View Full Details of Maidstone Care CentreMy mum, who is 96 and has dementia, was admitted here from hospital after contracting pneumonia whilst at her previous care home. She remained in hospital for three weeks and her previous care home said that she could not return as they could no longer care for her needs. My sister and I were really worried about her going into a new care home but our worries were allayed almost immediately. The staff are really friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. You can see that they really care for their residents. They have been getting her out of bed (which didn't happen at the hospital), and sitting in her chair colouring in her books. I went in this morning and they had taken her for a shower which really pleased her. Mum is at the home for a 6 week assessment apparently but we are hoping she will be able to stay here as the staff are absolutely lovely, professional and committed to caring for our mum. It's hard to comment on other areas as mum has only been here for 2 weeks.
Whenever I turn up before midday my mum is still in bed, wet through and very distressed. Her clothes regularly go missing. There is a waft of urine as you walk down the corridor. You can always hear residents crying out for help. It's usually one of the visitors that goes to see them rather than the staff. The place has far too few staff members supporting the residents which results in the poor care.
Mum has received the best care here. She has found it hard to adapt and has not been easy for the staff. They have been so supportive of us as a family and my mum. I hope Mum settles down and can be happy here as the staff and care she has received couldn't be better.
Nan has settled into the home well. The manager is making good noticeable changes to the home. All staff are friendly and helpful. Nan seems to be enjoying her time in the home. Thank you to everyone.
Mum has been well looked after. She is so much better than when in hospital. Staff are excellent with Mum. The manager has been doing wonders at the home.
Very good. I've had nothing that would cause me any concerns.
My husband has settled in and is treated with care and consideration even though he is a very challenging resident. The staff are amazing!
On my visit to my long-term loyal friend, I was greeted by staff who were very friendly and caring to the resident and myself. I felt feeling that my friend was very well looked after and the staff actually care about the patients' wellbeing.
Everyone is very helpful and kind. I think that they go out of their way to help feed my wife. The rooms are all clean, no nasty smells. The choice of food is good, it is hot and well cooked. Nurses and management very helpful.
Our friend, has been in this home for a while now. Whenever we visit he appears to be very well cared for and safe. We are glad he is here.
Overall pleased with Mum's care. Carers all very pleasant. Mums meals are not ideal but that is mainly due to her ability to chew and swallow only soft food. She has soup most evenings but there is very limited choice of soup. I have rated food and drink poor because of Mum's experience.
I've provided the ratings to the best of my ability but obviously only see what's happening during visits. My stepdad has had a few falls whilst being here, which is a little concerning, also seems to spend lots of time alone.
Due to my lifestyle I do not visit often, but communications via telephone or email has been very good. When I am able to visit, staff have all been friendly and helpful. My mum, even when she is confused, seems to have settled well, and is slowly showing signs of her old-self. Thank you to all staff at Maidstone Care Centre.
My step father has been cared for very well. His 1 to 1 carer is attentive and knowledgeable about him. All the staff are kind and easy to talk to.
My nan has settled in really well and is acting like she is at home. She seems happy and chatty with all the carers and nurses.
I came to see my aunt today, I found her to be happy and chatty. The lady I knew is still in there. I spent an hour chatting to her and her friend. The care she is receiving is very reassuring. All the staff are patient and kind.
Really pleased to hear 4 qualified staff are being employed and new plans are put into progress, especially regarding activities. I would like to see more 1:1 with my husband. I shout out to two particular members of staff for the care they show my husband and to a particular nurse for her support to me today.
We had a very poor experience with Maidstone Care Centre. My father-in-law was discharged from the hospital there. He was not given a shower/bath/hair wash for 8 weeks, he was encouraged to 'go in his pad' when he asked to use the toilet. Clients are not sat up at the table for meals but instead given a tray on their lap. They are not regularly toileted. We witnessed very rough manual handling of another client and also saw another lady undress in the lounge, and staff did nothing to stop her, cover her up or maintain her dignity, despite the fact we were in there with our teenage sons. So very sad to see. Luckily we moved my father-in-law to a much better home.
Very pleased at how well my husband has settled and how content he looks whenever we come to see him. He is being very well cared for and never asks if we've come to take him home.
Rochester suite is a depressing, poorly run unit. Staffing levels are inadequate and not conducive to building any relationships with residents. Record keeping is inaccurate and incomplete. There is no accountability for the remote GP ward rounds, resulting in serious medical neglect. Recommend before allowing your relative be admitted here you check which floor they will be on.
