View Full Details of Huntercombe Hall Care HomeVery happy with everything that Huntercombe Hall do for my mum. All very good at what they do and the care they receive.
It wasn't a hard decision choosing Huntercombe Hall for my Nan, as soon as we walked in everything felt right. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff are all so friendly and so very caring. Nanny settled very quickly and has made some lovely friends. She is enjoying the activities especially colouring, and has even started knitting again.
Lovely home, the residents are really well looked after. The House keeping is up to scratch, clean and tidy! Management and staff are very friendly and helpful. Activity's offer a great service of fun and happy games including exercise.
Lovely care home. Staff are very caring to residents and myself. My mum has late stage dementia, so her needs are great. I feel that she is looked after like one of the family. Staff tell me about problems she has, so I feel informed. My father recently died and they have been so kind to me and I really appreciate their support.
My uncle has been staying in this care home and the staff and management are very helpful with everything. Any concerns we have had have been dealt with straight away. I would just like to thank you all for the great work you all do.
The staff are nice, friendly, patient, professional and encouraging. Residents are well looked after in comfortable clean and cosy accommodation and visitors are warmly welcomed. One of the staff deserves a special mention for always going above and beyond the call of duty, we are so grateful for her huge kindness.
My dad spent 3 weeks in Huntercombe as emergency respite care, and it was the most awful experience ever. The home looks very grand from the outside and the website, but in reality, the second floor where dementia patients are is old and tired looking. There is a high usage of agency staff and often no member of senior management on-site at the weekend. Dad had his first fall within days of arriving, although not hurt badly, it was not disclosed initially. Dad got a urine infection and oral thrush whilst there, he lost 8kg in weight, and the ability to talk, feed himself or walk until he was hospitalised - please note, at the family's request not by Huntercombe staff/management. After 1 week in hospital on an IV drip and feeding tube, he made a full recovery back to how he was before his respite care. It was not just his dementia decline as we were told. Read into this what you wish, but we will always regret Dad going into Huntercombe Hall.
I would like to say this is a very good care facility. The staff are friendly and helpful. The staff made my sister's birthday special in the garden with all the family, all they do is much appreciated. Thank you.
We looked at many homes before Huntercombe. We chose this one because it felt nice. No regrets, nearly two years in. The staff are unfailingly lovely which is the only thing that really matters. It is clean, the food is lovely and loads of activities. But it is the staff that make it so perfect.
I have nothing but praise for the staff of Huntercombe Hall. The carers are compassionate and friendly and furnish me with photos and updates on my sister's care, essential as I live abroad and could feel isolated. They go above and beyond to make her life as interesting and normal as possible and, if the resident is able, outings are organised for birthdays and when the weather is sunny. Thank you all so much for giving me peace of mind!
My father was a resident at Huntercombe for about 5 years following diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. Overall his treatment was excellent, although there were some periods when we needed to monitor his care closely. The Huntercombe staff were consistently excellent, and particularly so during the Covid pandemic when they had to juggle extremely trying conditions and restrictions. Their care for my father in his final weeks was beyond excellent. I am grateful that his end-of-life care was so professional and empathetic.
Dad seemed quite happy in the home. He was well looked after and clean. The whole team in general was very pleasant. When the home made all the changes it was a much lovelier place to visit. Christmas was very nice for the residents and families. Thank you all.
The facilities play an important part in it being their home and they can relax appropriate to their health needs but it’s driven by the team employed and that’s what has stood out to us as a family since Mum arrived mid-December. Everyone cares and we are pleased with the decision to choose this location.
The care staff at Huntercombe really do care and looked after my dad really well, accepting his personality which could at times be challenging due to his Dementia. They did particularly well with the Covid 19 outbreak, limiting exposure, keeping me informed of any changes to process for visits and keeping the home clear of the virus as much as possible, which was not an easy task given the number of staff and shift patterns exposing staff, I commended them at the time and would do so here again, care of residents was and is always paramount. The management team always kept me well informed. My only criticism's would be, the heating system was always on even through the hottest summer on record due to a fault which I raised with the care home manager and in my opinion took far to long to fix. Invoices for additional charges were hit and miss, due to head office admin/accounts not on top of things causing an overdue amount going back over a 12 month period, which took some sorting out.
I am very happy with the care my mother receives, staff are very helpful and supportive, food always looks lovely and they are always willing to accommodate something you may want, it feels very homely and has a warm atmosphere.
Whenever I visit, I am always made to feel very welcome, and my mother always seems well looked after, with lots going on to keep her occupied. The renovation work has made a great difference to the care home - just a shame the bedrooms didn’t get done. The only reason I have not given the management a five is because I don’t know who they are.
Huntercombe Hall Care Home provided excellent care for my mother and father for over two years. They provided excellent nursing care and communicated well with my brother and I at all times. The carers were also great and were always compassionate at supportive and were very supportive of my father when our mother passed away. Although our parents weren't very keen on socialising with others - they did benefit from the beautiful garden and enjoyed sitting out in summer. Thanks again for all the great care and support. (Daughter of resident)
The care was generally very good. The staff work hard and are very patient. The manager was very helpful and considerate. The home could do with a redecoration which I believe is planned. It can be a job to get through using the telephone - generally ends up on answer phone, but they always contact you if your relative isn't well or had a fall etc. Found the finance side rather slow and inefficient. Overall we would recommend Huntercombe Care Home and its staff and nursing care.
Huntercombe Hall Care Home has a warm and feel-like home atmosphere. We had a terrible experience in other care settings and couldn’t be more happy with the care and compassion shown to us all so far. The staff is friendly and widely available every time we approach them, we met the management team and the majority of our worries were dismissed with knowledgeable and sensible information. We were allowed to watch the routine of the home and be involved in activities where residents were stimulated and with happy expressions. We could finally sleep peacefully. Thank you so much to everyone involved in the care, you are amazing.
My aunt is so well cared for by the lovely team at Huntercombe Hall Care Home. She enjoys the activities and I am always touched by how well the staff know her and the respect they show to her and us. I know that she is in good hands and am so pleased that we are able to visit her whenever we are back in the Oxfordshire area.
