View Full Details of Sandown Nursing HomeI would like to express my thanks for the care and attention given to my late step dad. He was very alert but needed all care due to a debilitating injury caused by a fall . We couldn't have asked for better care. In fact when he needed a brief admission to a hospital ward he couldn't wait to get back to his comfortable bed at Sandown Nursing Home and familiar carers who he thought of as friends. Knowing he was nursed so well at the end of his life made his passing easier for his loved ones. Thank you again.
Staff at Sandown Nursing Home are professional, caring and friendly. My husband was very well looked after in the two years he was at the home. I never had cause for concern as I knew he was happy and comfortable. Well done to all the staff!
A fantastic care home who are conscientious, professional and friendly. The staff are simply amazing and nothing was too much trouble. You could ask questions about Mum's care, appointments etc and all the staff always had an answer for you. They are genuinely interested in the people they look after and have a lot of interaction and fun with them too. Sadly my mum passed away but throughout this experience the staff were brilliant. You will not find a better Care Home.
After suffering a TIA, my mother's condition deteriorated, and she had to be moved from a care home to a nursing home. Our hospital found her a bed in Sandown Nursing Home, and I could not have wished for a better placement. The care they provided from day one was faultless. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were always made very welcome whenever we went to visit her. She always looked comfortable, content and happy. On the day she sadly died, they were very supportive and explained what we and they had to do. In my opinion, you would be hard pushed to find a better, more caring home to look after your loved ones. So, from myself, my sisters and my brother, thank you so very much for the support and kindness you gave, not only to my mother but to us, her children, for the short time she was in your care.
My uncle was referred to Sandown Nursing Home directly, suffering from high blood pressure, terminal throat cancer and various other medical problems. The staff were welcoming, caring and very professional, and it was obvious whenever we visited that he was full of gratitude for everything they were able to do for him. Staff had time to answer questions, and we were reassured that he was in the best of hands. My family and I will always be grateful to the staff at Sandown Nursing Home for everything they were able to do for my uncle during his last weeks alive.
The care and attention that my mum received at Sandown Nursing Home were second to none. Following a severe stroke, my mum was extremely well looked after, nothing was ever too much trouble. They attended to her every need and tried everything to get her to eat and drink. With sadness, she passed yesterday. We were with her at the time, and the staff took care of us too. Our sincere thanks go to all the staff there, and thank you so much for the love and support you showed our family during this tragic time.
The standard of care my mother received the two weeks she was at this home was nothing less than substandard, unprofessional, degrading and with distinct lack of empathy. My mum was admitted at her own wishes, suffering from severe COPD and emphysema. She was on oxygen 24 hours a day which had to be fluctuated to balance her need for oxygen against the danger of the build-up of CO2 at the bottom of her lungs. The home understood my Mum's medical needs and gave the impression they could meet her needs. How wrong were we! The care staff did not have a clue and the registered nurses, namely one nurse, were no better. The lack of knowledge and training was astounding! My mum's oxygen levels were not set correctly, on one occasion was turned up instead of down, and was even knocked off by accident by the nurse on one occasion and she did not have a clue how to set the machine back on. These were just a couple of examples of many so please please please do not send your loved ones here!
The staff work as a team. Caring and professional. Welcoming from the first moment I rang the doorbell. The staff anticipate their needs. Individual care.
