View Full Details of The Headington Care HomeFrom time to time, my wife and I call in to visit on of your residents. Prior to moving into The Headington Care home, he lived on the same estate as we do. We have known our friend for over ten years and been alongside him in many situations. The care home has transformed his life at so many levels; with his thoughts and in his outlook on life. He has been supported in so many levels by the staff.
I was very impressed with the new female physio. She engaged with all the residents by having name badges, walking around the room, speaking to individuals before getting them to join in. She also sang to them at the end and got some of them to salute. A great improvement on the previous male physion who only sat on a chair for the whole session.
For my elderly mother with mobility issues, The Headington Care Home provides her with a generally friendly service but with lots of structure. Mum is well looked after in terms of her medication and visits by the GP. Headington Care Home has a friendly aura that stems from the manager. The care home always maintains contact with me in case of emergency. The lounge is spacious, the rooms are clean and always looked after. Overall Mum is happy and at peace there.
Dad always seems well cared for and clean. Staff are always quick to see to his needs. He can be difficult at times and staff are aware of how to help him when needed.
My mum lived in the care home for just over two years and the staff were great, she was bed-bound but very well cared for and took the worry away from us as much as they could. Mum passed away in June and all staff were amazing during those last few days of her life, I cannot thank Headington Care Home and the staff enough for what they did for Mum and the family.
My mum moved here early this year. She immediately seems calmer and more happy and looked after than any other time. Thanks to the staff and management.
I feel very welcome at this care home, and my husband is well looked after and I know he is safe.
My mother passed away in November after being in the care home for ten years. I wanted to thank everyone, again, for all they have done for my mum and for the care and dignity given to her in her last days. The staff kept me informed of her condition in her last few days and this allowed me to travel to be with her at the end. In all the years that my mum was there, I can't say enough about everyone working there, they all work very hard to do the best they can and make sure that the residents are taken care of, I would recommend this care home to anyone.
Staff - very good and caring. Food - very good - vegetarian option for me. Care - good - walk me daily in my frame for rehab. Room - good - hearer needs attention, notified. Activities - exercise class good, good music. Medical - good meds and visits to podiatry/dentist arranged. Physio - paid by me - very good.
Generally I am quite happy with the help and care I have received here. So I am content to spend my remaining life here!
My Dad went into Headington care home to give my Mum a break as she was poorly. My Dad was in there for 3 weeks. We knew he would struggle being away from my Mum, his wife but the care he received was disgusting! When he went in the home he was walking, eating and going to the bathroom with support! He didn’t want to eat but every time my Mum went they said he wasn’t drinking, like it was my mum’s problem. My Mum always got him to drink by giving the drink to him. He had very poor eyesight so needed to be given a drink. My Mum went every day and he was often on the bed in just a T-shirt and nappy or someone else’s clothing, and on two occasions he was just laying on a rubber mat with no sheet! My Mum was told the Doctor would check on him! Last Friday morning my Mum got a phone call to say they had called an ambulance as his blood pressure was low. When he got to the hospital they said he was seriously dehydrated and his kidneys were falling. He died 2 days later we are heartbroken.
My husband was in Headington Care Home for nine years and was very well looked after. The care home was kept spotlessly clean but I was always disgusted with the quality of the bed linen considering the cost of the care.
My mum has been a resident here since March, and I am as pleased with her life here as I was when she had just arrived. I feel it is very beneficial to her and gives her a very comfortable way of living. There was an issue with one member of the care team that concerned me, so I spoke about it to the deputy manager, who dealt with it appropriately and very satisfactorily, and I felt very confident of the resolution.
The care provided is superb. Each resident is treated with great respect at all times. The staff are taking exceptional steps to befriend and help even the most challenging residents. As a regular visitor I was always made to feel welcome which was greatly appreciated. Every effort was made to maintain a calm atmosphere and also a clean environment. Thank you.
The staff were helpful and good-natured. I was always greeted with a friendly smile. The allocated room was always clean and tidy. We were allowed privacy with a polite knock on the door if staff needed entry. The nurses/carers were lovely and caring.
I find this care home a lovely environment for my mum to be living in. The atmosphere and care have certainly improved her life enormously, she seems very contented living here. The kindness and understanding of all of the staff give her a great deal of peace in her life. Mum's surroundings are ideal for her and so much thought by the staff is put into making her life enjoyable.
Generally, The Headington Care Home is an excellent home. All the staff are very kind, caring, welcoming and supportive and treat people with dignity. They are always smiling and stress-free. The home has a happy and supportive team. The food is very good. The rooms and day rooms are excellently cleaned and decorated to make residents feel homely. The whole environment is nice and conducive.
Mum immediately settled after a traumatic few weeks in hospital. She was cared for beautifully.
My husband has been a resident at The Headington Care Home for about 3-4 months. The manager, carers, nurses and cleaners are all very friendly and welcoming whenever we go to visit my husband, I must also mention the laundry lady who keeps his clothes up to date. The staff and manager always keep me informed on his ongoing care and when I leave at the end of a visit I am happy in the knowledge he is being well cared for. Although my husband can have bad days where he gets quite difficult and verbally angry and doesn't want to comply with personal care or medication, the staff deal with him with patience, calmness and kindness and carry this out in a dignified manner. They help him with his feeding and often pop their head around the door just to check on him. The manager runs the home in a very efficient manner, she is always friendly and approachable and so are all her staff. They all work very hard to provide the best care they can for your loved one.
My wife was at The Headington care home for only 41 days. She passed away on 9th August 2022 and during that short time, she received the best care possible. The management, carers and nurses treated her with the utmost compassion and care and respected her dignity. If, when the time comes I have any say, my first choice will be the Headington Care Home.
