View Full Details of Ashton LodgeMy sister has been in the care home for the past 2 years. She is being looked after well and the care she is getting is excellent. All the staff are very good and they contact me whenever necessary and update the situation.
It is a worrying, stressful time searching for a home for a family member. We were struck by the commitment from the manager and her team to make Ashton Lodge a real home. This desire and ambition from the top permeates the building. The atmosphere is always calm despite the challenging behaviour of some of the residents. The staff are warm, patient and kind, addressing all by their first names. Ashton Lodge is a welcoming, and enthusiastic place. The manager is readily available and her office door is open. My brother tells me he is happy with everything and gives every impression of being so. His wishes are always respected. The food menu is imaginative and well-cooked. It is served and cleared in a positive, jolly manner. It is obvious that the residents enjoy their mealtimes, sitting around small tables. The staff have made a real effort to create a cafe-like space. The medical care has been first rate and the family are emailed promptly should there be anything to report.
It was an outstanding service no two words about it! 1st impression, meeting the management was unexplainable to share in words. Very approachable, understanding, full of empathy, great attitude. You don't find it in many places where people want to help and go that extra mile, is my experience. They supported us immensely in the most crucial time of our need to house my sister during a short emergency visit overseas. Also to mention the welcoming staff were professional and the whole 2 weeks experience was peaceful and we had peace of mind while we were away. The entire staff was very caring, warm and amazing people in person and on the phone. I never saw anybody stressed but beautiful smiles on their faces. Very inviting and great attitude among all. After all the most important thing was my sister being happy there.
Mum settled in lovely to the home in January. The staff and care have been superb and mum is really happy. The facilities are good too. The place is really welcoming and everyone is so friendly. The food is fab and the activities are good for my mum who can be a bit challenging at times. I looked at a few homes but this one was by far the best and hasn't let us down. I was always so anxious about Mum's care in the past as it wasn't great, however this home I know I can trust them to look after her well. I have been able to go away for a week, knowing she was in good hands. Well done to the team there. It's a lovely place to live and to go and visit your loved ones.
Ashton Lodge staff overall were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help! We were lucky enough to get recommended this care home for my grandad, where he enjoyed the company of staff, who made him smile and laugh everyday. It's not a 5 star hotel but it is homely with good day trips out and fun activities daily. Generally food was always delicious and varied! We were always contacted and felt listened to. Thank you for your loving care.
My father has been a resident at Ashton Lodge since March 2024. I speak on behalf of myself and the entire family when we say that we are extremely happy with the care our father has received during his time. Although he can be difficult sometimes, they treat him with respect and have so much patience. All of the staff are always very happy and take time to have a chat about my father and how he has been if we are not able to visit him as often as we would like. The food is always hot and varied, from breakfast to supper time. I visited my father at a time when there was a singer entertaining the residents, she was brilliant and very engaging with everyone. We are always kept updated by all of the staff, from receiving a phone call or by passing one of the nursing team, with any issues that may of arisen. We cannot fault the care our father is receiving and it is very comforting to know that when we are not able to visit, we know he is receiving the best possible care and attention.
The staff have helped my mother settle in quite quickly only being moved here in March 2024. The staff are very friendly and professional as they go about their business. The rooms are bright and airy with good facilities. Food and activities are of a good quality and standard. I wouldn't have any issues recommending Ashton Lodge to other people looking for a care home for family members.
For me this home, I would always give 10 out of 10! My words are not enough to express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all the staff that work there, the management, the carers, nurses, cleaners, do such a fantastic job, in the 7 years that I have been visiting my mum, I've always been received with a warm welcome by the receptionist, and the staff are always on hand to help my mother and me throughout my visit with her, thank you so much to all at Ashton Lodge.
We visit my father frequently at Ashton Lodge and every time we are greeted warmly by staff. I appreciate that it's not set within acres of greenery and it may not look modern from the outside, but that is not as important as the service provided by the care team which has been great. The staff look after all my father's needs and he has a good relationship with several team members. The professionalism of Ashton Lodge's care team has shown me that it's imperative for those dealing with dementia patients, to have knowledge of the condition including how to react when there's a dementia-induced flare-up. It's unfortunate, despite dementia being in the headlines, most people just don't understand this devastating illness nor how to interact with dementia patients. Patience and sincere knowledge-based care is what patients need - holding their hands through this immensely challenging time. Keep up the good work Ashton Lodge!
The care home managers and staff are exceptional. They work with some of the most challenging patients and continue to perform their roles with a smile on their faces and a positive attitude. They always make extra efforts to make a connection with my father, the patient with dementia, and with the family when we visit weekly. I cannot recommend the staff more highly and a big thank you to the manager and one member of staff in particular and all the team for making such a challenging condition so much smoother and their team members give us invaluable peace of mind. My father really enjoys the communal approach, the activities and being with other patients like him, I am so grateful for all the efforts and for even taking the time to understand the sometimes-challenging family dynamics which can come when you have a family member with dementia, something only dementia carers understand.
We chose Ashton Lodge after meeting the care home manager and we knew it was the care home for Mum. My Mum has dementia and since moving into Ashton Lodge she has been so well looked after. There is always a friendly and familiar face welcoming us as visitors or interacting with Mum.
Since being moved to Ashton Lodge during Covid the home team has offered excellent care and is kind, patient and understanding towards our mum. Whilst the drive and entrance to the home may not have the best kerb appeal the home team more than make up for this with their attitude towards every resident being treated as a person with their own individual needs. The team works hard to make sure the home is well maintained and always well presented and each member of the team makes sure they know each resident so there is always a friendly smile and word or two for anyone that needs it. Whilst we may not have been able to choose the home due to circumstances when it was needed, we feel very lucky that Mum is cared for so well.
When I was informed that my husband was being accepted at Ashton Lodge I was a little worried as I hadn't visited it and on first impressions, I was a bit of oh my what has he been sent to, after visiting Ashton Lodge I can only say that the staff from when you walk into the building and everyone who works there are everything you can ask for, they are helpful, caring and all-round lovely people. All my husband's family and friends who have since visited say they are happy with the nursing care he receives on a daily basis.
My husband was transferred to Ashton Lodge 3 months ago. He suffers from delusional dementia and various other conditions that affect his life. Since moving to Ahston Lodge he has become less distressed and agitated. The nursing staff are kind and caring with him. This is something he responds to well. They ensure he has a comfortable, warm room and bed. Plus he is given his food and tablets regularly. He is encouraged to interact with other residents. My family are very happy that he is at Ashton Lodge.
It might not look pretty from the outside but don't judge by appearances: I've been extremely happy with the care, cleanliness and efficiency of Ashton Lodge. Our mum has frontotemporal dementia and requires one-to-one care, and whenever I visit the carer is there by her side. Mum's condition is challenging: she has greatly reduced mobility and speech, rips up her clothes, can lash out and be extremely rude, and is double incontinent. All are handled with care and respect by the staff, and the medication prescribed by the GP is administered on time and effectively. There was no complaint from the home when Mum ripped up her mattress - it was simply replaced. New flooring went in recently, the food seems good, and the home doesn't smell unpleasant, as I've found in previous homes (Mum was moved around a bit before she settled at Ashton). The manager is friendly and always available if we need to discuss anything; importantly she takes swift action if there are any special needs.
Without hesitation, I can quite honestly say that my father has been shown great dignity and respect while at Ashton Lodge and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
On my last visit to my brother, I was pleased to see him very well-dressed and comfortable in the lovely, spacious lounge. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, working as a team creating a happy, relaxed atmosphere. They thoughtfully allowed us some quality time with him in a side room and brought him back for lunch. The menu looked amazing and the dinner trolley arrived with a smiling chef, in his chef whites and hat, serving the food he had prepared. So nice! We left them to enjoy it. We did not see any signs of activities that day but we walked outside around the spacious garden with its trees and tables which would be lovely, for those who can, to enjoy. My brother is in a lovely home with staff who care. Some of the ratings I have left blank as they at not applicable to me.
My mother arrived in Ashton Lodge from the hospital last September. She had previously been in another care home but we were not impressed with the care and attention she received there.
Ashton Lodge is a welcoming home with a team of hardworking, well-intentioned and dedicated staff. The house and gardens are well-maintained and secure. Standard of meals is exceptional. For new residents it would be helpful to have been furnished with a few house rules including timings of the day, reception hours, service standards (including response times), fees and charges, staff board with names and roles, who and how to contact with queries or issues. It's a shame the staff rota/coverage doesn't allow for outside supervision in the summer months/fair weather, as I had to bring my step mum inside at the end of visiting.
Since my mum was admitted to Ashton Lodge, we have experienced such wonderful care, treatment and love, particularly for my mum, who is 101 years of age, and the respect and kindness expressed to my family are amazing. The carers and nurses are so good with all the patients, and nothing is too much when it comes to caring for all of the patients at Ashton Lodge at Sunbury on the Thames. We are so grateful that Mum is cared for so well and happy. Entertainment is wonderful and keeps patients happy all the time. Many, many thanks once again.
