View Full Details of Withens Nursing HomeA wonderfully friendly, clean and caring home. Range of activities and lots of thought and kindness given to residents and their family. They even have a wonderful therapy dog that visits and brightens up the day!
Mum moved into Withens on the 16th of December. And our first impressions have been very positive. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, both to Mum and us the family. The home itself is also bright and airy with plenty of room. But most importantly the level of care seems excellent.
I have been visiting The Withens Nursing Home for a few months to see my friend. I have always been made to feel welcome. The home is genuinely a home from home to the residents who are so well cared for. From the carers to the activities they really do try to cater for everyone. My friend is encouraged to join other residents in the lounge where they have many activities but on days when she feels like staying in her room the staff visit regularly to check on her and always with a smile.
We chose this home for Mum because it felt instantly homely and welcoming. All staff that I've met have been friendly, helpful and genuinely caring and even though Mum is bed-bound and can't take part in activities, the lovely activities staff do come in to chat to her too. We particularly liked the fact that some staff have been at Withens for many years. Mum's dietary needs are well catered for, the food is good and freshly cooked on the premises daily, there's always plenty on offer, even if it's not on the menu. Mum's room (with lovely garden view) seemed to have been freshly decorated before arrival and every effort was made by the caretaker to help make her room and outlook personalised, hanging pictures and he even put fairy lights up for her! It's been two months since Mum came here and I honestly feel we made the right and best choice in homes for her in our area. Thank you all.
My mother joined Withens at the end of August and I must say how impressed I am with her care so far. Any teething problems were quickly resolved by the superb management and the whole team. The fact that some of the staff have been at Withens for over 20 years speaks volumes. The food is excellent, and the ongoing refurbishments are making it even more comfortable for all of the residents and their families. Making it more like a home-from-home rather than a nursing home. Carry on doing what you are doing!
My dad was with you for 2 years. He loved everyone who looked after him, especially the ones who would pop a chocolate in his mouth as they passed his room. We could not have wished for a better home for him. Staff that genuinely did care. I would highly recommend Whithens.
Mum seems to have settled here well. The staff and carers are doing a great job. My only concern is I don't see any interaction with the other residents, but that may well be Mum's own wishes. She was always very social but now seems a little isolated. But on the whole, Withens is doing a good job.
Every time we visit the staff are always friendly and accommodating. The facilities are very good and everything clean (no nasty wee smells). My sister is well cared for which is what is most important for all.
Had a lovely afternoon at the garden party with our dad. All of the staff are so kind and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad is happy here and we know that he is well thought of and cared for by everyone who works here. Thank you so much for all you do for our dad.
My dad has recently moved in and I've got to say what a lovely friendly smooth and put us at ease as a family. The manager made the moving in process smooth and put us at ease as a family. We attended the garden party and fully enjoyed it with Dad, the staff were very welcoming and made the experience really nice. Well done everyone!
Very friendly staff, lovely surroundings. My dad is noticeably happier.
The home is a friendly and warm place. My dad's mood and health have improved significantly since being here. The staff are loved and make me feel reassured that my dad is in a safe environment. I cannot thank them enough.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful and make us feel welcome at any time. (The free coffee machine makes excellent coffee, which is lovely after a long drive). The room she is in is bright with a lovely garden view and she has everything she needs. While visiting, I have observed some activities to interest the residents. She has been taken into the beautiful conservatory overlooking the garden and looks forward to getting out into the garden one day, an activity she misses. I have seen how the other residents are well cared for and they appear happy. The meals are varied and look delicious. The dining room looks very attractive but residents can eat in the lounge or in their rooms. My brother-in-law stayed there a few years ago and I remember the many activities taking place for everyone to get involved with.
My 94-year-old aunt had a bad fall at her home in Surrey and after being in hospital we moved her to Withens so she could be near family. The home was so helpful with her move and has helped her to settle in, all the staff are friendly and kind. Her room is comfortable and looks out over the trees which she likes. The food looks good and she always has plenty to drink and eat. I am pleased I chose Withens for my aunt.
The care that my father receives is really good, the staff are really friendly and totally 'get him'. No matter what time of day we visit staff are visible and supportive. I feel listened to when raising concerns and these are acted upon. The whole family feels comfortable at the home, whether that be adults/grandchildren or pets. There are always refreshments available, which makes it feel more homely. My dad is involved with choosing what he wants to eat which is really important to him. My dad is bedbound and therefore spends a number of hours looking at the same space, we have been encouraged to add the homely touch but still doesn't take away some of those long hours. The staff are great and do take the time to talk with him. The activity coordinator is amazing but needs to share their time amongst those people who can mobilise and those who remain in their rooms.
My 93-year-old relative moved to Withens Nursing Home in November 23 following an accident and a period in hospital. Due to the support from all the staff it was a seamless transition from hospital to the home. She was encouraged to bring many beloved items and furniture from her home thus enabling her to feel home from home. The nursing care is exemplary picking up at the earliest opportunity any problems and acting very swiftly. I am notified immediately of any concerns. The staff are extremely professional, approachable and supportive to my relative.
I would like to see my friend have time down in the "lounge" and have communication with the other residents. As she seems to be isolated which does not help with her condition.
My only concern is for stimulation/companionship - to be able to sit in the lounge if possible. I would like mum to have more fluids - always thirsty. The staff are always willing to hear my concerns and are polite and well presented.
I have been visiting the Withens Nursing Home for the previous ten years as a pastoral care visitor for the local church. I always feel welcomed and acknowledged as from the "church". The staff have some difficult residents who are always treated with the utmost kindness and respect. I would highly recommend for any of my relatives to be cared for there.
My husband has Lewy body dementia and has been at the Withens Nursing Home for 6 months. During that time he has been cared for with great patience by the staff. Without exception, all the carers have looked after him with great kindness. I am also made to feel welcome and kept informed of my husband's health. The Withens is a fantastic home.
