View Full Details of The Close Care HomeI was a resident for 2 weeks. The staff were all pleasant. The food was excellent. The room was kept very clean and I was cared for very well. The friendship between the residents, the care staff and the senior staff was very good. My daughter reported that everyone she dealt with in the home were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my mobile telephone was unable to get a signal while I was a resident which made it very difficult for me to contact my family & vice versa. I am told that this is a known problem and many telephone networks do not have signal inside the care home.
My husband has been a resident of Clifton Wing for three years. He is totally dependent on the staff for all his needs and requires full-time specialist care from the manager and her team. The staff are his main carers who are so dedicated and kind where nothing is too much of a problem. A special thank you to the carer who transported my husband to our son's wedding and accompanied him throughout the service and the photographs. We are always delighted to speak to the staff on reception who are very supportive with any issues or concerns that I might have. Finally you have all been wonderful and it's so reassuring to know he's in the best care home possible.
The staff were truly outstanding, treating my mother with incredible warmth and empathy. The entire team of carers in Willows were beyond fabulous. They were caring, professional, and always attentive. I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful care they provided, ensuring my mother was looked after with the utmost kindness. Their dedication and compassion made all the difference during such a challenging time.
My Granddaughter of 23 years old has been at The Close Care Home for 2.5 years. I have never seen her so happy, content, relaxed and well cared for. Although she is the youngest there, all the carers and other residents communicate with her which makes her smile. She has physio on a regular basis and takes part in many of the activities that they provide, including music sessions which are her favourite. She has a main carer and they have so much fun together and it is very obvious they are close. Her main carer knows all her nonverbal signs and can interpret the meaning to give her the very best care. Her other carers are also very much respected and love my granddaughter very much and it shows every day. Two other staff members are also very supportive of my granddaughter in every way and overall I couldn't be more pleased with everything at Close Care.
The care home has a lovely warm homely feel to it with really friendly staff. My friend is so well cared for and happy here. The staff cannot do enough for all residents and show such care and compassion. Care home is extremely clean and good facilities.
My mother has been living at The Close now for over seven years. The continuity of care has been amazing, adapting to her changing needs as her illness progresses. She is not only well cared for physically but truly loved and respected as well. The nursing and care staff constantly go above and beyond with cheerfulness and professionalism. Management is visible and supportive. Ancillary staff join in making the place feel as much like home as possible for residents and visitors. The food is freshly cooked and the option of a café where residents can eat alongside visitors is great. The activities are varied and regular and so beneficial for the more social residents like my mother. The physical environment is excellent inside and out with beautiful gardens sweeping down to the river. Everything is kept pristine. We arrived at The Close at a time of family crisis. We are grateful we found a place where my mother can live her best life.
The resident that I visit up to 3 times a week has come on leaps and bounds since being at The Close Care home. He is happy and content. Responds well to all staff and residents. His mobility has improved with the superb support he receives from the physio team and the carers who support him daily. He is less stressed and agitated. All staff including the non-care staff greet the residents by name and chat with them. The meals are top level and dietary requirements are met. There is a wide range of daily activities for the residents to take part in and the residents are asked what activities and outings they would like to do. The activities team are great and support the residents to take part in the activities. They are friendly and very approachable. The management team are always on hand and responds to any questions/queries straightaway. They know the residents and stop and chat with them. The home is always spotlessly clean.
The staff at The Close are friendly and helpful and all go above and beyond. The choice of meals provided is fantastic as are the activities. The Activities Lead ensures there entertaining things for all to do. The home is kept to a high standard.
My wife is a resident of The Close from May 2022. She has a dementia and needs 24/7 care. At first I was afraid that my wife will be unhappy to live in the care home but the atmosphere in The Close is so friendly and caring that both my wife and me are very happy with the choice! I think the Administration of this care home have done a tremendous job in building a wonderful team of carers, nurses and support personel around all residents. Your work is much appreciated!
We looked at many Care Homes before we came across The Close. It was by far the best we had seen. It was beautifully clean and didn't have that smell, and as we were looking around everyone spoke to us. The location is great, it overlooks the River Thames and the grounds are delightful and very well-kept. Dad went into The Close from the hospital in August 2023. He has a lovely room with a door overlooking the garden and is welcome to do some gardening there. Once the better weather comes, he can sit outside and relax just like he would have done at home. He enjoys chats in the Bistro with a coffee and a piece of cake. I think the thing for us is that they know what they are doing in The Close and manage Dad's sometimes challenging behaviour very well. He did take a while to settle in, but it's just like home for him now. They know his ways and his routines and there is good communication with us if any issues arise.
Our dad is currently residing at The Close. He is so happy calm and relaxed, we all enjoy visiting him. It’s great to take him to the Bistro downstairs and enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits from the staff member who serves behind the counter with a friendly smile. Thanks to the hairdresser, who makes Dad look smart with his haircuts and eyebrow trims. Activities are run throughout the week and we would like to thank the team for the joy and fun my dad gets from this, along with us when we visit. Thanks for the care from the nurses who are always professional and really friendly. The carers and housekeeper are lovely, friendly and really lovely to Dad. We would like to thank many more staff members in the home. We would like to thank the managers, who run this really lovely care home where my dad is so happy and relaxed. Thank you from our family.
I have been a resident in two care homes, previously, both rated good. However, it is evident that there is a very wide range in the 'Good' category. In my opinion, having lived here for 8 months, The Outstanding CQC rating of The Close is well deserved. It is staffed above the minimum level. The carers seem happy in their work and almost without exception go out of their way to improve the quality of life for Residents even though, at times, this must be quite challenging. The Management is determined to ensure that we are treated like individuals and with respect. There is nothing about The Close that I can seriously fault. I will be forever grateful to my children who found the ideal place for me to live out my twilight years.
The Close is a warm and caring place. Everyone is treated with dignity and kindness. I cannot speak highly enough of it. The lady in the bistro is one in a million, patient with all and goes above and beyond in her care for residents and visitors without fail. So many names come to mind, the list is endless. In general, a care home is not an easy place to come and live but The Close is the nearest place to being perfect.
I visited my brother with my sister-in-law, his wife. My brother was admitted from the Hospital after a fall because his legs could not bear his weight and he was a danger to himself and injured his wife. Since becoming a patient in The Close he seems to have become very withdrawn and unable to speak much. He was lying in his bed with no pillow under his head and no cover. He was wearing a nappy and a shirt. Had we brought his grandchildren that would have been very distressing for them. My brother was a soldier and proud to be one. To see him in such undignified circumstances was quite distressing. He will never complain or make a fuss but just said that he wanted to go home and tried to climb over the bed rails. My sister-in-law is unable to get to the care home as there is no public transport, and she has difficulty hearing conversations on the phone, so she is unable to ask questions and would appreciate some proactive feedback as to what is being done for him.
My mother, who will be 96 in July, has been a resident at The Close Care Home for three years and my brother and I are delighted with the care she receives. Last weekend, to celebrate His Majesty's upcoming Coronation, The Close organised a street party-style event and it was heartwarming to see so many of the residents, their family members and carers together. The entertainment was first-class and the food delicious. Mum has dementia but is treated with dignity and respect by the wonderful caring staff. She's not on any medication and can become agitated but the majority of the time she's contented and happy, a tribute to the wonderful care she receives.
We have been very grateful to The Close for caring for my husband after his brain haemorrhage in May. He has had very good care and there is a friendly atmosphere. The gardens in the summertime were a great pleasure and we pushed him around them every day.
I would just like to thank the team in the Willows for looking after my Dad so well whilst he was staying in a hub bed and waiting to go home. The care he received was outstanding and it was a lovely touch to find out that when he left all his clothes had been washed and all belongings packed well. Keep up the good work, it was much appreciated.
Extremely friendly staff and managers. All are very approachable. Very caring with attention to detail.
My father is a resident at The Close. He has been here since May this year and is in a hub bed at the moment and we are hoping he will become permanent soon. The quality of care, the staff, and the overall running of the home is excellent. They are so well looked after and nothing is too much trouble. Family also get looked after with the offer of a cup of tea and the odd slice of cake as well - happy days. It is recommended by myself and my family 100%.
My mother recently stayed at The Close awaiting home support, she sadly passed away 21/05/2019. During her time at The Close, she received very supportive care from the care team, when she refused to eat, they individually encourage her and tempted her at every meal, even the chef visited her to tell her he would cook anything she desired, this made her feel so special. l personal found the care staff and the lady who was part of the housekeeping team to be so supportive to both mum and the family. We were all made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home in its beautiful surrounding.
