever indebted to you all for making my husband's last months the best they can be.
The building was fantastic. The staff were very caring and kind. Inadequate parking.
From the moment I arrived to Burford House Care Home, I knew it was the right place for my mum to spend her last stage of life. The staff are all so welcoming. You enter and from the minute you enter, there are smiles from the receptionist, the clinical manager and admin staff. The nurses, carers and absolutely everyone cannot do enough to help you. The rooms are bright and clean. My mum is very happy in her new home and that makes me extremely happy too.
Our friend said: I live here but it is not my home. Actually, we were a bit shocked - maybe because we are Danish!? We saw a fine, elegant place with a kind staff, but it felt like a hotel. We felt that our friend was under severe restrictions, - maybe due to risks - but in DK it is forbidden to lock doors in care homes. And we were shocked when we heard the price! Rating of management is not possible for us! That explains the one-star!
The care, compassion and understanding afforded to my husband, our family and friends was outstanding. We were able to spend some happy final months with my husband relaxed in the knowledge that he was safe and well cared for. Some of the staff here really are earth angels! Thank you for a painful but perfect goodbye.
From the first step into Burford House Care Home, you are greeted with a smile at reception. The management and staff in the offices are always pleasant and professional. They will update you with anything they feel you need to know about your loved ones residing in the home. The coffee club area is always busy with residents with relatives and the lounge provides a quieter setting if needed for private conversations. The care staff, nurses, catering and housekeeping staff are all excellent, stopping to say hello whenever you're seen. They are truly a well-oiled unit of professionals. In my opinion, Burford House stands far above other care facilities in the area and I am grateful to have both my parents' well-being looked after.
The care home is a very special place. The residents are encouraged to feel like a real community and to take part in communal activities wherever it is physically possible. They are also treated as individuals, each with their own personal likes and dislikes, interests and tastes in reading, TV, food, music, etc. All the staff are caring and committed, and the home itself is stunning.
Burford House Care Home provided us with emergency respite care. I cannot fault the care, sympathy, personal attention and support we were given. I would like to give special mention to a member of staff on reception and two other members of staff, in particular. All other staff gave Burford House a warm and welcoming atmosphere where my father-in-law settled much faster than we thought. Thank you to everyone.
Caring, clean, homely environment. Very welcoming, empathetic staff. My mother received the best end-of-life care in the seven weeks she was at Burford House Care Home. All her needs were met and her care and medication were closely monitored and adjusted to make her as comfortable as possible as the illness progressed. The caring and support also extended to us, keeping us informed and being compassionate. We could not have wished for better care.
In general terms, we find the service at Burford House Care Home satisfactory. However, issues common to most care homes still need to be addressed, namely: - Laundry: despite all of my mother's clothing being labelled, we still find missing items and clothes in her wardrobe and drawers that clearly do not belong to her. - Food: whilst soup does provide required nutrition, my mother would dearly love to have an occasional change from this, such as pate/toast or prawn cocktail etc. - Outings: with an annual charge of almost £100k I am unable to understand why, as a group, a shared minibus (between the group care homes) is not considered a viable option. My mother has stated to her friends that she feels "trapped". Whilst Burford has a good selection of public areas, it would be in the interests of your guests' self-esteem to be taken out on a more regular basis. On a more positive note, a couple of local care homes only had the one public room where all guests were dumped for the day.
Since coming to Burford House Care Home on respite. My mother has received outstanding care and the whole family has been welcomed with such warmth. The staff genuinely care for each resident and tailor the care package to suit each individual. As a family, we are 100% secure in the knowledge Mum is safe, happy and cared for. The food, facilities, decor etc. are outstanding but the staff are the real stars. Would highly recommend.
The home is well-run. Staff genuinely enjoy working within the home. Dad is exceptionally well cared for. Dad was hesitant about going in however his fears were allayed and is enjoying his stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.
My mother spent 2 weeks at Burford House for respite after a stroke and trauma. We wanted her to have some comfort, kindness and luxury after months in hospital and rehab. Burford House delivered on all levels and we were very pleased with staff, ethos, care and outlook at this establishment. To be honest, my mother was somewhat confused/disoriented and so may not have fully appreciated this herself - but my siblings and I know that she was safe, well cared for and listened to. We would not hesitate to recommend Burford House.
Excellent service provided and good, genuine care. The home is spotless and the room is regularly cleaned. My father is being involved in activities.
