View Full Details of Wells House Nursing HomeThe marvellous building tires inside. Bathroom impossibly small for tall person. But, cosy room with wonderful view made up for it. All staff were kind, respectful, helpful and empathetic and made the last weeks for our father, and us, as good as they could be. Me and my siblings were utterly grateful to them all and their kindness to us and the knowledge that our beloved dad was looked after beautifully was perfect. Thank you!
At a time of generally adverse criticism of UK nursing/care home services, it proved very reassuring to find that Wells House Nursing Home is able to offer a really efficient service to those in need of professional care in the latter stages of life.
My mother has been at Wells House on palliative care for a couple of weeks. I cannot offer higher praise for the standard of care she has received. The staff are polite, sensitive and respectful. My mother has a lovely room with a view of the garden. I feel that I am welcome to visit at any time but when I cannot be there I am certain my mother is well cared for and lacking for nothing.
My mother has been at Wells House for 5 months, she was very worried about going into a nursing home, however her stay has been only positive. The care and support she received has been of the highest quality. The staff from nurses to chefs has been wonderful. I have worked in the care sector for 33 years and I could not be happier or more confident that my mother is being cared for by an amazing team. I would recommend this home to anybody looking for a relative or loved one.
Cannot fault the home and the care. Food is fabulous, lovely touch, chef visits for the food order. All staff friendly, sense of humour and incredibly caring.
Having been in hospital for two weeks following major surgery and not sleeping once on the main ward I arrived at Wells House exhausted. On stepping into the hallway I immediately felt better. The staff were lined up to greet me. From that moment on I improved daily. The staff so friendly, the activities lady amazing. The chefs and freshly cooked food, amazing. I had eaten very little in hospital. I was on a little and often low-fibre diet, all my needs catered for.
I cannot thank the staff enough for the loving care my aunt received in her final hours on 13/12/23. The end-of-life care given by a particular member of staff was impeccable as well as night care staff. My aunt arrived at Wells House 22 months ago when we thought we were going to lose her but with all the care and support she received, she proved us all wrong including the staff. I believe she had many happy times there and I thank you very much to the five members in particular to mention a few that I had dealings with.
I couldn't wish for better for my mother. She is very well cared for, the staff are excellent, she is warm and safe and receives all her medication and the food is well presented and varied. She is also mentally and physically stimulated.
After endless sleepless nights and days spent searching for a suitable nursing home, I finally feel I've found the perfect forever home for my mum after she'd suffered a stroke. From the outset, my mum and I (and my dog!) received a warm welcome and have continued to feel comfortable in a peaceful homely environment - with a beautiful garden and lovely sea views. My mum appears to have settled in well and the care she's received to date has been excellent. When the time comes, many years from now (hopefully!), I shall book myself a room here too. Big thank you to everyone at Wells House for giving me peace of mind.
When I come to visit, my friend is 80% of the time in bed. As she has a stroke, she needs to be moved and out of bed as much as possible. One gets the feeling that carers just want an easy life as they are all sitting in the sitting room on their mobiles or in their office on their computer.
I have been very pleasantly surprised as it has been so unlike my perception of care homes. Everybody is so friendly and professional and can't do enough for you. I am in respite but if I ever needed a care home I would highly recommend Wells House.
Wells House has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. My Mother has settled in well and is enjoying the food and activities. She has a lovely clean room with sea views. The nursing staff are attentive and caring, managing her medical needs and ensuring her well-being.
My mother needed urgent nursing care following a debilitating stroke. Wells House facilitated her admission in the face of numerous administrative difficulties. They did this with thought and care to my mother's wishes and dignity. On admission, she was well looked after by nurses who addressed her medical and nursing needs. Even within a day, she seemed at ease and not anxious about our leaving. The professional care was refreshing to us all, as the sea breeze through the window. Cannot recommend more highly!
Competence, efficiency and kindness don't come together that often but in the case of Wells House Nursing Home, this is what I experienced. the overall manager was exceptional in helping us as a family to move my mother-in-law from a care home to the nursing home she so needed. This was organized in a matter of three days against all odds from the system. My mother-in-law who is very frail looked visibly happier once settled. The carer who fed her did so with such a gentle and caring approach, the first time she had eaten a meal in four days.
I have visited my neighbour on occasion and she is very happy at Wells House, she is comfortable and well looked after. I attended a meeting with my neighbour's husband and was very impressed with the caring staff, conditions and plans for the future. Not knowing the money situation I cannot provide a rating for value for money.
The care provided to my nan is great. she is happy and has no complaints.
My mother is a resident of Wells House. She was very upset when she had to go into a care home, but the staff of Wells House have been so kind to her, and have made her very welcome. She has now settled and is very happy there. I am an ex-nurse, and I am extremely happy with the care provided by all the staff. They are all so professional. The matron is extremely good, she leads all her staff well, and always contacts me if there is any change in my mother's condition or treatment plan. She encourages me to contact her with any concerns, any time, night or day. I would not hesitate in recommending Wells House to anyone needing a very good nursing home.
Lovely welcome. We were met with a very friendly atmosphere. My husband was very unsettled at first, but the staff were very patient and reassured/sat with him and he settled in after 2-3 days. The care and attention afforded to my husband, who needed a high level of supervision, was outstanding and very reassuring for me. The quality of food was also commendable. When it came to the end of his respite care, he openly said to me and the staff that he would be happy to come back again.
Well done.
My great regret is that I did not get my wife into Wells House earlier while she could appreciate the room and the care. Unfortunately, she was very ill when discharged from the hospital. The room was great, view down through the trees to the sea, my wife would have loved it. The staff were all exceptional, friendly, caring and always wanting to do the best for the resident. I could not have asked for better. My special thanks to two main carers. If you are looking for a small, caring home then I can thoroughly recommend Wells House.
