View Full Details of Cornford HouseMy mother came to Cornford house for 2 weeks respite care following a small operation on her hand. Unfortunately the surgery took place later in the day then expected, which made her admission to Cornford house later than expected. I kept the home updated during the day and when we eventually got Mum there, they could not have been more welcoming. She was very tired and a little emotional and they were so kind to her, offering her a warm drink and something to eat. This level of care continued throughout her 2 week stay. Everyone was friendly to us when we visited and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend Cornford house to anyone who needed care. Also, the food was excellent and nutritious.
I found the home is like home from home so friendly staff.
I'm so impressed with everyone that works at Cornford House. They genuinely care and have been really supportive of my mum from the first day. You can tell that care and compassion is at the heart of everything they do. I'm reading things that my mum is doing (playing piano, joining in singing) that I couldn't imagine her doing. Her diet has improved so much too. Gone are the ready meals replaced with Sunday roast and fish n chips. Cornford House was recommended to me and I'm so glad it was.
Calm atmosphere. Helpful staff. Residents not hurried.
The staff are very kind and caring to all the residents on the floor where my husband is. The food is good and varied. My husband always looks tidy and clean and the staff take time to engage with him.
All staff, from management to support and nursing, been very helpful and caring for dealing with my 97 year old, very frail mother, who has been independent but now bed ridden - thank you.
I visited a relative with her nephew's wife, who has become resident here at Cornford after living independently. The staff are very attentive, all of them deserve gold stars if you ask me. We had lunch, there was a choice of food which was appetising, even two seagulls game to watch, I hasten to add outside the dining window. I felt Cornford is a safe place and not only the staff, but also the living areas are warm and welcoming and suited to particular resident needs. A Kentish tradition when visiting a love one is to bring a jar of strawberry jam/preserve as a gift especially when in care. Definitely take one and give to a staff or resident, you never know, they might let you try it on the rice pudding.
My mother unfortunately had to move from another care home and I was worried that the change would be detrimental to her mental health. However with the amazing care and attention shown to her by the staff she has settled straight in and is more than happy. The communication between the home and myself is very good. I am very happy that she has moved to Cornford House.
My mother was referred to Cornford House after being discharged from the local hospital. The care and attention she has been given since arriving a few months ago is exemplary. The staff are very attentive, friendly and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend Cornford House to prospective residents. The modern building is set in a quiet but easily accessible position and is surrounded by very attractive grounds.
The staff in here care. They listen to our concerns and try to help my mother-in-law as much as possible. They are accommodating of visits and look after us as well as her! Management is caring and responsive to any queries. There is also a varied social schedule for all residents.
Dad was here on respite he found the rooms and facilities good. We would have no problems using Cornford House again.
The place has an ambience of kindness and fun. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are lovely and my Mum and Dad are both well looked after. I can definitely recommend the place.
The home has residents care plans in place and these are reviewed regularly. The managers communicate resident's needs to the staff, and depending on their language skills, they usually administer good care. Any concerns are communicated to the nurse on duty. Activities are varied and inclusive where possible. Food is varied, but not always appropriate. I have heard residents moaning about corned beef hash and bubble and squeak - nutrition can be very basic - yoghurt seems to be an easy offer for residents, and pressed foods are frequently used. Overall a welcoming atmosphere and most residents are happy.
Cannot fault Cornford House at all. The staff are incredible, always extremely welcoming and supportive in every way! My grandad's needs are religiously met without any faults, highly recommend this home.
I am very pleased and grateful that my husband is a permanent resident of Cornford House. He has settled well and is peaceful. The staff are wonderful and show him such kindness and love. The activity team is excellent and does their utmost to include him whenever he is in the mood and I very much appreciate that members of staff take time to talk with him so that he doesn't feel too lonely. My grateful thanks to you all.
I feel very confident in the staff and care being given. The facilities and atmosphere at Cornford House speak for themselves. This is obviously a distressing time and you couldn't ask for better support.
The care staff that look after my mum are always very kind and always seem happy. They work incredibly hard. The home is impeccably clean as the cleaner goes above and beyond her normal duties. I feel that the residents on the second floor could do with more activities to help with their stimulation and also be let outside a lot more, to see a different scenery and get some fresh air.
Very lovely home and a nice atmosphere. Very kind staff. The garden is very pretty. My relative is very comfortable in this home and seems a lot brighter. Always looks very clean and tidy. The food is of a high standard
I feel that the home at times is understaffed. There was an incident last weekend, where a resident fell in their room and was crying out for help, thankfully we were visiting and heard her screams, and went to assist, before eventually finding help, whilst I appreciate the staff cant be everywhere at the same time, regular checks or walks should take place for the welfare of residents, regarding other areas rooms are very dated including furniture, the cleaner does an excellent job of maintaining cleanliness in the rooms and shower/wash area, the activity lady is superb in keeping the residents engaged and involved in activities. Can’t thank her enough. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, can’t comment on the management as I have never had the privilege to meet them, only “new resident manager” who seems very sincere.
Very happy overall. I’d like to thank you all in particular for your kindness and professionalism in dealing with Dad. I am aware that he is becoming more and more demanding and at times difficult. The care you give him is obvious and appreciated. Despite his frailty and declining health he always seems happy. It’s reassuring for me to know he’s in good hands.
