View Full Details of Moorhouse Care HomeAlways found staff v welcoming, although they're always busy with residents care. The overall impression is a well maintained and vital care home. Residents appear happy and content, no one is agitated or insecure, this would indicate residents needs (physical & emotional) are being met consistently. Staff are professional and friendly. The home is a perfect size - not too many residents, nice balance in numbers. No neglect - everyone is caring, compassionate to the residents needs. Spotlessly clean environment - reassuring loved ones are in good hands. Would highly recommend the are home - note for improvement a small day room near reception for more private visits.
Mum was taken to the garden centre by two staff members to buy some compost so she could plant some daffodil bulbs in the containers. She also had a look around and bought some of her favourite biscuits. When I spoke to Mum that night she said it was the first time since being at Moorhouse it felt like a 'normal' day, more like being at home. She had really enjoyed planting out the bulbs when she got back to Moorhouse.
My mother was cared for with love and great attention to her well-being in a very difficult time in her life as she suffered from dementia and physical problems. All the staff showed great professionalism and were very kind and thoughtful to myself and my sisters. Lots of thought was given to entertaining everyone and having a good time. Mum has now passed away and this was made very special for her by all Thank you all at Moorhouse.
My sister moved into Moorhouse Care Home in August 2024. She recognised she needed 24 hour care after living alone in a cottage for many years. She settled quickly and has said the staff are excellent, supportive, attentive and helpful. The food is good, very regular and if you have to go into such a home you couldn't find a better one.
This was my mum's first Xmas at Moorhouse. She had such a lovely time and has said this has been one of the best Xmas in recent years. Involved in the Xmas party, which she enjoyed immensely and so very proud of her daughter who provided the music on this occasion The panto and Xmas day lunch were amazing and all the staff made her feel so special. I want to thank you all so much for making this the best Xmas for my mum and giving us, all the family, so much peace of mind that she is being cared for so well.
My wife arrived at Moorhouse in November 2024 and has settled in well and has been supported by friendly, caring, professional staff. She has a lovely, well-furnished and well-decorated room which is very comfortable. The food is nutritious and suits my wife and she is participating in the varied daily activities programme which is completely organised and enthusiastically encouraged. It was a difficult decision to admit my wife into a care home but it is working out well which is a great relief and all at Moorhouse have assisted in this. Thank you.
Really impressed with the genuine care of my mum and other residents from the cleaning staff up to mangamanet. The activities seem really varied and engaging.
Mum was 99 years old and moved into Moorhouse for the last 3 months of her life. The staff were always wonderful to her and welcoming to our family. The evening before she died she said how lucky she felt to be where she was. Would thoroughly recommend Moorhouse.
What a lovely change has occurred at Moorhouse following the appointment of a new temporary manager to the home. There is a happy atmosphere in the building, the staff are smiling and now talking to the residents during the week. This sadly didn't happen under the previous management team. Long it may continue. The food quality is so much better. We now have our mid-week roast back on the menu, much better than having sausages twice a week for our midday lunch. All in all, they are looking up.
My aunt has been so well cared for at Moorhouse. The staff have been so helpful and caring. Special thanks to 2 staff members at my aunt's departing. Thank you from all of my aunt's family.
My mother-in-law has been at Moorhouse for a number of years and during this time she has developed into a happy and sociable person. The care she has received has been outstanding. The staff are always kind and helpful. The home feels very homely and the food looks nutritious and delicious, like a five-star hotel. Would highly recommend Moorhouse, a very happy, friendly place for a loved one.
Moorhouse has provided my mum with an excellent level of care since starting earlier this year. She has settled in well and really likes the staff around her and the food. She has never been an outgoing person but it is a joy to see her joining in an afternoon sing-along and being a positive part of the community. From a time when she was in real difficulty, Moorhouse Care Home saved her old age and made it enjoyable again.
My wife is a patient at Moorhouse Care Home as she has vascular dementia she thinks it's a hospital. She is amazed that when we visit, there is no restriction on numbers for time to stay. She thinks the staff are all friendly and helpful. She enjoyed the entertainment provided. My impression of the home was that it was well-cleaned and maintained. The staff and management were friendly and helpful.
The building is very welcoming and has a 'guest house' feel about it. Staff are all extremely pleasant and friendly. Many of the staff have been there since Mum arrived, which is comforting to know as it makes it more familiar for her with her severe dementia. The grounds are very well maintained and give the residents pleasure on pleasant days. I would have no hesitation in recommending Moorhouse.
Mum never wanted to go into a care home but found the care she received was amazing and was happy with her time with you and the family were always made to feel very welcome. She loved being able to look out of the window and watch the world go by.
Our aunt is very happy at Moorhouse, she likes her room and the food and the activities particularly those that involve animals. My own experience of the staff is that they are friendly and helpful.
My mother has been at Moorhouse for just over a year now and she has always been very happy there. We have seen different managers and staff over the last year and have had a few issues in the past, but I must say the team that are now at Moorhouse seem to be really working together, this can most certainly be seen in the morale of the staff which reflects on the residents. Activities became excellent and I hope all her fantastic work will continue. Thank you Moorhouse.
My aunt has been at Moorhouse for 18 months. The family is very happy with the standard of care provided. Most importantly, my aunt is very happy too. She looks a great deal healthier than when she was living in her own home assisted by carers. The food is good and there are plenty of activities for my aunt to participate in, if she wants to. The carers seem excellent to me.
Having researched many homes in the area we are delighted we chose Moorhouse. From our first meeting with management to experiencing the care and attention from the nurses, the friendly housekeeping staff and great help from maintenance when we needed help, we cannot fault Moorhouse. What particularly stands out is the understanding of the individual needs with dementia patients. Dignity is respected. Compliments to the chefs! Thank you.
Mum went to Moorhouse Nursing Home straight from hospital. it was not something she wanted and was very reluctant to engage with anything on offer and stayed in her room. over a relatively short period of time, she went downstairs for both meals and activities due to the encouragement and engagement of the staff Staff have got to know Mum and her needs and ways really quickly and she actively engages with them and chats away happily. when her newfound friend recently passed away, staff recognised Mum's distress and were really empathetic to her. her medical needs are monitored well and when action is needed it is dealt with quickly. The manager at Moorhouse is both friendly and approachable. She makes herself readily available in person and responds quickly to emails overall I am really impressed with Moorhouse and feel Mum is safe, and really well looked after. Thank you to the manager and the entire team
