View Full Details of Wantage Residential and Nursing HomeThe care home my mother is a resident in is excellent, the management and staff are very professional and nothing is too much trouble for them to make my mother's stay there a happy one. I know my mother is getting the best care, and I know she is very happy there. It is very pleasing to know that she is in safe hands and we as a family are delighted that she has settled in her new surroundings.
My mum came to stay for two weeks when we went away for our annual holiday. The staff in the sanctuary in Wantage are all lovely. Very professional and caring. My mum enjoyed her stay, particularly the food which she said was outstanding. I'm hoping she can continue coming to the sanctuary for care in the future when we go away. It gave me huge relief to know she was safe and cared for and I was able to relax on my holiday.
Wantage Nursing Home is an absolutely wonderful place with friendly, caring and compassionate staff who treat their patients with dignity and respect. It is warm and welcoming, tastefully decorated and is truly a home from home. There is a great deal of social interaction - fun, laughter, games and music. It is a very happy environment. The food is also delicious!
This home has a good atmosphere with great facilities and a clean and spacious feeling. All of the staff are pleasant and engaging. Many of them I think they are outstanding - so cheerful. The manager is also extremely effective and knows all of the residents well.
All staff care for residents in a compassionate and professional way. I am always kept informed of any changes to my parent, and any problems are quickly dealt with. I would recommend Wantage Residential and Nursing Home for the quality of care and the very friendly environment.
My mother-in-law has lived in a flat attached to our home for 21 years but due to declining health, she was unable to stay alone without support, so for the first time we agreed on respite care. We chose Wantage because of the reviews and on visiting we were all made to feel extremely welcome. All three of us were anxious but that soon went. My mother-in-law loved her stay, she was happy and relaxed and she found the staff extremely friendly, kind, helpful and respectful. She loved the activities and trips out and the food was excellent. My mother-in-law says she would happily go back. We are overjoyed, they have an excellent team, amazing staff, and brilliant.
The staff are very friendly. The evening meal needs working on, different variety, more choice of meals, lunch and evening meals. It has taken a lot of travel stress for my family to see me.
My mother moved into Wantage Nursing Home with just a few hours notice to the management team and after a 4-hour journey, she was received the warmest welcome from the Manager, Deputy Manager and nurse. The care she had continued to receive has been exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. All caregivers are so kind, respectful, gentle, supportive and fun - there is always laughter and banter. Meals are beautifully cooked and presented. All residents received Easter eggs and joined together for a delicious lunch. Care is taken to ensure everyone is fed and no one is forgotten. Residents can join in activities or can have peace in their rooms. Mum’s room overlooks the well-tended garden. We look forward to visiting and leaving knowing Mum is in the best place. Well done to all the team. This is a real home from home.
My grandmother has been a resident for about a month now and we have been so impressed with the care she has received. It was a really difficult transition moving her from her home of 55 years into a care home but the staff made it feel so much easier and they made us and my nan feel so welcomed. All the staff are so caring and helpful, in particular the manager. We are so glad we chose this home for our loved one.
My mother-in-law has been a resident in Sanctuary Care, Wantage Residential and Nursing Home for nearly four years. Over that time, her care needs have changed hugely but at all stages, the care home staff and facilities have been adjusted to suit her. The staff value her for who she is and understands her quirks, likes and dislikes and accommodates them with respect and care.
My mother was only in the home for ten days. Both my mother and the family were treated with respect, kindness and professional care by all the staff. We always received a warm welcome and helped to cope with how mum was at the end of life. I can only offer my sincere gratitude. Thank you so much.
My parents came to the care home in March 2023 where there was a warm welcome, the staff have been very friendly and polite to me and my parents. The care that they have and are receiving is excellent the staff always keep me up to date with their care needs. The food is wholesome and the staff always try to cater for their dietary preferences. They have a great activities team who try to entertain everyone with quizzes, ball games, pat pet and many more. I know my parents are very happy here and they feel safe and are getting the proper care for all their needs.
It is a very nice home, the staff are all very nice, made me feel welcome. Good clean rooms. Staff very helpful. They don't moan at whatever they have to do, I know I could not do some of the jobs they have to do. My sister is happy there and I feel happy that she is being looked after so well.
My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimers three years ago but became a resident only fourteen months ago following a paralysing stroke. For the first seven months I visited her twice per day to provide some continuity and to help with feeding so I now know very well how the carers operate and some of the challenges they face. At all times she has been clean and safe. It is a shame that my review must not contain names, because there are several carers who deserve to have their names emblazoned in lights for all to see. I cannot praise them too highly. I now visit only once per day as the care staff are far more efficient than I am at assisting my wife to feed. I am particularly impressed with the dignity with which the residents are treated. In my wife's case I don't know much she can understand, but I have seen how she is none-the-less included in the activities in the communal areas. The nursing staff communicate well, explaining how her occasional problems are being treated.
Mum was taken into Wantage care home after a stint at Abingdon hospital. She was very poorly and needed constant care. The staff were fantastic with her, encouraging her to eat and tending to her so she was always clean and maintained her dignity. We were always made welcome when we visited and were treated with as much kindness as Mum. Sadly Mum passed away in early March and the staff at the home were so very helpful and supportive. It meant a lot to us to know that Mum was safe and well-tended right to the end. If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, then, from our experience, Wantage is one of the better ones.
This is a very caring care home. It's a pity it is short-staffed and often any 'extra' staff do not know what to do, particularly in the dining room e.g. knives and forks in the wrong place. reaching across the table to serve meals. I am very happy and any 'real' complaints are soon dealt with. I very much appreciate the doctor's weekly call.
My mum has been a resident in Wantage for nearly four years and has always been treated with car and respect. She has a lovely room and her own ensuite bathroom, and the staff make sure she has regular showers/baths. The activities are regular and mum enjoys joining in with things when her abilities allow. I always feel my mum is in safe hands and the staff are extremely careful over safety and security.
I had to arrange some quick respite care for my Mum and contacted the Wantage home, they were really helpful and allowed myself and my Mum to come and visit the same day to see if they were able to take her for a weeks respite care, plus it was important that my Mum would be happy there. The team were amazing, and it didn't make a difference which member of them you spoke to they were really positive and happy and a pleasure to be there with them. There were things to do each day so she had a choice to get involved or not. The food was excellent and as my Mum has been a vegetarian for 80 plus years this was important to her, I can say I haven't heard her sing praises about the quality of food before. Well done. So a massive thank you to all the team, from the carers to the Managers they were all brilliant, thank you so much.
Seems like a good care home where my dad is looked after.
My father has been a resident at Wantage Residential and Nursing Home since September 2022. He has settled in well with the help of caring staff and associated medical people. He loves the food and looks forward to meal times. We visited him from Australia in October and were very pleased with his room, dining, recreation areas and the careful attention of the staff. We are happy that he is being well looked after and appreciate the staff keeping in touch with us on the other side of the world!
