View Full Details of Freshford CottageMy mum was discharged from the Princess Royal Hospital - for End of Life Care on the 9th December 2024. Although my Mum's outlook very bleak on arrival to Freshford Cottage Nursing Home. In the 3 and a half months since she has been at Freshford Cottage - She has responded well to the treatment and care given to her by all the staff that care for her. Since her discharge she has complex care needs and these are fully met by the Nursing Team and Carers.
My wife has been at Freshford Cottage for four weeks now, and it has proved to be an excellent choice. It is homely and friendly, the staff are highly professional and very caring. Everywhere is beautifully clean and the food is very good. I don't think my wife could have been better looked after.
My father, aged 95, spent 8 months in Freshford Cottage after discharge from hospital following a fall and, while he was still well enough to appreciate it, he enjoyed the view of the sea from his room. The staff were all very kind to him right up until the end, and while I was living abroad, several people who visited him assured me that he was comfortable and cared for very well. End-of-life care is always a difficult time for everyone, but Freshford Cottage managed this phase of my dad's life in a kind and and professional manner.
My mum has been with Freshford Cottage for the last few weeks. In that time she has received the best care. Staff have been so kind and caring, not only towards mum, but to me and my family too. The home is very cosy and does not feel at all clinical. The rooms are lovely. I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and support over the last few weeks and I know mum is in the best place for care.
We were offered a room at Freshford following a diagnosis of terminal cancer and stage 4 dementia. From the moment we did the initial visit we felt very relaxed and comfortable with the home and the whole team. Every staff member is very caring and approachable, and understand the resident's needs. Nothing is too much to ask and they communicate everything, good days and bad, which is refreshing. Home cooked food has gone down a treat, especially the desserts. They encourage residents to join in with activities and the whole place just has a lovely feel to it. A friend asked me after the first few weeks what I thought and I said that I would happily put my own mum there if the time came. Great bunch of staff and management. Thank you for caring.
Our mother spent her last 8 days receiving end-of-life care, it was the best decision made. All staff we met were professional, and the care and compassion shown to our mother was excellent. Freshford cottage in Seaford is a wonderful nursing home.
So pleased our aunt was recommended to this Nursing Home from the local Hospital. The warmth, flexibility and support given to her has been amazing and our aunt can live out the rest of her days in comfort and kindness. Thanks on her behalf to all the staff.
During December 2023 the residents were lucky enough to have an afternoon outing for cream tea nearby and were transported there and back with carers and visitors, as most were in wheelchairs, the transport, a special wheelchair mini bus was supplied by the nursing home. The visit was a great hit with all and enjoyed by all. During the morning of the same day, my husband had a hospital appointment at Eastbourne with transport ordered by the nursing home, the hospital was running late with their appointments! On arrival back to the nursing home the staff rallied around him gave him lunch in his room and made sure he was comfortable and ready to go out again! Which he did.
There is a warmth in this nursing home that I didn't experience in any of the other homes I visited when I was looking for residential care for my mum. I like the fact that it is relatively small so it feels, and is, personal. The staff are all lovely, as are the residents. You can tell by the way the staff interact with the residents that they truly care about them. I visit regularly and I feel like everyone has become part of my extended family. My mum spent a few weeks in an alternative home before we had the good fortune of finding Freshford Cottage, it was a completely different experience and I count my blessings we were able to move her here.
I honestly cannot rate Freshford Cottage high enough. My mum has been there now for seven years and continues to be happy and well cared for. The staff go all out to make sure that the resident's needs are met. They do activities almost every day and it’s so lovely to go onto their website and see what my mum's been up to since our last weekly visit. They have an ‘open door’ policy which means I can go and see her anytime day or night. We couldn’t have found a more lovely place for her and I would highly recommend this home. They treat the residents like they’re part of their family and we are made welcome every time we visit. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could. It’s just brilliant and my mum is so happy there.
Freshford Cottage is a homely care home that provides professional nursing care. All the staff are just lovely people, I cannot speak highly enough of them. They genuinely cared for my relative and became her true friends, responding to her individual needs. I felt totally reassured that she was safe and being well looked after. The office staff too were always helpful when it came to matters of admin. Couldn't think of anywhere better for my relative.
I am so pleased that my husband is in Freshford Cottage. The care is excellent and the staff are lovely and look after me if I get upset.
Outstanding is all I can say. My father went to Freshford for end-of-life care from the hospital. Dad was looked after as if he was the staff's own family. I and my brothers cannot thank them enough - simply superb in every way.
We feel we were so lucky for Dad to be admitted to Freshford Cottage Care Home. The staff, every single one of them, were so lovely to Dad. They really cared for him so well and helped us deal with the situation. Whatever Dad needed he got and really enjoyed the people around him. I cannot recommend Freshford Cottage enough.
Us as a family are very happy with mum being at Freshford Cottage. They look after her so well and keep the family informed with any news. Fantastic nursing home.
Dad was only at Freshford Cottage for a week (end-of-life), but the staff, manager, and all concerned were brilliant.
My mum-in-law got admitted to Freshford after being discharged from hospital on end-of-life with cancer. Sadly she passed away on 27 November 2022 peacefully. The staff at the care home are tremendous and kept her very comfortable during her time there and they kept me informed various times throughout her stay. All the staff made us feel very welcome and never once rushed us to end our visit. My husband is in a wheelchair and he is exceptionally thankful for all the effort the staff went through to make sure he was able to visit his mom in her last days at Freshford.
The care and kindness shown to my Mum since being at Freshford Cottage in September 2021 have been exemplary which has helped her settle into her new home and be happy there. The staff are attentive, approachable, and professional. The activities organised at Freshford Cottage are very varied and something that Mum has enjoyed participating in. A friendly home from home.
The staff at Freshford cottage were brilliant with my dad, they were very patient, tried all sorts of ways to tempt him to eat when he was feeling poorly and clearly cared for him very much. Dad wasn’t able to speak but I could tell from his face lighting up and his body language that he was very fond of most of the staff.
Have kept us well informed and mum super safe during the pandemic. Always polite, friendly and helpful, which allows me and my family to rest easier, knowing mum is being really well looked after. We cant thank you enough.
