View Full Details of Barchester Emily Jackson House Care HomeOur dad moved to Emily Jackson House for some respite care after a week in hospital, following some falls at his home. We were undecided whether he should eventually return home or stay in long term care. Having seen dad spend 4 weeks in care, we noticed a big change in his attitude to life and an improvement in his general health. He is eating and drinking really well, is mixing with the other residents and seems much happier being around more people. The carers and all the other staff have been really friendly, professional, helpful and caring towards dad and also us. We looked at other care homes locally but decided dad was in the best place that he could be. Thanks to all the team.
Our mum spent 4 weeks in respite care. The management team and majority of staff were brilliant (one member, who has since left was not so great). The bedroom was very small - hence the reason we moved from here to another facility long term but perhaps there are larger rooms. The decor is pleasant but tired. The facility lacks some of the communal areas that other large homes have, meaning the activities program is more limited. Felt the reception area could be more 'open' - the window often partially closed. Excellent food, particularly the cake.
Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home has a lovely atmosphere and calming ambience. The staff are so caring and lovely and look after my mum really well, she is really happy there. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do for my mum.
Excellent care home. My husband was taken to Emily Jackson Care Home over Christmas from hospital. He was in a bad way. Since living at the care home he has been looked after very well and has improved a lot. The carers and staff really do care.
The staff are polite, kind and considerate. Management can not fault, always willing to help promptly.
My mum stayed at Emily Jackson House Care Home for respite care and enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the food and activities. Overall a positive experience and would recommend anyone needing respite service to do the same.
My husband has been a resident in this care home for nearly a year. In that time, he has definitely improved in his social skills, speech, attitude and sociability. This is all due to the excellent care he has received. He has enjoyed the activities and a few trips, made some new friends and tells me he is happy and more content.
I am very pleased with the care my mum is receiving. Her room is clean and well maintained. The chef is very good at considering my mum's meal requirements being vegetarian. The staff are caring and sensitive to my mum's needs. The activities staff have worked hard to encourage my mum to get involved. So thank you.
The staff at Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home were so kind and supportive to my mother. She arrived after falling in her flat and was confused and often difficult with the staff. The staff were wonderful at encouraging her to participate in activities and to make her feel part of the family there. My mother became ill in November and again, the staff were fantastic in the care they showed my mother and the support they gave me and my family during this very difficult period. The nursing staff were particularly good at explaining what was happening and were very kind with her throughout. I cannot thank them enough for all they did!
Very pleasant facility. From my first visit, I was met at reception with a kind and polite welcome. Nice, clean environment. All nursing staff are kind, friendly and professional. My father looks very well taken care of. He is all neat and well-kept. His room is always clean and tidy. Nurse to patient ratio is good. Pleasant environment for patients and relatives.
My mum spent September 2024 at Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home to undergo an NHS Continuing Healthcare Assessment. It was our family's first experience of a care home and we were very anxious. Mum had complex needs, had suffered a stroke and was in late stage dementia and had trouble communicating. We needn't have worried. The staff were amazing from the start. They were very respectful, compassionate and attentive to both her and to the other patients. One nurse, in particular, was good. Mum had been in hospital for over a month before going to the home and the staff/resident ratio was much higher at the home. Communication was excellent: they were always able to give us details about how Mum was getting on and they contacted us promptly to let us know if there were any issues in her care.
Mum has been at Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home for a few years now since moving from another home. Her well-being has significantly improved during her time there and for the first time in many years, she seems happy. The staff seem to really understand her and her needs which I'm grateful for.
I am happy to see my father thriving in Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home after a very difficult period trying to find somewhere he could settle. The staff are kind, responsive and friendly. Organised activities are increasing but there's no pressure for those (like my father) who sometimes would rather relax with a newspaper or the TV! The best recommendation I can give is that after eighteen months in the home, he looks as healthy as he has in years and is settled and peaceful. Thank you to everyone at Emily Jackson.
My father came into the home in October 2023. At the time, he was quiet and withdrawn. He is now a changed man, he is happy most of the time, his care has been excellent and compassionate, as he is blind as well as diabetic.
I would not recommend Emily Jackson home at all. There is very little care or compassion for the residents upstairs at the home, I believe this is all because of the management, especially the main manager. He didn't have any compassion for us as a family and clearly, some of the residents receive the same, if they seem to be harder work. The smell hits you every time you step out of the lift. My dad would be left days without being changed and weeks without being showered as he declined but given he has dementia this was most days. Dementia specialists they definitely are not. We worried every day about his care, arriving sometimes to find his feet black with dirt, walking around wet. Our visits were just to do his self-care He has been lucky enough to move and the difference is amazing. He is showered daily, clean, clothed, treated like a human being, being shown care within the first week. I believe the previous manager was amazing but this manager leaves a lot to be desired.
My sister was Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home for palliative care on 19/08/2024. In that short period, she was treated with respect and courtesy. All staff were friendly and polite. Being a private person, she did not wish to participate in the various social activities provided. This view was respected and adhered to. The care that she received in the final hours of her life was excellent and peaceful.
Mum has been in Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home for one and a half years and still, I have to ask if she can be washed, also hair wash. Her room is often grubby, I clean her bedside table every visit. She is self-funding, also only given cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner and still paying full price.
Mum was placed with Emily Jackson for 4 weeks following a long spell in hospital. Staff were kind and attentive. They took time to support us and listen to our concerns. All staff in whatever role showed attention to detail and thoroughness - all with steady compassion. The facilities are excellent so Mum was very comfortable.
Thank you so much to all the lovely and caring staff. You cared for Mum so wonderfully well. You cared and visited her at home beforehand and so quickly once she was referred. You were kind and respectful at all times. I loved how welcoming I was in the home at any time. I loved that me and Dad could have lunch with Mum on a Sunday. The food was really delicious. The medical attention she needed she to and was cared for beautifully at the end.
Very happy with the service and the staff are always happy and helpful.
