View Full Details of Highfield Nursing HomeMy husband had been in Highfield from April 2024 till December 2024. He had Lewy body dementia / Parkinson's and later cancer. I would like to thank the entire staff at Highfield who showed such care and kindness to both myself and my husband. Every single person has been truly amazing with what every job they have done and it has been much appreciated. Being in Highfield was like belonging to a big family.
Clean and warm with friendly staff. Worryingly service user smelt of urine on more than one occasion. His wardrobe now looks like a warzone, clothes shoved everywhere all messed up. Number of residents have fallen recently and is still going down. Promised trips out in minibus don't seem to have materialised. Lack of contact between home and relatives when things needed, service user was without socks for a period but we were not informed. No sign of home manager for several weeks.
I have personally found all of the staff very helpful and kind towards my mum and myself. They are all very caring.
Ever since my wife has been a resident in the dementia unit of Highfield Nursing Home, I have been very happy with her care. All staff are continuously friendly and efficient. From top to bottom. The staff are excellent. Food, care, cleanliness and rooms and facilities are excellent. Thank you.
I am very happy with Highfield, The staff here are excellent and caring. My wife is very settled at Highfield. The home is clean and tidy. I couldn't recommend Highfield enough.
My brother was discharged from the hospital to Highfield on the 20th of January 2024. Within days there was a marked improvement in the way he looked and he appeared happy and reasonably settled. He always looks clean-shaven and is very happy with the food and drink offered. Within days of requesting care for getting more mobile, having a haircut or attention to his feet, the job is done! It is such a relief to our family to see him cared for so well. A big 'thank you' to all concerned.
Staff support nicely, need more washing days for clothing, need more gluten-free options as we have been buying our own. Evening dinner needs more options and a hot dinner option. Family always made welcome. An option to have lunch with family members would be nice.
Mums' care is amazing I am so pleased that she is in Highfield as they are doing such an amazing job of looking after her and making sure she gets the care she needs all the safe are amazing and are so so good with Mum, I can't thank them enough for all the hard work they do. The only problem we have is the lack of activities since two staff members left but other than that, Mum seems very happy and the staff are amazing.
After 12 weeks in hospital, I was placed at Highfield for 4 weeks of respite and recovery. The manager was very welcoming and respected my wish to self-medicate, control my Dialysis myself and receive all meals in my room. The staff were all very kind and polite.
My overall experience at the Highfield Nursing Home was extremely good. Management and staff went to great lengths to help me rehabilitate after a spell in hospital. Care staff were quickly on hand at any time to attend to my needs, both day and night. Nothing was too much trouble.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the nursing staff at Highfield Nursing Home for all the care and attention shown to my mother in law throughout her stay at Highfield. My wife and I were comforted in the knowledge that the team were so caring and professional and always acted in my mother in laws best interest. This care and attention allowed my mother in law to pass away peacefully and with dignity and for that we will always be grateful. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending Highfield Nursing Home whether for respite or nursing care. Thank you does not seem sufficient in the circumstances.
My mother has just left Highfield after receiving several weeks of rehab care and physiotherapy following an accident. The care she received from at Highfield was superb and she made such good progress. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and she was treated with kindness and respect. My brother and I were so reassured that she was being looked after so well. Thank you all so much on behalf of myself and my family.
I am very happy with everything, the staff are excellent, kind, helpful and caring. All you can wish for. They all make a stay very pleasant. I can't wish for anything to be different. All staff are amazing, cleanliness is excellent.
I was so very fortunate to come to Highfield after breaking my hip. I was enveloped in kindness by all members of staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The physio was the best I have ever had and within twelve days was signed off. I use two crutches - a miracle, I am 86-years-old.
I would like to say how grateful I am to have been able to spend my rehab time at Highfield. I have progressed very well. I am going home to say on Wednesday the 4th of April to resume my life. Thanks to so many wonderful people!
The care has been excellent. From the day he was discharged to the present day. Even though he was discharged from hospital wrongly and then moved to rehab. Since in rehab he has made good progress with the rehab team.
My experience at Highfield Nursing Home has been very disappointing and I feel totally misled. I was led to believe I would get physiotherapy every day and that showers were in place in the "ensuite" rooms. I caught Covid whilst here which made me very ill, my friend had to phone in to make sure that the nurses would do a set of observations bearing in mind I have an autoimmune disease and am immunocompromised. I was basically left to it. I also had terrible diarrhoea and a bin full of pads wasn't emptied. I used a yellow bag and it wasn't taken away for two days. They never provided me with a room with a shower and I couldn't have a shower. The whole experience has made me feel worse than when I was admitted.
I visited Highfields Nursing Home before my relative booked in, to look around. I was impressed with the pleasant communal areas. Absolutely no nasty smells. Plenty of staff on hand. All the staff are very friendly and caring. Very nice food and plenty of it. My relative was a resident for 5-months. He was very well cared for and we never had any concerns for his welfare. We could visit unannounced at any time even though it was during Covid-19. There was always a call bell within his reach. He was unable to get out of bed so did not use the dining room, but those that did so sat together and interacted well. During my visits, there were always plenty of staff on hand if needed. The rooms were cleaned daily.
Certain aspects were very shabby, considering how much per week they were charging my Stepfather to stay and receive care. My first experience was when I phoned and I was transferred to someone I assumed was a staff member only to find out that it was his niece who came on the scene less than 8 years ago. This was extremely unprofessional as was the time my Stepsister enquired about her father and was told, “he’s not dead yet”. The whole time we saw him, he was confined to bed. He didn’t like it there and was always cold with just a sheet and thin blanket over him. His chair had a considerable-sized tear which was, “repaired” with silver duct tape. We have known him for 55 years and when our mother died, we kept in contact offering to help whenever he wanted us even though we both have limited funds and poor health. The hall carpet is faded and in poor condition. We would never have put him in Highfield, instead opting for care at home to end his last days in familiar surroundings.
Highfield Nursing Home has been such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are extremely kind and caring to all their residents. I found the cleanliness to be outstanding, not just the building but also keeping the residents well presented and preserving their dignity. Highfields has many cleaners, carers, nurses on hand and there is always someone to talk to. Their end of life was exceptional! I can't thank them enough for making a very difficult and sad experience so comforting.
