View Full Details of Wray Common Nursing & Residential HomeAbsolutely amazing staff, they have looked after our dad with so much love and care, the rooms are like home from home, we could not have been happier from the care Dad received since he arrived in 2024. Thank you so much.
Care, kindness, support and medical needs are excellent.
My mother was a resident at Wray Common Nursing & Residential Home from Jan 2024 until she died in Dec 2024. The home is very well run with an excellent manager. I could not have been happier with the standard of care she received from the day she arrived until she died. The kindness and care from every staff member and the way we were treated and welcomed was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. The professionalism and caring manner of the senior nursing staff in ensuring my mum was pain-free near the end made everything so much easier for us to manage in knowing that she was in such safe hands. When Mum was able she enjoyed the activities, especially with live singers and also being able to be outside in the garden in summer. Food was excellent, all home-cooked with a varied selection and home-baked cake every afternoon. Birthdays were always celebrated for residents with a special cake/celebration! To be honest, Wray Common Nursing & Residential Home exceeded my expectations and I have no hesitation in recommending it and giving a 5* review!
I'd like to thank the manager and all the members of the team at Wray Common for their excellent care of my dad in the last month of his life. Dad really wanted to die in his own home, but as the end of his life got closer it became harder and harder at home, and he changed his mind. Wray Common is a lovely, friendly place full of people who really care. I wish dad had made the decision to go there sooner - I think he would have had an easier journey through those last few months. I would recommend Wray Common to anyone having to make this difficult choice, the staff are friendly and respectful, and the care was tailored to exactly what my dad wanted and needed. As a visitor I was always made very welcome.
My mother has been a resident of Wray Common Nursing home since October 2024. She has a number of challenging needs including dementia. The home have exceeded expectations in their duty to care for my mother. From the management, the nursing, through to the housekeeping, the carers, and all the support staff, it is a very hard working professional environment with an amazing family feel. And as a result all the staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. The home are always quick to communicate any issues or requests to me and likewise the communication channels to the home are very open. Any needs raised are promptly addressed and actioned by the manager and his team. I cannot thank the staff enough for keeping my mother in a safe and happy environment.
My mum was cared for by Wray Common for end-stage cancer after a brief stay in hospital. She was only in the home for 5 weeks but the care she received was amazing. All the staff were lovely from the nurses all the way to the cleaning staff. Friendly, smiling and extremely supportive. My mum was very happy here and they worked hard to accommodate her needs for privacy and comfort. The care home manager was personable and was only too happy to take on board any suggestions to make her last few weeks the best they possibly could be. They always kept me informed of any doctors visits, medication changes etc. and there was usually someone on hand to talk about her ongoing care needs or any concerns I had. Thank you to all who had a share in her care and for the level of service you provide in the most challenging and distressing situations, you really helped us to enjoy our last few weeks with Mum/Grandma.
Mum was admitted to Wray Common Nursing Home in March 2024. She was very run down and depressed and we felt she could no longer look after herself. I am pleased to say that after three months of excellent care from the home, Mum is now returning to her own home to be looked after by care visitors provided by the same group. In the time Mum was at the home she received the best of care from experienced, knowledgeable staff who were also very friendly and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending the home to people considering this step for their loved ones. We are fortunate Mum has felt well enough to cope at home again but I would not hesitate in choosing to return her here if, unfortunately, she has to leave her flat again.
My mother stayed here for 4 years. During Covid, every effort was made so that I could visit Mum. The staff were most helpful and supportive when we could go out to make sure mum was ready with her coat, shoes etc. The food was excellent and much enjoyed. For Mum's 98th birthday, we had a family lunch table so could celebrate with her.
My husband lived here for 18 months. Very happy with all elements of the care he received, including 'end of life' care. Always treated with dignity.
My father received end-of-life care for only a short period - 10 days - after a sudden decline at home, a month before his 90th birthday. From the initial discussion to arrange an urgent assessment, to his final moments. The care from all the staff was exemplary. My (large) family and I visited frequently and were always well received with a warm and sensitive welcome and appropriate requests for refreshments. More importantly, my father was cared for with dignity and respect and always looked fresh and well-groomed, reflecting his love of neatness while alive. A lovely and professional team.
Our dear mum has been a resident at Wray Common for over six years. We would like to express our profound gratitude for all that has been done for her during this time. To know that she was safe, comfortable and treated with such respect has been a constant support to us all. Everyone's kindness to us all as a family has also been the greatest of gifts. Most importantly, in mum's final days, she was treated with incredible dignity and tenderness and we were able to be with her just as we wished. For that, we will always be grateful.
Very pleased with the way my brother is being looked after. The staff are so kind and helpful. He is very comfortable and is getting the help he needs. We as a family thank everybody so much for their kindness.
My mum was in Wray Common for Palliative care for only 3 weeks. All the staff and I stress all were amazing they were respectful, caring and went above and beyond. The nurses were very caring and very professional, they made mum's last few weeks special and dignified. They have doctors from a local practice on hand if needed and they worked well together. We can’t thank them enough, I am so grateful to every single member of staff you make a great team, so thank you.
Mum was only in the nursing home for three weeks before she died but the care she received was wonderful. All the staff went out of their way to make sure that she was settled and had all the comfort she might want. Cannot praise them enough.
When Mum was first admitted to Wray Common, we didn't expect her to last long. With the care and devotion of the staff, she outlived those expectations by a year. Staff have always been friendly and happy to talk whenever we have visited. Updates have been frequent It has been lovely watching my mother enjoy her last year especially when able to be with the other residents. Thank you to all for making this experience memorable in a good way.
My mother was exceptionally well looked after here. The staff were very caring and considerate. The room was always lovely and clean. The staff were always smiling - how they cope with the difficult situations, I really admire them. I was always made comfortable during my visits and offered tea/coffee with cake!
Dad was a resident for a few days only. He and my family were treated very well indeed by all whom we came into contact with.
When I was admitted to the home (I was told by my daughter that I was not expected to live for long). As I am a fighter with the aid of the magical staff I have fought my way back to health and live back in my Bungalow on my own and have an active life. My daughter is able and willing to drive me around. I have "arranged" medication by the "Home" and am able to get around on my Mobility Scooter walk quite well by carrying a walking stick for stability.
My father was in Wray Common for a year, he was not expected to survive, but, with the wonderful care of the nursing team, he gradually got better and better and is now back living on his own property. I cannot thank all the staff, nursing, kitchen, housekeeping, etc, for all they have done for my dad. He loved chatting to everyone, and everyone loved him. I bring him back each week to visit. I also found everyone very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this nursing home.
My mum was in hospital for a number of weeks and we were so pleased to get mum into Wray Common. Mum went in as a palliative patient and they were so respectful of our situation, that the nurse not only looked after mum but gave us emotional support as mum's passing came closer. We were allowed to sleep in mum's room and stay with her until the end, we were offered endless tea and cake etc. They really are a family and was sad that mum only got to stay such a short time.
