View Full Details of Collingwood Grange Care HomeBoth my parents have been cared for at Collingwood Grange, my father for five years, and my mother for many years. The food, drink and facilities are very good and a lot of activities and the care and support are excellent and treated with great kindness and dignity.
My mum has only been at the home since December 2024 and whenever I visit, I am warmly greeted by the lovely reception staff. All of the staff are kind and friendly and take very good care of my mum. There are plenty of activities that take place to keep everyone busy and entertained. The home is cleaned to a high standard. The rooms are big and spacious and feel very homely and the most important thing is my mum is very happy.
My mother in law has been in Collingwood Grange for 3 years and she has been looked after very well. The staff are wonderful, especially one staff member on reception. She has her hair done weekly and the lovely ladies paint her nails. She attends all the activities which she really enjoys. We would highly recommend Collingwood.
Right from the start when I visited Collingwood Grange Care Home, I was impressed, this was last October for respite care. Then in April of this year my friend became a permanent resident. You are treated as family, always a friendly welcome. The nurses are caring and patient. The care home is spotlessly clean and since the arrival of their new chef, the food has improved. It is no wonder that Collingwood has received a good inspection from CQC.
Until March this year, my mother had been cared for at home. She fell out of bed and had to go to hospital, she wasn't allowed to go home so I started looking for a nursing home. I had seen a few and was not happy with them. I was then told Collingwood Grange had a vacancy as soon as I saw the room I knew it would be perfect. Mum came here in April. I am so grateful to the staff who nurse her, they are so kind and patient. She is treated with respect and all her needs are met. All the staff here are kind and friendly, she couldn't be better cared for.
My wife has been a resident now since April 2024, having had respite care here in January 2024. My daughter and I consider Collingwood Grange Care Home to be very much the best care home in our area. Having visited a number of other homes, we believe Collingwood Grange to be the very best we have seen both for its staff and for its cleanliness and value.
I have seen significant difference in Collingwood Grange Care Home since the manager has been managing. The care is more personable and the environment more welcoming. One of the sisters is outstanding, very caring, keeps me informed and listens and acts on any requests. Sadly my mother in law is at end of life, but we could not wish for her to be looked after by anyone else. Collingwood are ensuring that her final weeks are as comfortable as they can be.
Mum is much stronger since moving to Collingwood Grange Care Home. The care staff and nurses are exceptional, very kind and caring. Pleased that we chose Collingwood Grange.
My wife has Alzheimer's and also has had a stroke meaning she has very limited speech and does not understand how to use the call button. She is paralysed on the right side and her right arm is very painful. She is incontinent. The management has agreed on a plan to have her checked regularly to see if she needs anything. This is not happening. I visit every weekday from 1:20 to 3:40. Quite often on Monday and Friday I have to call the carer before I leave (2 hours 10 mins). If this is happening when I am there, what is happening when I am not here?
I could not wish for better care for my wife aged 79. She has been at Collingwood Grange since March 2022. She is bedridden and has to be washed, dressed, and fed. The facilities are excellent and the staff is friendly, kind and caring. The Management listens and takes on board all suggestions and actions as appropriate following regular meetings.
After looking at many care homes for my husband, it was the hardest decision I have ever made but the minute I walked into Collingwood I knew this will be his home. When our family came for a visit as well, they thought the same as me. It was perfect, the staff are so kind and caring and I know he is in safe hands.
Since coming to Collingwood Grange Dad has been cared for very well, he is always clean and the food looks to be of a high standard. All the staff are always cheerful and very helpful. We are happy with his care.
Many things are improving since the new manager arrived three months or so ago. The staff work hard and are respectful (to relatives as well as residents). Management is very approachable and are focused on improving a number of aspects of care. I am very happy that my husband is there and has settled in well. There are some difficulties in care stuff and understanding the impact of his hearing aid not working. This effects his behaviour negatively. I'm pleased to be working with the management on future improvements/solutions. Collingwood Grange has the potential to be excellent!
My mother-in-law was in Collingwood Grange for seven months. During that time the care and understanding she received was excellent. The staff were all very kind and friendly and they encouraged my mother-in-law to take part in activities that were organised daily and they encouraged her to use the communal areas and to eat meals in the dining room. Everywhere was always very clean. She received end of life care that was I believe much better than she would have received in hospital, even playing classical music in her room in the mornings. The atmosphere was very calm and her care exemplary. I believe she was always treated with dignity. My husband and I will always be grateful to the wonderful staff. I would highly recommend Collingwood Grange.
The reception staff are excellent and generally the carers. In all the months my Mother has been residing here, there has not been any review of her care or if she is happy and has all that she requires. The food is very poor quality, lacks taste and imagination. No consideration has been given to whether my Mother is getting any nutrients. She has lost so much weight and is now very frail. Her carers generally take good care of her but overall, management of her health is lacking.
I realised that I hadn't written a review, and I really valued the reviews when looking at different care homes. Mum has been at Collingwood Grange for over 6 months now. We are so glad that we chose this care home as it's perfect for her. She has a beautiful large room which was arranged for her just as she wanted it. In fact, the facilities/maintenance staff put up her painting on the wall within days of arriving at the spot she had asked for. Requests are acted on quickly. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are all fantastic, from the wonderful receptionists who greet you to the manager who is reassuring to all the lovely care staff who look after Mum and provide the activities. She loves it. Mum has found purpose and friends to share her daily routines with. Mum enjoys the activities and the interaction with staff and other residents. The food is good and well-presented, and the choices are excellent. What a fantastic place! My sister and I are really grateful.
Collingwood Grange is excellent! The rooms are large, light and airy and residents are encouraged to bring some of their own furniture to make it more personal and help with settling. The garden is beautifully maintained and used whenever the weather permits. The activities are varied, tailored around national events wherever possible and include visiting entertainers on a regular basis. But the best thing about Collingwood Grange is the staff. From the reception, housekeeping, activities, admin, maintenance, nurses and especially the carers, all were welcoming and interested, not only in the resident but the whole family as well. The staff are the heart of this home and we cannot thank them enough for the care Mum received.
I can say nothing better than I am glad my mum is in their care. Thank you, Collingwood Grange.
My mother-in-law has been here for approximately seven weeks. It is excellent, rooms are clean and spacious, calm and lovely staff, ensuites are very good. Visited a few and this is the best. Staff are friendly and lovely.
Mum took quite a while to settle but with the help from some of the excellent staff, she is now joining in. The home is clean and staff are very welcoming. She is well cared for. The food is good but could be better, it is the one complaint Mum has, there needs to be more variety and can be a bit tasteless.
