View Full Details of Osbourne Court Care HomeMy mum was a resident at Osbourne Court from May 2024. My mum wasn't the most sociable and preferred her own company but all the staff made her feel special and often had a laugh and a joke with her. Mum loved the food and ate better than she had done in years. Mum felt safe and cared for at Osbourne Court. The Management were very approachable they listened and responded to any queries we had.
Dad moved to Osbourne Court in January. Having lived his 90 years in South Manchester/Cheshire, this was a big move for him. We were concerned about his health over Christmas and were worried if such a big move was right for him. We needn't have worried. The level of care from the friendly team at Osbourne Court has exceeded my expectations. He is eating well, building up his strength again and now that he's only 10 minutes from me I can see him as often as I like. This is the best care home that Dad has stayed in and I am delighted.
Dad has very mixed needs and can be a tricky customer. He has stayed in a few care homes, but we wanted to move him closer to family and friends. Having visited a few places, we were disappointed with the options until, by chance, we came across Osbournes. From the first visit, we have been outstanded by the care, attention and compassion from all staff, not only towards Dad but his family and friends too. Dad has settled better than anywhere else he has stayed which is an achievement in itself. If we ever have an issue (which is only ever a small niggle) staff are quick to respond. We can't thank the manager and her amazing team enough. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Osbournes as a forever home. Yes, there is building work going ahead and not quite perfect yet but as a family we are very excited to see the place developing, can see the vision from management and more importantly the care and support Dad receives is A* from a team that is experienced, knowledgeable and passionate.
Great staff and good care. Food could be a bit better and hotter when served. Mum is happy here and likes the staff. More trips out would be nice. The garden is nice and well cared for. Also, a good amount of activities. I have given 4 stars as they have improved alot and I am looking forward to the room updates, but the main thing for needing looking at now is food.
My mother has dementia and has been staying at Osbourne Court for a number of years now. With the acquisition of the home by last year major renovation work on the home started almost immediately. A number of improvements have been undertaken which, when completed, will be fantastic. The new management are brilliant and the day-to-day care staff are wonderful even with all the upheaval going on around them. My mother is well looked after and treated with the utmost respect. I cannot thank them enough for all they do for her.
Dad is happy and well cared for at Obourne Court. His needs are met and he has friends to share life with. Because of the extensive building work, I find the home less clean than I would like to see it but as long as Dad is being cared for this is not of huge importance. Lots of activities happening, carers seem very genuine and they never appear to put on any pretense of being different when I visit no matter when I turn up. Happy with the communication from management. Keep up the good work.
My brother recently stayed at Osbourne Court for a six-day respite. We visited every day, and I can’t praise all the staff highly enough. Their dedication to the residents’ needs is second to none. Having to work under difficult times while major building refurbishment carries on, is a testament to their dedication. I would have no hesitation in my brother going back again, either for respite or full-time residential care. Thank you to everyone there.
My Dad has severe Dementia and has been living alone at home since Mum died in 2017. Whilst we were able to provide him with a good quality of life he was starting to fall and it became clear that he needed more support. B and M care at Osborne Court in Baldock in the very capable hands of the manager and her team have been wonderfully caring and supportive of us and Dad and he has now been there for 6 weeks. His quality of life has improved he has a lovely room with ensuite, activities throughout the day, and well-prepared nice food. More importantly, the staff are lovely and I feel relieved that he is in such a nice place to live. Although the home is in the middle of a refurbishment this does not impact the care provided and I look forward to the day when the refurb is complete as this will only enhance Dad's quality of life. Thank you B and M, the manager, and your team!
My mum has been at Osbourne Court for many years and even after the change in ownership, we are still happy with her care there. What makes this home is their staff: the care team are just that: caring, they got to know Mum very well and they look after her with professionalism and compassion. The home manager is a real asset to the home, her door is always open, she is competent, hard-working and really understands the needs of the residents. I cannot praise Osbourne Court highly enough, they are super!
Osbourne Court looks after my elderly friend with care, compassion and respect. She has been a resident of the home since 2020. They communicate with me if there is anything that I need to know or be aware of and the staff are always friendly. Even though my friend doesn't do them there is a good variety of activities for the residents to engage with. They are very supportive of me too as my friend's health has since declined and they are happy to discuss and hear how it affects me and what I can do to help make it easier on myself. I know that when I leave Osbourne Court after visiting my friend she is well cared for and that is peace of mind for me. Lovely care home.
Osbourne Court cared for my dad with absolutely wonderful kindness. He was resident for almost three years much of that time during various lockdowns. They always did their best to facilitate visits whenever possible. Everyone I met treated my dad with kindness and respect.
Osborne Court were absolutely fantastic with my nan. Her care was fantastic, I felt so at ease leaving her in their care, communication was always excellent, staff always friendly and supportive with Nan and us as a family. I honestly can’t praise them highly enough. They have plenty of different activities and the staff are so encouraging and inclusive of all residents. In Nan's final days we were given privacy, dignity, and were looked after with anything we needed. I would trust them and use them for other family if I need to.
Very nice care home. The wife likes it.
Absolutely brilliant, I had just travelled 6 hours from cumbria to visit my father. I was welcomed by the receptionist with big smiles who explained everything really well as I was unsure of Covid rules, when I was in the room visiting my dad he was been fed by a loverly nurse called Happiness. Who was so understanding, I was speaking to one of the nurses who was caring for my dad she explained his health condition to me very clearly , all in all my dad couldn't be in a better place right now given his condition.
Staff have always been welcoming, cheerful, helpful and kind. In 12 years I have never seen anything that has made me uncomfortable or concerned.
When we have been able to visit our uncle, the staff have made us feel very welcome. We can see that he is well cared for, and he seems very relaxed. Even under the current restrictions, it has been well organised.
Staff are always friendly, very helpful and professional at their job. Glad my father is in this care home, it gives the family peace of mind that dad is being looked after. Would not hesitate in recommending this care home to other families.
Lovely people and lovely place, grandad looks well cared for and make a lovely cup of tea. He seems very comfy and happy. The residents all seem to be smiling and happy also which is a great sign.
My mother has been very happy and is well looked after since she came to Osbourne Court. I am always greeted on arrival and kept well informed of any changes with regard to her well being and always get consulted on any health and medication issues.
This is the second review I have given. Unfortunately, what I said in the first review is no longer accurate. I said my wife is suffering from Picks disease, a less common form of dementia, which can lead to unsocial behavior. The home was aware of this when they accepted my wife, and to start with everything was fine, but then staff began to leave and were not replaced. The carers that remained still did a great job but were overstretched, leading to many residents being unattended for long periods. The cleaning staff and activities staff were often being left to care for people. This led to a couple of incidents regarding my wife with other residents, which did not happen when staff were available to step in and calm matters. I visited every day so I was able to see the deterioration from the management first hand. There are still a lot of good people there and I can't praise them enough, the trouble being as I have said, they are so short-staffed.
