All the staff at Birdscroft have cared for my mother to the very highest standard. I was kept informed as to my mother's health fully at all times. When she required hospital treatment they arranged it without delay. I couldn't have wished for my lovely mother to have been cared for better. Birdscroft has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and you feel that you are part of an extended family. Amazing caregivers!
My uncle was taken into Birdscroft Nursing Home in August 2023 and suddenly passed away on 25th December 2023. He was very difficult with his dementia and became depressed. Despite all of this, the care of the staff was second to none. They were all so kind and loving to him. We, as a family, were really impressed and are so thankful to them all. He was an accomplished organist and had sung with choirs. The staff liaised with the family to get a keyboard in for him and even suggested starting a resident choir for him to play for. This all meant so much to him and really helped him out of his depression.
Mum was moved to Birdscroft in May 2022 from a different care home and whilst the furnishings might not have been so good, the care at the home was immediately obvious. Mum settled very quickly and it was clear she was well looked after and cared for with kindness and affection.
In the time my husband spent in the nursing home, I couldn't wish for a nicer place. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and always had time for you. My husband was cared for and looked after so well with the staff who he got on with very well. He joined in all the activities which he loved and they were excellent. I would say it was a lovely experience for me and my family, knowing he was safe, well looked after and cared for and happy.
My mother was with Birdcroft for the final five weeks of her life. The staff were exceptional in looking after her during this stressful period. Very caring and accommodating. I cannot thank you enough for making Mum feel that she was at home.
I visit Birdscroft once a week to see bedridden people. I love my weekly visits. I have found so much care and love given to these people. All the staff treat the client with respect and kindness. No one is left alone, and staff are always checking on them. The food is amazing, and the cleanliness is second to none. The clients are always encouraged to join in the activities, which are always well throughout. The manager and her staff are a credit to you.
I have been a volunteer visitor at Birdscroft for the past 18 months, visiting every week on a Tuesday for 3 hours! I have been very impressed by the commitment and care of duty shown by all the staff. the residents speak highly about all the staff and since the care home manager has been in post there have been significant improvements such as a weekly activity programme and decor upgrades which are ongoing. The atmosphere is very positive and caring.
Birdscroft Nursing Home has been a very good home for my husband. He seems very settled here. The manager and staff are excellent. His needs are met and I am so impressed with how his fussiness with food is met. He is given exactly what he wants. I would not want him anywhere else. My thanks to all the staff and management.
Our dad was discharged from a 5-week stay in hospital to Birdscroft Nursing Home with the expectation he was there to recover, however, sadly his decline was rapid and the lovely staff coped with him and with us so well in this tricky period. We feel very lucky that the manager agreed to place him and made every arrangement for some special equipment etc to be available. We instantly found that he was in capable and compassionate hands - the nurse was exceptionally reassuring and informative and quick-acting where necessary. Sadly we didn’t have time to get to know a lot about the general running of the home but it seems very well managed now despite the funding restraints.
On entering the home it has a very warm and friendly atmosphere and approachable staff who are very caring. Excellent activities, very pleased with everything so far. My husband seems settled as they have taken a lot of time and care with him as he was very anxious due to being in hospital for three months.
My husband's dementia has deteriorated following Covid caught in another care home and he was placed by social services in Birdcroft Nursing Home. It was a very fortunate day for him and for us as a family. The thoughtful and professional care that he received from the moment he arrived and the consideration of us as a family was outstanding and very person-centred right up to the day of his passing. I can only describe it as compassionate loving kindness.
Thank you to the team at Birdscroft for looking after dad in his final days. The manager, deputy and nursing staff were very kind and so comforting to mum and I. He was much more peaceful there than in the hospital, I was grateful there was no problem to be with him as much as we needed to be as well.
My mum has recently moved into Birdscroft Nursing Home and was not in a great way when she moved in. I live in Australia and my sister is not in good health at the moment. We cannot fault the care she has received and the beautiful staff who have gone above and beyond in every way possible to help her settle into her new home. The staff have made her feel very special. I'm glad I got to visit and can rest assured my mum is in the best hands.
I would recommend this care home to anyone who asked me due to the care and compassion shown towards my mum whilst she resided here. The food was always described by my mum as plentiful and delicious and she was never short of a cup of tea or a biscuit. We were able to personalise her room and bring some of her own furniture. All the staff took the time to speak to my mum and when I phoned or visited we were always given a good update by people who appeared to genuinely know my mum. The staff work so hard here, it may not be the ritz but it is homely just how my mum liked it. The care, compassion and respect that were shown to my mum, my brother and I when my mum was ill and sadly passed away were exceptional, I cannot thank them enough.
My grandmother has recently moved to this home and we have been nothing but impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. The cleanliness of the home and the responsiveness and accommodation to the needs of our loved ones. We feel assured she is happy and well cared for.
From day one of my partners care in Birdscroft has been joyous and very peace of mind time. Every single one of the staff/nurses is so lovely and very caring, nothing is too much trouble.
My mum was in the late stages of dementia when she moved into Birdscroft Nursing Home, we cannot thank the management and staff enough for the kindness, care and compassion they not only showed to my mum before she sadly passed away but also to my dad. Whenever he visited mum the staff were there to comfort dad when mum was having a bad day, they even made sure he had eaten and if not would offer him something to eat and drink. We found all the staff very professional and always happy to help with any problems, the home was always clean and good home cooking, I can highly recommend Birdscroft and once again would like to thank the management and staff for the care that mum received during her time there.
I found the staff very helpful in looking after my husband, He seems very happy. Very clean everywhere. There's always someone in attendance. Medicines are given regularly. In all very good.
My mother has been in Birdscroft for just over two years. The staff are fabulous and always happy to help. We are always greeted with a smile when we arrive. Over this time the home has definitely improved. Many of the resident's rooms have been updated as well as the communal areas. Cleanliness is excellent. We have attended a couple of functions where relatives were invited to attend. The last event being a summer barbecue, complete with entertainment. The gardens are now looking much nicer with the introduction of pergolas and grapevines. There is a wide range of regular activities, with entertainers and animal visits. Bedridden patients are also included with room visits. Recently a tropical fish tank and two budgerigars have been introduced for the patient's stimulation. This appears to have gone down very well with the residents. My understanding is that more is planned once funding is secured. Could an external visit be planned to a garden centre or tea room at some point?
