View Full Details of Chestnut View Care HomeWonderful caring staff. So attentive and always there to answer questions or help. Very good activities for the residents.
Kind and caring. I am extremely grateful to the staff at Chestnut View who were both kind and caring. Their care made my mother's final months more bearable. She was treated with dignity, respect and compassion and we were welcomed at every visit.
I visited about a month ago and helped to feed my stepdaughter's Mother, I was amazed and delighted to see the liquid diet that she had. It was chicken, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots. It was piped on the plate and looked amazingly like a proper meal. I have been to many homes and seen the meals and this was the best I have ever seen.
On behalf of all of us, we cannot thank to the manager the staff and so many others for their care for our dad in the last few months of his life even taking the time at the end of their shifts on Dad's last day to say goodbye. He was treated with dignity, respect and compassion and as a family knowing he was cared for and genuinely looked after was a huge comfort at such a difficult time. We would not hesitate at all to recommend Chestnut View to anyone. Thank you.
A care home with a lot of heart. My elderly father was unsure about moving to the South after spending his life in a Northern Village. Staff and other residents have made him feel so welcomed that he instantly felt at home. Its great location is perfect for my Father who likes to get out for a walk, with local Green, Shops, an ice-cream milk bar, a cafe, and a friendly pub all on the doorstep. My Dad comments on how well he is cared for, the team makes him laugh and as he has memory issues he is always in the moment, they make that matter and he only ever has good things to say about them. Chestnut View has gone above and beyond to help him orientate in a different environment and provide him with a space where he feels at home, after a few weeks of respite care I'm confident he is settled and happy there.
My aunt was resident in Chestnut View Care Home for four years until her recent death. During that time, she received excellent care. The standards of the home were always excellent regarding care of the residents, cleanliness, housekeeping and catering. The carers were always attentive to her needs and ready with a cup of tea. As my aunt's next of kin, I was given regular updates on any changes in her state of health, changes in medication and her general condition. The staff were encouraging in making sure she was as active as possible and that she engaged with other residents. When my aunt was nearing the end of her life, the standard of care was exemplary, ensuring that, although usually in a coma and not responding, she was treated with respect and dignity. We could not have wished for anything more.
My experience of the nursing home is that they are very efficient, lovely staff and very caring. Have been very helpful in settling Mum in. Also helped me with social services. As you come into the entrance hall it is clean, airy and very welcoming. One staff member in particular has been particularly helpful in answering all my questions.
The staff at Chestnut View are always so kind to my mum and welcoming to me. Reception are cheerful, the maintenance team always happy to help and the carers and nurses attentive. The kitchen staff go out of their way to provide a tasty and nutritional vegetarian option for her. Both Mum and I are very grateful to them all for the care they show her.
Very attentive and caring staff considering the demanding nature of the job. The home and room is kept clean and tidy and during my visits the staff have been very professional in attending to the residents. The lounge would be my only criticism as it needs updating but I understand that is proposed.
Generally, the family are happy with Chestnut View. The reception and admin staff are exemplary. Other staff are kind and engaging but sometimes there seems to be a repetition of information required about my dad. If possible it would be nice to see more trips out of the home but I appreciate that staffing levels are key.
I am extremely happy with Chestnut View - I always find it is a lovely atmosphere in the care home and the staff and caters always very helpful. My mother seems very content and the carers are very kind and caring towards her.
Mum has been a resident of Chestnut View since May 2022. She is very happy and extremely well looked after. All the staff are very friendly and the standard of care is excellent. There is a very full and varied programme of activities to keep residents entertained as well as trips out. Family members are always made very welcome when visiting.
All the staff are extremely warm and welcoming. My mum is being so well looked after. She loves her tea and she doesn’t have to wait long for her next cup, even though the carers are very busy. They always have time to chat with a resident. When there is music on in the background, it’s nice to see a carer take a resident’s hand and sing to them. The home makes such a big effort in including family and friends at Christmas and BBQ in the summer. There are regular meetings too, which are very important. All in all, my mum is very happy.
My uncle has been at Chestnut View for some months now and I am very impressed with how well he is cared for. The carers are very kind and fun and enjoy a good relationship with my uncle. He is happy there and loves the food. All the staff are helpful and happy to discuss any queries or issues that come up. I am always welcomed as a visitor too and am very pleased with the home overall.
Spent a great afternoon sat outside at a BBQ with my aunt, it was lovely for me to meet other residents and their families. All the food was cooked to perfection and everything, from burgers, to salad, to cakes, was very tasty. All the staff were happily mingling with all the residents, it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves. A lot of time and energy was put into making the afternoon a complete success. My aunt and all the children really enjoyed the cakes and ice creams.
I attended the family bbq and summer party and had a lovely day, there was plenty of food and drink and lots of fun and laughter. The singer brought in was brilliant and sang exactly the right type of songs, including a fun ABBA medley. The raffle was great and lots of prizes were given out, I met and talked to the manager and carers who were all very supportive and friendly.
Everybody at Chestnut View was welcoming and caring, right from when I made my initial phone call asking whether they had space to take Mum for respite, until I took her home six weeks later. Nothing was too much trouble, either to help her with daily life, or supporting me with advice with how to get financial assessment etc. Mum became part of the 'family' very quickly and was encouraged to join in with the diverse activities, which she enjoyed. The building is clean and bright throughout, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The garden is pleasant to sit in, as are the various sitting areas, which is lovely because visitors are not restricted to having to sit in bedrooms to have private conversations. Although the staff are busy, there is a feeling of calm, which must affect everyone there. Mum came out saying she would be very happy to go there for respite again and that, should they day come where she had to live in a care home permanently, she would be very happy there.
We visited today, as we have on many occasions since our relative was admitted in May 2023. We have been greeted with smiles and really helpful staff every time. Often offered a drink and cake! The handyman has been of great help as our relative needed a phone line fitted, with complications, but he helped and all was well. Thank you!
My overall impression of Chestnut View Care Home is good. The staff are lovely, dedication and very approachable. They do a difficult job willingly and cheerfully. I found the nursing staff efficient, friendly and kind. The volunteers and maintenance crew were delightful and always went the 'extra mile'.
I think we all recognise how difficult it is making the decision to choose the right care home for your family member and to hopefully get the best care for them, especially if you’re not always locally enough to visit all the time. The home is well-run and clean and offers a huge number of activities but what stands out is, without doubt, the staffing team. Our family member is in the dementia unit but he also has nursing issues which are looked after too. He arrived in March and has been there five weeks and since he arrived he has been so well cared for. All the team from admin and reception to the nursing and care team have shown so much kindness, empathy and understanding not only to our family member but also to us, the family. As soon as you enter the home you are greeted with warmth and friendliness by all the staff - it has a very homely feeling. Our family member is always clean, tidy and smartly dressed - and is very happy.
