I visited with a friend who had been at school with my sister-in-law, which was good for her. Recognised herself in a school photo. Concerned about my sister-in-law's chestiness and spoke to nurse about this. Action and contact with the doctor is in hand. I hope the virus or treatment can soon start. As far as I can tell, good care by nursing staff.
It is so lovely to see my mother-in-law happy again. She is enjoying the food and the company. The activities are very good and she has been on two trips and only been at Barchester Orchard House Care Home a few weeks. She loved the lighthouse visit. Thank you for giving purpose to her life.
Barchester Orchard House Care Home is a very clean and wonderfully scented place. The staff here are fantastic people - the carers, nurses and activities staff all take great care of me. The food is also delicious.
My mother spent the last two months of her life at Barchester Orchard House Care Home. I could not fault the care that she received or the support we were given, as a family. She had a beautiful room overlooking lawns and trees (such a relief after a view of a brick wall in her previous care home). Everything was clean, comfortable and modern. Every effort was made to find food and drinks that my mother enjoyed and her visitors were grateful for the excellent coffee and teas which were available in the foyer. I felt that the home had exactly the right balance of checking that my mother was as comfortable as could be expected whilst giving my family privacy to be with her in her final days. She was treated with the utmost respect and compassion throughout her stay and I was kept up to date about her declining health from the outstanding nurses. It was particularly reassuring to have a named nurse and carer who we could ask for advice and information. My family are so grateful to the whole team.
My father passed away last December and I am so grateful that he was able to die peacefully at The Orchards which he thought of as home. He had lived there for almost 8 years and was happy. Dad celebrated his 100th birthday there and staff provided a fantastic buffet and made the whole family welcome. In fact, the staff were wonderful and always willing to help. For example, when he became bedridden in his last year, Dad was unable to reach the treats kept in his drawer. I mentioned this to the receptionist who immediately had a sign made reminding staff to ask if he wanted any of his sweets or whisky. Dad enjoyed his meals and continued to do so when he needed help eating and drinking.
Lovely building, well equipped rooms, clean, comfortable surroundings and very pleasant, helpful staff.
My dad came to Barchester Orchard House Care Home for respite care whilst my mum was in hospital. Sadly, she passed away and Dad continued his stay. Everyone at Orchard has been wonderfully kind and caring. Dad has been confused and heartbroken but every member of staff has given him some time and support. As a result, he has settled and is able to get through the day calmly. I cannot praise Orchard House highly enough. Not only have they looked after my dad but they have cared for all of us, family as well. As we live off the island, we are having to move Dad closer to us. Orchard House will be a very hard act to follow and I thank everyone there for helping Dad through such a difficult time.
The staff, management, house, carers, nurses, activities, are a well-integrated team. The team looked after me well, I was at the Barchester Orchard House Care Home to recuperate from a hip replacement operation and to give my wife a rest from looking after me. (Two weeks). The shower in my room could not be easily used because the entire floor flooded. To read I needed a strong light which was not installed.
Can't fault any area of Orchard House. The care, attention, and facilities are excellent. The staff goes above and beyond.
Orchard House is such a wonderful caring environment for our dad. The staff are so very friendly and helpful. Cannot find fault with anything at all.
My brother has been cared for by the fabulous staff at Orchard House for 8 months, because of the care and wonderful home-cooked food he has survived a lot longer than expected. Over Christmas, there were activities every day and special menus and parties to which I was welcome to attend. The ladies who provide all the activities work so hard and are fantastic. I can't praise the staff enough, always helpful and friendly, even when under pressure.
Really excellent place, so impressed with the personal care and attention to my mother's every need. Her recovery was total and we as a family give all credit to 'The Orchards' care for that. Would recommend thoroughly. Thank you Orchards.
Mum is receiving the best care I could ask for. Every step of the journey I am consulted on what is best for Mum. Every member of staff are dedicated, thoughtful people who genuinely care for my Mum. I cannot thank you enough for all you are doing to help Mum at this difficult stage of her life.
Everyone is amazing and they cannot do enough for you. They are kind and make my grandmother comfortable. They are always so friendly and welcoming. They always willing to go the extra mile and make the toughest time the brightest.
I could not be more pleased with the care and dedication shown by all the staff of Barchester Orchard House. They understand the need for dignity, despite the physical condition of the resident. The rooms are well-equipped for all the resident's needs.
I am generally happy with everything but do not like it when another resident hits my husband. Fortunately, he hasn't been hurt yet.
Always willing to help Mum and get her involved with other residents and activities. Very patient with Mum as she is quite independent. Very clean and excellent facilities.
My mother has vascular dementia and is quite frail. She has been a resident at Orchard House Care Home for a year. She is always treated with kindness and dignity by the nursing and caring staff. Her room is always spotlessly clean and tidy and there is a general feeling of a happy and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend this home to others.
Mum was initially a short-term resident after breaking her shoulder and arm. Despite stating that she didn't ever want to go into a home, she decided after about six weeks that she would like to stay permanently. She thoroughly enjoys the food and activities and says she is very well cared for. She has a new lease of life and new friends. It is very comforting to know that she is so happy and safe.
