She has engaged well with the other residents and also enjoys the various range of activities laid on by the staff. We, as a family, try to support as many of the events as we can and we are always made to feel very welcome.
My sister-in-law has been in Buxton Lodge Care Home just a few weeks. She has learning difficulties and limited communication but she has settled in well. The staff are very kind, caring and supportive and it is a comfort to know she is being well looked after. Most importantly, in herself, she seems happier and more comfortable.
I just want to say how impressed we were with the team at Buxton Lodge Care Home in Caterham. My mum was a resident whilst recovering from a fall with a dislocated and fractured shoulder. The team were amazing and was just so reassured when I visited and Mum was really well looked after. They looked after her as though she was a family member and I recommend them. We had great communication which was just so reassuring.
My mum has been receiving excellent help and care from all the staff in Buxton Lodge Care Home. You are always made to feel welcome as a visitor and there are no restrictions on visiting times. The activities are varied and are helping with Mum's recovery and encourage interaction between residents and staff. Photos and information on activities can be viewed on the notice board. Her room is spacious with views of the garden and the lounge/shared areas are bright and clean.
Warm welcome when I visted the home. Clean and tidy. Overall good appearance. My relative confirmed she is treated with kindness and compassion.
Care homes are (apart from the residency) all about the quality of the staff. The staff caring for my friend were exceptional and the improvement in my friend's well-being I can only assume is due to their excellent interaction with him. Great job and so pleased.
The rooms were very nice and well kept though most on the small side is the residents wished to have their own furniture, there wasn't really enough room. The staff were very attentive and caring at all times. The food was mostly excellent but for a few days not so good when supplies seemed to be a problem but I picked up again. The activities were very good and the staff tried very hard. Overall happy with the home.
My mother who has dementia and mobility issues has settled in well. It is a clean and safe environment. Staff are always pleasant and listen to any concerns. The manager is very approachable and deals very quickly with medical issues.
Buxton Lodge Care Home is a lovely care home, so warm and friendly. The staff are so caring and kind and work so very hard to meet the needs of all the residents. When visiting, it is so comforting when we have to leave to know our loved ones are looked after so well. It takes a special person to do this job and Buxton's staff are wonderful. Thank you so much for all you do.
Mum has been at Buxton Lodge Care Home for nearly five months, the staff are lovely and very caring and always treat Mum with respect. The manager is always available to answer questions and will always take any concerns seriously, and acts upon them immediately. Mum says she is happy there, and her eyes light up when any of the staff come into her room, and they are very nice to her. The food is of good quality, and Mum clears her plate at every meal. I would recommend Buxton Lodge to anyone who needs care/nursing for a relative as I trust them to look after her, and I know she is happy there.
This place is despicable in how they recently handled the recent passing of my father-in-law, zero compassion or empathy apart from about 5 of the carers, one carer in particular would shout at the residents and talk down to them when they are clearly distressed and confused from their illnesses. They completely messed up our requests for certain items to go with my father-in-law to the cremation company, who I must say were amazing and so helpful. When we spoke to the manager after the event she said about why the things weren’t sent to the cremation company “that these things don’t go according to plan sometimes” and blamed the cremation company that the items weren’t allowed to go with my father-in-law but when calling the cremation company this was a complete lie. While I was there I also saw staff playing on their phones, sleeping or just watching TV and not caring about the residents nearby who needed to be cared for. The manager is just damn right rude and doesn’t care about her job.
The care home itself is clean and tidy, the issue is with the management and a lot of the staff. Just a few words to describe them, rude, unprofessional, not very competent, no empathy, not caring, lazy.
As an advanced dementia sufferer, my wife eventually needed full-time care and I inspected a number of care homes in the district with a view to her becoming a resident. Buxton Lodge Care Home came high on the list of options and became the final choice. During my wife's residence, I made frequent visits to see her and always found that my expectations of Buxton Lodge were fulfilled. The staff and managers appeared capable, responsible and genuinely caring towards patients, almost as if the patients were members of their own families and I found staff to be pleasant, cooperative and easy to deal with. I was particularly gratified by the sensitive manner in which my wife's eventual death was dealt with. Overall, I formed a high opinion of Buxton Lodge Care Home and would be happy to stay there myself if it ever became necessary.
My mother has now been in Buxton Lodge for six months and is very happy there. I have been touched to see how kind, friendly and caring the staff are (even when extremely busy), and they always take time to chat with her. In particular, I have been impressed with the manager as whenever I have raised a query or concern, she has responded in a very timely way and helped resolve the matter. This helps give me peace of mind, knowing that my mother is being looked after so well. My siblings and I are extremely grateful to everyone there.
When Dad moved to Buxton Lodge Care Home he received the very best of care. The staff treated him with great kindness, patience and good humour, yet always respected his dignity. He was content and comfortable and had a good quality of life until his peaceful end. The home had a good atmosphere and the staff were always polite, friendly and approachable. Thank you all.
In my visits to Buxton Lodge Care Home I’ve come across some very lovely and caring members of staff who treat my gran with kindness and respect. The communal areas and her bedroom are kept very clean and tidy and they also have a lovely garden. My gran is relaxed and content there. The team make sure to dress her nicely and make such an effort with her hair. They even paint her nails beautifully which is so lovely for me to see as she was always very glamorous when she was able to look after herself. They have been very accommodating with her dietary needs and she has drinks and food that she really enjoys all throughout the day. The staff make such an effort to provide a friendly, jovial atmosphere and they play a lot of music and encourage singing which my gran loves. It’s amazing to see her come back to herself when certain songs are playing. Thanks so much to the Buxton team for taking such lovely care of my gran.
We looked at several care homes for my aunt, and we knew that Buxton Lodge was the one the minute we walked in. There was such a warm welcome when we arrive. Buxton Lodge was bright and airy, clean, smelt clean and looked well maintained. The manager answered all our questions and gave good professional advice and support when moving her from the hospice to Buxton Lodge for end-of-life care. She has been so well cared for, and we have been well supported by the staff, and we have always been made to feel welcome. We definitely made the right choice in choosing Buxton Lodge. We can't thank them enough for helping us through a very difficult time and caring for her so well.
I find this care home very good. My husband looked well and relaxed when visiting him. The care staff are friendly and helpful. The place always looked clean and welcoming.
My wife of 48 years, moved to your care home six weeks ago from a hospice. She is receiving end-of-life care. The care has been excellent from staff, who are delightfully cheerful. I wish she could stay longer.
The management and staff are very attentive. They listen to our requests concerning my mum's individual needs and react accordingly. My mum is very happy with the care she is receiving and always comments on how nice the meals are. The manager responds to any email questions or requests very promptly, which is a very helpful extra communication line to have. The nurse is also available to discuss any particular issue whenever needed. All the staff are kind and friendly and have taken the time to get to know Mum - thank you all.
