View Full Details of Wilmington Manor Care HomeAlthough my mum has only been a resident in Wilmington manor Care Home for a week, she has settled in very quickly and seems very happy. My overall experience is excellent, food and activities as well.
My dad was sadly only in the home for a short while, but he was cared for in a professional and friendly manner. The staff: The Manager, the Deputy Manager, the carers along with all the other members of staff were very helpful and did all they could to help my Dad and support us. My mum moved in at the same time as my Dad and she is doing very well under their care. The team have been understanding and attentive to Mum's needs. The home is very clean and has a homely atmosphere, and always welcomes us as visitors at any time of the day. The food is good and there are some lovely gardens and activities to take part in.
All mum's needs are seen to, and she is cared for in first class. She had a great day with the staff on her birthday. The home is very clean. The food is first class. My mum is showered daily, so she is always clean.
My mother resided in Wilmington for the last ten months and I cannot fault the wonderful care she received. There is a warm atmosphere in the home and the staff are kind, attentive and sensitive to everyone's needs. There is a varied and full range of activities available, the communication app is very useful, and the staff go above and beyond to make the residents and their visiting families feel cared for and welcome. The staff at Wilmington are extremely respectful and operate in a very professional and transparent way.
Please do not put your loved one in this home. My poor mother had diabetes and after her stroke she was on level 5 'soft moist diet' as she couldn't swallow properly. On her first night, the nurse served her sandwiches and Mum started choking - my sister said she couldn't eat that kind of food. The nurse proceeded to look at the notes and asked if she had diabetes and it was the first red flag as it was clear the nurse had not yet read Mum's medical history. Twice she was admitted to Hospital due to high glucose emergencies from the chocolate mousses she had. I discovered an abscess the size of a tennis ball, Paramedics told us she was close to developing sepsis. I discovered the abscess at 3.30pm and Management said that the carer had in fact discovered 'that same morning' but didn't have time to alert the nurse on duty. Surgeons said for an abscess to grow to that size takes weeks if not months! It's something you could not miss if she was receiving appropriate personal care.
Dad spent 5 weeks in Wilmington Manor for respite care. He had spent just over 2 months prior to that in hospital following a fall (resulting in an arm break) and was rapidly deteriorating. We (the family) were faced with a choice of an Assessment Bed where medical staff would assess his needs following which a Nursing Home would have most likely been his destination or trialing him at home with a Care Package. We decided to send Dad to Wilmington Manor in the hope that he would improve mentally and physically and then would be better placed to move back home. The improvement was astonishing. He loved the meals and started to put on weight. The staff were absolutely brilliant and we built a good relationship with them all. While Dad was in the care home he met 2 other residents who used to go to Wilmington Manor a couple of times a year (for respite care) and I am not surprised. We will stay in touch with the staff and if Dad needs some respite care in the future, we will know where to go!
My mum went into this care home in January 2024. I can honestly, genuinely say it has become better and better as the months went on. More staff attending and responding to needs. Always friendly and willing to assist. Activities are very good. Even though my mum doesn't participate as she has late-stage dementia and stays in her room. I often pop down into the lounge and sit and watch. My dog comes in too and residents love stroking him. My sister and I are very pleased with how the house is run. After initial reservations, all this has been reduced to zero.
Dad has been at Wilmington Manor for 6 months and has settled in well. Dad is happy here and really well looked after and getting the care he really needs. The staff are wonderful, caring, always friendly and respectful.
I looked at several homes when looking for respite care for my aunt but was instantly drawn to the warmth and homely feel of Wilmington Manor. She has now been a permanent resident for 8 months and all her many care needs have been met in a kind and respectful way. There is also an endless amount of activities and entertainment on offer to keep residents engaged and happy. The staff at the home are warm, friendly and supportive to the residents and their relatives. I have found the relatives gateway a great way to keep track of how my aunt is doing on the days I am unable to visit. I have always found it easy to communicate with staff and there is always someone to talk to or help with any aspect of my aunt’s care. I would not hesitate to recommend Wilmington Manor to anyone looking for care for their loved one.
5* all throughout. Having a friend or relative in a care home is extremely stressful but if I had to pick a care home it would be this one. There is a lot more here than care they generally interact with residents and really do care about them and have fun with them.
Brilliant care home, couldn't ask for a better team to look after our friend. They go above an beyond for him an us. Not just the care stuff but everyone at Wilmington, couldn't recommend them enough.
My wife has been a resident of Wilmington Manor for around nine months. In that time our experience has been superb. She is well cared for with any care or medical issues being dealt with immediately. Any such issues are swiftly communicated to me as her husband. She enjoys every meal and we are always impressed with the choice of good food. Welcoming staff are friendly with good interpersonal skills in dealing with residents and their visitors. With a wide range of activities such as exercise, painting, craft work and fabric work, the residents have the opportunity to rekindle long-forgotten skills. Some activities are conducted by visiting 'experts' who are excellent at considering the needs of their audience. Entertainment is provided a couple of times a month and proves very popular with residents. The gardens are very well kept and when the weather permits form an excellent backdrop for activities. A well-managed home, I cannot recommend Willmington Manor highly enough.
Excellent care given to my mother. Staff very friendly and respectful. My only regret is that we didn’t find this home sooner. Unfortunately, she was only there for a couple of months before she sadly passed away. My mother was very happy there. The food was very good and lovely views from the dining room into the garden. Highly recommend.
Mum has been a resident at Wilmington Manor for several years now. Bearing in mind some of the worrying stories you hear on the news about other care homes, during the time she has been there, I have never once had any concerns about her safety. Mum is always treated with dignity and compassion. All of the staff (from all disciplines) are friendly and engaged with the residents and relatives. The recent refurbishment works have really lifted the ambience of the building, and the garden is also well cared for. The introduction of the IT system, which documents the care Mum has received every day is brilliant – I can log in and see exactly how she’s been (a particular benefit when she recently needed to be monitored more regularly than normal). Nowhere is ever going to be the same as home, but if a care home is required, I would certainly recommend Wilmington Manor. Thank you to everybody there.
My brother praises the kitchen staff and food. Says it was the best and always cooked well. My experience (sister) was always good and friendly staff.
Mum came here about 6 weeks ago for a 2 week trial, and has decided to stay permanently. This is a lovely home with a real family feel for residents and visiting relatives. The care given to Mum so far has been excellent, nothing seems to be too much trouble. All the staff seem to support each other to ensure the residents are well looked after. They try to make the activities inclusive for as many as possible and work so hard to do so. The management team are approachable and listens to ideas and suggestions, implementing those that make improvements. On the odd occasion when a problem does arise and it is brought to their attention, they are very quick to act and put things right. Well done and thank you to everyone at Wilmington Manor.
I was worried about my mum when she came to the nursing home as she previously lived in her home for 66 years. However, it was not long before I realised she was happy here and that the staff are very caring and look after her extremely well. The care is second to none and I am very happy that my mum is well cared for and her needs are well kept.
My mum has been in Wilmington Manor for over 4 years, she has been well looked after. The staff all know her and her likes and dislikes, A few months ago Mum said she felt safe in there, she always enjoys her food if she does not like what is on offer the kitchen staff will always cook something else she likes. We are very pleased overall.
Everything is very good and my mum seems happy there which is the main thing for us. There is not much more to mention really as she has been there for a few years now beginning with respite care at first.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for looking after my dad over the past year. I hope you all realise what a difference you make to not only the residents' lives but to those of their families too. Myself, my family and friends are so grateful for the love, care and friendship you showed to not only my dad but to us too. Thank you all.
