View Full Details of The Cotswold HomeHaving damaged my right elbow, I spent 12 days in respite (my fourth respite in The Cotswold Home). A huge welcome from all the staff! As always, meticulous care and attention gave me the care I needed at that time. A very happy and comfortable stay. Staff really worked as a team. A home from home.
All the staff are always very helpful and friendly. There is a lovely warm atmosphere within the home. The activities are varied to cater for all tastes, the music activities are particularly enjoyed.
Very impressed with the site, accommodation and service from all personnel. Attention to detail from the care staff was exceptional, and I feel very comfortable leaving my 93-year-old mum in their care. I would recommend The Cotswold Home highly.
I have been very well looked after during my stay, as usual. I am always particularly impressed by how friendly and welcoming all the staff are throughout my stay.
Mum has had a great month at The Cotswold Home - she has been helping plant flowers in the various recycled objects for the 'potted perfection' display, including handbags and wellington boots! She really enjoyed this and the display is amazing! The home also has a partridge and some chicks who have taken up residence in the garden so that has been lovely to see. Mum really enjoys living at the home and the staff are so kind and helpful - it was a big wrench to leave her home but she couldn't be in a better place.
My husband had a wonderful respite week. He enjoyed all aspects of the home. Comfortable, very friendly staff. Clean and tidy bedroom as the rest of the home was and pretty gardens easy to access in a wheelchair. Spent some time in the craft room. Completed a picture for the grandchildren. Most days he enjoyed three courses of lovely food from the extremely tasty menu. All fresh meat, vegetables and fruit all prepared and cooked on-site. Absolutely worth it.
My first contact with the home was with the general manager, who managed to find accommodation - at very short notice - for my mother who is 93 and recovering from heart surgery. She was kind, helpful and professional, and it was a huge relief to have my mother settled in such a nice environment. The other staff that I have encountered have been friendly and welcoming. My mother is happily settled after a very traumatic 3 weeks, appreciates the beautiful gardens, the peaceful and settled atmosphere, and the kindness and care from the staff. I am confident that she will recover well in such surroundings - thank you all.
Elizabeth Finn/The Cotswold Home have been fantastic - my 83-year-old father was critically ill and fought through in an NHS hospital. We reached a position where he was medically well enough but needed intense care and rehabilitation. EF were able to take him rapidly and start his ongoing recovery and strength-building. He has made huge progress with physio, great care and very pleasant kind staff - and both my parents enjoy lunch together each day. Settled in fast and certainly both my parents are enjoying the rest - the flexibility offered to extend is also great. Think we will be here a little longer and Dad has indicated he would be happy to come back when my mother needs an operation later this year. Thank you all.
As the first time of staying in a care home for four days, I found the staff were excellent. The premises were always clean with food very well provided.
Excellent, friendly home. Helpful person at reception and unit manager of staff and all the many helpers were very friendly. Visitors were welcome, including dogs, and dogs were allowed to stay with residents. Everyone was called by their first name. A hairdresser came once a week. Entertainment was excellent, with different activities, such as quizzes or cooking. Very good meals were served and we could choose what we wanted to eat from a menu the day before. Many different options. We could sit with others in the dining room or stay in our bedrooms. Vegetables offered with main course and coffee afterwards.
I really like The Cotswold Home - there is plenty of space to walk around and it is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The other residents are very friendly and I enjoy mixing with people and joining in the activities and games. The staff are very helpful and caring. The food is very good apart from when they have mushrooms and shellfish!
Mum lived at The Cotswold Home for the last four years of her long life. She was always well looked-after by kind and attentive staff, particularly in her final days. When she chose to remain in her room as her mobility became limited, there were always callers to make sure she had everything she needed. The Cotswold Home is an attractive building in a lovely country setting with sheltered gardens, a good quality dining room, bar area, library and various lounges. The staff arrange a wide-ranging programme of activities and events and there always seems to be something going on for residents. There are hairdressing facilities, a studio for arts and crafts, television lounges and everything to make residents' lives comfortable. Fresh flowers adorn the corridors, and the building has a light and airy feel. Residents' rooms are spacious with en-suite facilities. The catering staff provide a choice of meals three times a day, and there are always hot drinks, fruit and snacks available.
It was lovely to see Dad interact with people again after being alone after the loss of my mum. He enjoyed the harpist, and just to see him sitting with other people, his foot tapping, obviously enjoying the experience was wonderful. He told me all about the fireworks evening, which had lifted his spirits and given him something to chat about. Although he was only there for a week's respite, we have booked him in again for another short break.
My week was an experience as expected. What I didn't know was just how small and hard the bed was, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. This was my reason for not wishing to take up a permanent residency.
When my wife and I go away on holiday, my father moves from our house into Elizabeth Finn at Burford. He is always welcomed and made to feel at home. The rooms are comfortable and the food is always of a very high standard with a good choice of menu. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and all my father's needs are met with kindness and a smile from the staff. We always go away knowing we have left him in good hands.
During the six years my mother lived at The Cotswold Home, she was treated with dignity, respect, and a level of personal attention and nursing for which I will always be grateful. The continuity of key staff, the calm and cheerful atmosphere, the dining facilities, and the welcome given to guests and relatives of residents were all notable. Initially reluctant to leave her own house, my mother was quickly won over by the friendliness of the staff, great physiotherapy, lunch everyday with other interesting residents, and the ability to ask for hot chocolate whenever she wished! She stopped being lonely and found a peace that had eluded her when struggling on her own. In her final two years, as my mother became increasingly frail, the nursing was meticulous and deeply caring through difficult times. And, when it came, the end of life care was exceptional in its humanity and level of attention. My mother was surrounded by affection at the Home and she was fond of many staff members.
My mother came to the home first for respite care but found the support so good that she stayed for years, gradually needing higher levels of care and support. Throughout the staff were exceptional, showing real care for the person. We ended up feeling that the home was a sort of extension to the family - perhaps especially given we all had to live through the pandemic. Having visited some other homes, I would say that the levels of care are unusually high, both in terms of the patience of the staff - and also the staffing levels and availability. The care home was recommended to us by someone who had two long-term resident parents and I would also strongly recommend it to anyone needing a warm and caring environment.
I found the Cotswold Care Home to be exceptional in all regards, kind sensitive and caring staff, a wonderful calm and nicely designed environment around a lovely courtyard, lovely food and generally well cared for and calm residents who seem very content there. My father suffered a stroke and needed respite and assessment on his discharge from 4 weeks in hospital and the Cotswold Care Home proved to be the perfect environment where he has been very happy and seems to be making a very good recovery. Highly Recommended.
My husband has terminal brain cancer which is causing significant disabilities these are physical and he is fully lucid. I am his wife and main carer and was delighted to find such a brilliant caring and safe home which we are now using for monthly respite for three nights at a time. The staff all make eye contact, treat everyone with respect and dignity and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. The atmosphere is inclusive and welcoming. The respite is giving me a break whilst knowing my husband is well looked after.
I came here on respite to attend a meeting on a very strong recommendation. I was greeted and immediately joined such friendly and caring staff. This stay coincided with the 75th BBQ celebration which was really enjoyable. The group on the roof with the 40s song was great. Made friends very quickly. My leg treatment was done morning and night.
