We have always been very happy with the care my brother gets. He is always treated him as a valued person and not just a resident. His medical care has always been first class. The nurses, at St Stephens, now do their utmost to keep him out of hospital. Rules must be adhered, but we are so grateful for the work the nurses do to ensure he does not have to suffer a hospital stay. One of the main reasons for such a good and happy environment at St Stephens is having a manager who is out of her office making sure that everyone is happy and well looked after and taking the trouble to get to know very well each resident and their family. The manager is the heart of St Stephens; we have utmost confidence in her and the manager has become a friend. St Stephens is a happy place - we have attended numerous parties where family members are always made to feel welcome, and the manager is there to welcome us when we visit. My brother is in the best of hands, in a happy, caring, and loving environment.
It's always a pleasure to visit the home. The staff are always engaging and involve the residents in all parts of our visit. I have been visiting for the past three years - the care and the staff have been consistent and I feel confident that our family member is getting the very best care. The manager is approachable, friendly and there is mutual respect between the staff and residents. It's encouraging to see a care home running so well and I commend the team's work.
I always feel welcomed at the home. The staff and manager do a great job and are proactive in the care and support of our family member. We feel lucky to have found such a great home and appreciate everything the staff do.
Always made to feel welcome, informed of seasonal events. My sister is well presented, clean and happy. She has a good circle of friends, is involved in choice of meals/drinks and always has lots of news to share with me about events she has been to and enjoyed.
My sister has been at St. Stephens for over 12 years now. When she first moved in she was able to walk and talk. Eat lovely meals and enjoy afternoons out with other residents. The care at that time was second to none. She always looked clean and was happy and contented. Sadly my sister' has declined since Covid. She now is non-weight-bearing. Needs her food blended and can no longer communicate as before. The devoted care to my sister hasn't changed. She always looks clean and her hair is always pretty. I am away for 2 months at a time once a year and I have no concerns about leaving her. Her food is blended now but it's still home-cooked food. I have no worries about leaving my sister as I know she is always loved and cared for. I do not hesitate to recommend St Stephens to interested parties. The 12 years have just flown by and I am forever grateful that I was lucky enough to find St. Stephens. Most definitely a home-from-home.
Amazing nursing home, a very welcoming and very pleasant staff and management, my sister moved here after being very unhappy in her previous care home and she absolutely loves it, She settled very quickly and continues to remain very happy
My sister has been in St Stephen's for 10 years, and we have always found the staff helpful and friendly. The Manager and the nurses are always available to talk to if any problems arise, the food is excellent always home-cooked two members of staff in particular, and residents always have a good choice.
I am very pleased that my brother-in-law is being cared for at St Stephen's. He has multiple physical and mental disabilities and is very dependent, in fact now confined to a wheelchair. We recently attended a BBQ at the home which allowed us to meet other residents and their families. We were happy to contribute to improving the garden area to make it more desirable and therefore more likely to be used in fine weather. I feel fresh air is essential especially when movement is restricted. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and give us information about my brother-in-law's health as requested. Most importantly my brother-in-law seems very settled at the home. We have even been able to get him delivered to a local park in his wheelchair to celebrate his birthday. He has had several hospital visits/stays and staff have been very supportive including staying with him or visiting him if we could not get there due to being away.
My cousin has been a resident at St Stephen's for over six years. During my visits I can see that the staff are all very caring and go out of their way to provide a home from home environment in an understanding and sympathetic way. Prior to finding St Stephen's I viewed very many homes looking for that special place that would feel like home. I believe that I found it at St Stephen's, which is small enough to give that personal touch and provide a caring environment from experienced and friendly staff.
My sister couldn’t be better looked after anywhere else. Staff are professional, efficient and caring; I am kept in touch with how my sister is doing regularly. Medical care is always available, and the well-being of my sister is managed admirably.
When my husband and I first visited St Stephen’s, we were welcomed with such warmth by staff and residents. The staff were all happy and jolly, and as we were introduced to all the residents, you could see that they were all very happy too. Different activities for the residents to do every day, and when visiting my sister after her being there for just a short time, I could see she had settled and was really happy. Couldn’t have asked for more.
My son has been a resident for a year. When I first visited the home, I was very impressed by the ‘homely’ feel of the house and how happy the other residents were. After that visit, my family and I were unanimous that St Stephen’s would be the best home for my son. My son has settled very well and is very receptive to the nursing staff attending to his many needs, which are comforting for the family. I am very impressed by the communication by the manager and staff, where nothing is too much trouble as he needs 1:1 care. I would not hesitate in recommending St Stephen’s for outstanding care in a friendly and homely environment.
Although it has been many weeks since we have been able to visit my sister - due to Coronavirus - we always get a good response when phoning St Stephen's and we feel confident she is being well looked after.
My brother, who is a wheelchair user, is looked after very well in this care home. No negative comments about the home. Very well-staffed, good food, accommodation excellent. Would recommend as a complete home for all needs.
My brother has been a resident of St Stephen's for several years. His needs have changed a great deal since he first arrived. He has always been looked after well and treated kindly and thoughtfully.
We visit St Stephen's about four times a year and always find the staff hospitable and welcoming and all the facilities we use (bathroom) kept to a high standard. My sister-in-law is always ready to come out with us and is always happy - a sure sign that all is well. It is, however, very difficult to give precise opinions on the subject matters below because we don't, for example, visit her bedroom, see the food she eats, etc.
I have always been impressed by the care and consideration shown by the staff at St Stephen's both to my sister and the other residents whenever I have visited. The happy and contented; atmosphere speaks volumes, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
My late brother was in care at St Stephen's for 4 years and although his first year he found difficult, after that until his death on April 19th 2017, he was very happy. The home was filled with love and happiness and it showed. The carers did more than their jobs worth with everything they did. Not only did the residents get a hug, so did we as relatives on arrival, it was and still is lovely, as I still go down to see some of the residents and they are all so very happy and loved. It's a 70 mile round trip for me but I still want to do it, because it's worth it.
I have been visiting for more than three years, first as a friend of a person previously living there. I have never been in a more friendly and welcoming home. Since visiting the first time as a friend of a brother of one of the inhabitants. I have, unofficially, become 'Grandma' of another inhabitant. Whatever time of day or day of the week we visit, conditions are always the same - friendly, welcoming and everyone in a happy contented state!
The home is beautifully kept! Very clean. The food is very good. Residents all seem happy, with the staff and each other. Staff seem to enjoy working in the home.
