View Full Details of Dene Place Care HomeDene Place is a very happy (and efficient) home, where my father has been happily settled since June. The staff are all friendly and caring - they even greet my often muddy dog with enthusiasm when he comes along for a visit. The food is freshly cooked and delicious - for the first time in a while, my dad is really enjoying his food. The rooms are all spotless. The team is run by the very professional, knowledgeable and friendly manager who sets the tone for a welcoming environment. She not only knows all the residents by name but also their individualities. I highly recommend Dene Place.
Dene Place Care Home is a superb care home, the staff are caring, courteous, attentive and professional. They have spared no effort in making my father-in-law feel at home and catering to his needs, and also welcoming my mother-in-law on her daily visits. The home is set in beautiful grounds, the rooms are homely and comfortable, the activities are varied, and the food is delicious (my father-in-law loves it!). The home is run by an excellent manager and she takes great care to know all of her residents and to ensure they are happy and settled and, together with her staff, creates a warm and welcoming environment. I highly recommend it.
Mum has been a resident at Dene Place Care Home for nearly 6 years and whenever we take her out for an outing, on arrival at the gates when returning, she usually says "Home, sweet home!" which I think says a lot about the establishment. The staff are always so kind and considerate, not only to mum and the residents, but to the families and friends who also become an integral part of the home. Also very welcoming whenever mum comes back after an outing. All staff are available to speak to at anytime, no matter what role they have. The home is spotless and everything is done to ensure residents' comfort. Recently mum had a fall (completely unavoidable and in no way suggests any negligence from staff) and the care she received at the time was exceptional and also on her late evening return from investigation at A&E. At all times, where mum's stated wishes respected too. We are very lucky to have found Dene Place.
The staff have been caring, attentive and thoughtful throughout my mother's stay. The flexibility to make her room homely made a big difference to her happiness. The staff were always supportive of her attempts to integrate and make the most of the facilities. The team were proactive in making modifications to the room to ensure it fitted my mother's needs. In particular, they were there for her in her final minutes. I highly recommend this care home.
My father has been a resident of Dene Place for 4.5 years. The residents are always placed at the heart of the service and as a result of this, my father continues to thrive at the age of 95 years. This is due to the high standards of care he receives from skilled carers and nurses who genuinely know and understand their residents' needs and preferences. Many of the staff have been working at the home for several years which provides consistency of care and creates a lovely homely feeling for residents and their families. The home is run well by the manager and her team are a credit to her. The activities programme keeps my father's interest in living a good life. They include quizzes, painting, cooking, poetry, talking, exercise, team games, music, yoga, singing, dancing and more. My father is quite clear that this is a good place and he doesn't want to go anywhere else.
My husband went to Dene Place for end-of-life care and was only there for a short time. I found the care to be excellent in every way from the minute he arrived. It was clear from the outset that the care extended not only to my husband but care for myself and my family, which was greatly received. I would really like to thank the staff personally for their kindness and sensitivity, albeit for a short period of time.
During my period of respite I received polite, caring and friendly support, service and attention.
When it suddenly became impossible for me to continue to care for my husband at home, the manager at Dene Place Care Home found him a room there as a matter of urgency. It was agreed from the start that this would be on a trial basis as my husband has Alzheimer's. Staff received him with the utmost kindness and made every effort to help him settle in. He enjoyed the wonderful garden in the fine June weather. After a few weeks, it became apparent that his condition actually required the attention of a more specialist dementia home, and he was quickly found a room in another care home. The transfer was carried out seamlessly and kindly. I am incredibly grateful to all the staff at Dene Place Care Home and would recommend the home to anybody.
Resident's families were most kindly invited to celebrate the Coronation by joining them for the Monday Bank Holiday. We turned up just as the heavens opened, this is England after all! The staff were so kind and the plans sufficiently flexible that we all joined in a quiz relating to the Coronation itself, followed by all sorts of fun involving passing large sponge balls around, and batting balloons with foam sticks. We were encouraged to bring our picnics into the lounge, where we were able to sit and eat with my mother, who was provided with a marvellous buffet lunch by the staff. Then there was further entertainment, with a lot of laughter and singing. The house had been beautifully decorated with flags and bunting and the atmosphere was very jolly. Thank you Dene Place for a very happy day (photographs are on Dene Place’s social media page, and show clearly how much everyone enjoyed themselves).
I cannot thank the staff at Dene Place Care Home enough for the care and attention given to my parents. Always polite and patient, they go out of their way to ensure that residents feel safe and have plenty of interest in their lives.
My mum has been in the home for more than three years now and has been extremely well looked after throughout. The staff have always treated her with respect, kindness and patience which is much needed on occasions! A range of activities are offered (and published to relatives) for those who wish to join in but it is equally acceptable for residents to enjoy their own company if they prefer. I have always found the home's communications open and transparent and any questions or requests that I have are answered promptly.
This is a well-run care home which provides entertainment, activities and outings which are interesting and well-received by the residents. The staff are considerate and kind.
My dad has been in the home for three years. He is very happy. The standard of all aspects of his care is superb.
The staff are kind and very friendly. Put new residents at their ease. We have new cooks, and the food is excellent. The activities are excellent, and the manager finds interest for each resident, plus group sessions to exercise, Wordsearch and spot the difference to use our minds. Televisions in every room 9plus large screens in the dining room and lounge rooms). Health doctors, nurses and carers. The manager makes sure everything runs smoothly and solves any problem we might have.
Very caring and helpful staff. Always willing to respond to requests about relatives and, in general, lovely older but refurbished and modern inside. Building spacious. Rooms with ensuite and all amenities. The home is in a lovely rural setting with a large garden.
Dene Place found a room for Mum at short notice when she had an eye operation, so couldn't cope at home. Her room is large, with a lovely outlook over the garden and fields, and wild animals (rabbits, deer, horses) can sometimes be seen. The staff have been very friendly and caring, and Mum says she likes the food. They brought her a new TV when the old one was playing up. Her only complaint is that the bed is not as comfortable as her bed at home!
I find all the permanent staff to be very helpful and caring. They really go above and beyond their duties and show a great deal of personal care and attention. We have regular outings and activities, such as live music, which we all enjoy.
Lovely staff. Very helpful. My mum has been well looked after at the Dene place care home. They seem to look after the residents well plus every so often have entertainment for them. Would highly recommend.
Dad became a resident of Dene Place just before Christmas 2021 following a diagnosis of an untreatable brain tumour at the age of 86. The six weeks he spent at Dene Place before he sadly passed away, provided precious time for the family to spend with him. The whole team provided amazing care for Dad during this time, particularly as his condition deteriorated. Their support and flexibility for the family, and particularly my mother, to visit Dad was hugely appreciated.
Some of the staff are very good. But the agency staff that are brought it, while properly trained, don't know the ropes sometimes. You do get the feeling they're all too often "shorted staffed". That said, there are positives! Dene Place is clean, well maintained, in a peaceful, rural setting. Residents are certainly treated with dignity, though how promptly this is done may vary. I do feel that being here has helped my recovery considerably.
