View Full Details of Northbrooke HouseThere is one thing that I am not happy about. When my husband was at Northbrooke, he was going through an aggressive phase, Northbrooke called me to say that they were going to put him on a 1 on 1 from 2 PM to 9 PM. I listened but did not agree to anything. They then said that a form would be sent to me to sign which I never received. I didn't hear anything about it. Then all of a sudden I get a monthly bill of £3000 plus beginning in February-March. In May and June, I visited my husband and asked to meet the 1 on 1 person, I was told that she was not in that day. Another time I was with a friend and he was sitting alone with all the other residents and not one person was around him or near him. This happened a few more times and I was wondering what I was paying for? Especially when the 1 on 1 was not in the day when I asked to meet the person. How many days did this happen? My husband has been self-funding for almost 3 years and now he is on Social Funding and I am paying half the fee.
The staff are always really nice every time I go and see my dad and always very helpful.
My mother moved into Northbrooke House at the beginning of June. All the staff have been wonderful in welcoming her and helping her to settle. Her room is lovely and she is cared for 24/7 by kind, courteous and caring staff. Thank you for giving my mum and our family reassurance that she is safe and happy.
My friend has been a resident for about 18 months and in that time he has been cared for very well. Although he is unwell he has improved from his time at Northbrooke House. The biggest challenge is to improve his physical abilities but he still seems reluctant to participate.
On arrival, the manager was immediately very welcoming. She understood how we felt and reassured us. This new path the whole family had to take was good for everyone. The staff are friendly and caring. They give 1-1 time with the residents and incorporate family members into conversations. Nothing is too much trouble and assist straight away. Mostly with thanks to the manager, we no longer feel guilty or a failure.
Dad has moved in today and what a wonderful welcome was received from the manager, deputy, receptionist, activities leader and all carers. This really is a beautiful, friendly, bright & airy residential home. His transfer from another home that could not offer the quality of care he deserves has been made seamless with excellent leadership here at Northbrooke. On arrival, residents were enjoying a choir singing wartime songs and Dad was encouraged and enjoyed joining in. He is looking forward to lots of activities in and out of the home and is so proud to be asked to help water the plants. He has a beautiful, modern, bright and airy bedroom. We know as a family he will enjoy the rest of his time here. Thank you everybody.
Very positive over the past 2 years. My wife is a resident and the changes that have occurred over the past few months are welcome and refreshing. The standards are clearly higher in all areas. My wife is safe and well cared for.
I have been invited to to this care home to provide Dog therapy, this is something vital to those living in a dementia care setting as it not only stimulates those living with dementia. I was so impressed with the care staff who welcomed me with open arms and the residents absolutely loved my little dog who was able to make the residents in the lounges smile and reminisce about dogs they have cared for in their lives, but also those being cared for in bed. My little dog was so welcomed by those being cared for in their rooms and it made them smile and seemed to help them remember memories about younger days. The smiles I saw were so heartwarming. What really was welcoming was the manager, she was so kind to us and so forward-thinking with a view for us to return and become part of a care home family. This care home has great rooms, great care staff and a great leader who obviously seems focused on providing the highest level of care. We can not wait to return.
