View Full Details of Moorlands Nursing HomeAlthough Mum was only there for a short time before she passed away, the team of nurses and carers were brilliant and looked after Mum really well. She felt comfortable and secure, and they constantly updated me on her condition. I can't express how grateful I am that Mum spent her final days in peace and quiet.
My Mother recently spent 6 weeks at Moorlands in between leaving the hospital and returning home. The property is very dated and lacks cleanliness. There are two shower rooms used by those without their own en-suite. The boiler that provides essential hot water to both showers failed and to the best of my knowledge, has still not been repaired/replaced a month on. My Mum was offered a lukewarm option which is totally unsatisfactory for an 84-year-old who really struggles with the cold. This is very basic ‘duty of care’. I would have expected a responsible Care Home to have boiler maintenance contract and have the issue resolved within 48 hrs. While the Care and Nursing staff were always friendly and helpful, the home is very poorly managed. Email response is slow and sometimes doesn’t happen at all. We gave Management advance notice of Mum’s departure, but there was no one around to formally handle the hand over of her care, we just walked out. In conclusion, we would not recommend this Care Home.
I could not have asked for a better home for my mum to be placed in, while some updating is required it is irrelevant compared to the compassion and understanding of the staff, their very friendly nature and team spirit are an absolute credit to the very caring manager of this home. Mum was in Moorlands for 7 months and not once did the standards of her care drop, whenever I would mention any issue with Mum the nursing staff would already have picked up on it and be ready for any action that needed to be taken. Not only did the staff keep Mum's spirit up but they also provided a good understanding and support to all the family. Cannot recommend highly enough.
What can I say, just total relief and thankfulness that we found Moorlands! From the minute I walked into the home I had a good vibe about it and this continued throughout the visit. I knew in my bones that Mum would be well cared for here and her needs met by the competent, friendly, able staff who I met that day. On subsequent visits myself and my brother have been happy with Mum's care/treatment and we've found that the managers and staff can't do enough for her/us. I would totally recommend this care home to anyone looking for the best professional care for their loved one. Well done Moorlands!
First impressions are most important, are they not? Mine have to be complementary and constructive based on what I have seen and experienced to date. My sister has recently taken up residence here, though we live locally and know this location well. Every pre-residence visit has been met with a consistent and welcoming attitude by all. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff there. My sister's particular concerns and needs have been listened to. My sister has medical conditions that I am confident will receive comprehensive, consistent and appropriate consideration by the staff there. There is a philosophy of proactive activity in evidence which means a level of individual resident attention to all that, by my own experience, exceeds that in evidence at other such nursing homes.
I visited my grandmother a few weeks ago and it was my first time visiting the home. My experience was amazing and has changed my view on care homes forever. From the moment I walked in, I received such a heartfelt welcome and the atmosphere was vibrant, loving and a very happy one. Residents, including my grandmother, were very happy and I witnessed meaningful interactions with staff and residents. I also got to meet the home manager and the deputy manager, they were just as warm and welcoming and very passionate about residents and the home. Meeting them made me realise why the home is very well run and has a great energy and atmosphere about it. I am happy my loved one is in Moorlands and I couldn’t have asked for a better place for her to call home. She loves it at Moorlands and my heart is settled knowing and witnessing this. A big well done to the whole team who make this place fantastic!
My mother is very lucky to have been placed in this home by the hospital. The facilities are very clean and good. The staff are excellent and very kind even though my mother, now aged 98 can be awkward. The quality of care is so good that my mother has lived for longer than expected after breaking her hip and suffering two bouts of Covid. The only sad thing is that she is so bedbound that she does not use the full range of facilities especially now she is so very frail.
I find Moorlands is a very caring home staff are wonderful my mum is very happy and cared for. Food is very good, my mum likes to eat she is cared for so I don’t worry about her. It is very clean and tidy when I visit my mum the staff always make me a cup of tea and are friendly. The carers are always nice and polite the admin always tells me what’s going on in the home.
Moorlands has been very accommodating to our family, firstly with our mother and then our father. I value the respect the staff show to my father as a former medical professional. The food is generous and well-presented. The rooms are below par in terms of design and decor but I appreciate that it can be difficult and costly to alter and upgrade an old property. My father is unable to participate in most of the activities and would appreciate more 1:1 attention but I understand that staffing levels may preclude this. Overall, I feel that Dad is in a safe environment with caring members of staff.
My mum has been at Moorlands Nursing Home since July 2022 and after a few teething problems with her care plan which were sorted out eventually, she has settled and is happy. The decor is tired and needs updating, the lounge area needs to be made more inviting and cosy seeing as this is the only place the residents have to go other than their rooms. The carers are wonderful and Mum has built up a good rapport with them. Mum enjoys the activities but often says she's bored so a little more interaction would be helpful, overall we are pleased with the care Mum receives.
Our experience was really good. We were greatly supported by Moorlands Care Home. It provided a safe space for Mum in her final months of life. We will always be grateful for their care and support for Mum and her family. The best part of this home is the staff! They were: Caring. Loving. Understanding. Supportive. Generous with their time despite the pressures of a very difficult job! They not only cared and had fun with Mum, making her so settled. They were also extremely caring to my Dad. It meant so much to us! Nothing was too much for them. They especially tuned in to Mum and her needs during the end-of-life stage, and enabling our whole family to spend time with her and say our precious goodbyes to an amazing Mum! I only wish they knew the normal Mum, but somehow felt they saw glimmers of her and knew! We thank them so much! Always grateful. God bless you all.
Sadly mum died in this month, but had been at Moorlands Nursing Home for a few months. Myself and the rest of the family were very impressed with her care package. All the staff were helpful in showing care and compassion to her and to us as a family.
My husband was taken to Moorlands Nursing Home for assessment from the hospital. It turned out to be a fully awful experience! After one month, he was supposed to go into a private room but kept getting excuses all the time, I was shown and promised a room, which they then said they couldn't anymore because of infection! They had put someone else in it! Lies all along the way, managers and office staff are hardly ever seen, and no one is in the lounge with the residents. My husband fell out of his wheelchair which they insisted he sat in. Anyway, moved him to a better care home!
The newer members of staff have a warm and caring manner towards my mum. There are, however, issues I have with her current care. After an excellent care plan review, my hope is that these will be addressed, although progress is slow. I'm happy for mum to be at Moorlands and look forward to seeing the improvements continue until the pre-pandemic standards are achieved again.
Friendly staff with nice bedside manner, always attentive to requests and questions. Care and attention are given to client needs. A pleasant home with good facilities, easy visiting regime and easy parking.
My friend was sent to Moorlands Nursing Home for a medical assessment to ascertain the level of care he needed for future residency. He considered himself lucky to have been sent to such a well-organised, caring and efficient nursing home, he wanted to continue staying there due to the comfort and care he received during his stay. I too was impressed with everything about Moorlands, I was welcomed like an old friend by all staff, be they from the office, catering, general or nursing and I was able to enjoy the events laid on by all to entertain the residents over the Christmas period, the residents and guests were party to food, drink and a variety of entertainers who encouraged participation. I would heartily recommend Moorlands and thank all concerned for making my friend's stay a comforting and enjoyable experience.
My Mother spent the last three months of her life at Moorlands from September to December 2022. After a short settling-in spell, she was very content with all aspects of the home. As her son, I wanted her last days to be spent in a comfortable, safe and caring environment and the team at Moorlands achieved this extremely well. The staff were friendly, caring and professional, nothing was too much trouble. The homes facilities were very good and the overall atmosphere was excellent. I can not think of a negative comment. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending Moorlands.
All good. No problems. I must admit, I have seen a lot of improvements.
We brought our mum to Moorlands for a 2 week respite. After 1 week Mum didn't want to go home so have extended her stay with the potential of long term. The staff are amazing, friendly, caring and extremely helpful. They love Mum and she adores all the staff, hence why she doesn't want to go home. I rate the home extremely high and were so lucky to find the place and lucky they had availability.
Will recommend the home to all.
