View Full Details of The Laurels Care CentreWords cannot fully express how thankful we are as a family for the kindness and support we received. The transition of placing a loved one into care is never easy, but The Laurels took that burden off our shoulders with such compassion. From the moment Dad arrived, he was greeted with genuine warmth and dignity. After a long hospital stay, he faced the challenge of adjusting back to a routine, and every staff member played a role in helping him-especially on the difficult days. He was always treated with care, respect, and patience. We went from preparing to say goodbye to Dad to watching him walk himself to the lounge for activities, engaging in conversations, and truly enjoying life again. That transformation is a testament to the power of excellent care. Good care, good food, and incredible staff make all the difference. If we could pick up The Laurels and move it closer to home, we would in a heartbeat! We miss you all.
Unfortunately dad's stay was shorter than expected, and he died within 2 months. I regret we didn't move him in sooner, as I feel his quality of life could have improved. He was well cared for by an amazing team of friendly carers. He was always clean and treated with dignity. His teeth were brushed, even on his final day. Attention to detail, hospitals simply don't have the time for. I witnessed the staff attend to other residents with patience and empathy. Having dementia Dad wasn't involved in any of the activities. But I saw a group of ladies grouped together every day, enjoying what was on offer. Once I overheard "Thanks for another wonderful day" to the activity leader. There's a sense of community. One thing to improve is definitely the weekend office hours. Waiting to be let in and out takes away precious time with relatives, on most people's only day off. And it would be helpful to have someone to ask questions / leave messages with for senior staff to get back to.
The person being cared for was shown no dignity. They were left in bed day and night. When I rang for assistance on two occasions it took 30 mins for a member of staff to attend. The floor where this person was had a shared lounge space with a small kitchen. I saw dirty /broken blinds and I witnessed residents shouting for assistance and no help. Bins under sink open without lids. Dirty unwiped surfaces and used plaster seen on side. Personal care was poor, incontinence pads placed loose on client /no nets /no pants. Skin care and mouth care poor. Food around mouth, on clothes and bedding, found from previous day. Drink never available beside within reach of client. No attempt at enrichment or stimulating activities for client. Client became unwell, family told she would be nursed by the home on the 'peace pathway'. Husband asked for wife to be taken to hospital. Wife was severely dehydrated, improved, now thriving in new residential. Vulnerable clients with memory issues deserve better.
For the short time our Mum was in the care of The Laurels we have nothing but good words for the care home. Mum's last few weeks were very hard on her and the staff from top to bottom at The Laurels were exceptional and ensured her last few weeks were comfortable and caring.
I would like to thank the lovely staff at the Laurels who went out of their way to look after my dad in his last weeks. Everyone knew him and made us feel so welcome. Dad passed away at the Laurels in June and we spent the last week with him. The staff made us feel so welcome offering drinks and snacks at all hours of the day and through the night. I had only ever heard horror stories of nursing homes but as soon as my Mum visited the Laurels she knew she wanted Dad to go there as she said it was small and friendly and she was spot on. The last week my dad was non-responsive it made us feel so lucky as the staff would still pop in and talk with Dad and the fact they all knew him right up to the senior team who would often stop for a chat. So many members of their team went out of their way to make Dad's time easier and I thank them all.
A very friendly and calming environment. Professional and kind staff.
My father spent a short time at The Laurels Nursing Home - where he died. I feel that he was very well looked after and could not have been in a better place. The staff and management were attentive, friendly and helpful and knew their job very well. Special thanks to the deputy manager who was very understanding and helpful.
Although my father only spent a very short time at The Laurels Nursing Home, we, as a family, could not have wished for better care. He passed away there and the staff were simply wonderful to him and to us. We thank them for their care and attention to detail.
The team at the Laurels are the kindest, most sincere and most caring staff you’ll ever be fortunate enough to meet! This nursing home is very special, they looked after my mother-in-law in the last 7 weeks of her life. Their care for her was exemplary and the care and support they have provided us has been so full of kindness. Cannot find the words to express how grateful we are to all the staff. Thank you.
My son is treated very well with some staff going beyond their jobs to make sure he is comfortable. It's a pleasure to go in here with such a warm atmosphere and all the staff treat visitors like friends.
We are very happy with the care provided for my mother-in-law. The staff are very kind and helpful and they provide the best care. The care home is very clean and the food is very good.
My mother has always seemed content and happy at the Laurels visiting her it is evident that a high level of personal and medical care is provided. The staff are unfailingly helpful and kind. As a family member, this is very reassuring I would recommend the Laurels wholeheartedly.
My dad received excellent care in The Laurels, thank you for looking after him so well, especially at the time of his passing recently. It is well run, the staff are attentive and friendly, and we always found it clean and tidy when we visited. The food was good too; fresh and homemade.
The care and compassion given to my mum has been outstanding. All the staff are very friendly from the office right through to the cleaners. Mum has been very happy here.
Mam always seemed happy when we visited her. The staff were always polite and friendly to her and us. We can't thank you all enough for the care she was given.
If you need a nursing home look no further than The Laurels Nursing Home. It is well-led by the manager. All the staff keep updated and are very knowledgable. I felt they really knew my dad and were sensitive to his needs both physically and emotionally. As relatives, we were well supported by friendly helpful staff and felt part of a family. When dad died we were treated with dignity and sensitivity until the very end for which we are so grateful and always will be.
A lovely, happy and safe nursing home. The staff go above and beyond and are so caring and supportive, not only to the residents but also the visitors too. Nothing is too much. Beautiful gardens to relax in too. I know that my mother is well looked after and that she is safe and being cared for, what more could you wish for? Thank you to all staff at The Laurels.
I always found the staff very good and when I ask my friend he says the food is excellent. I have joined him in the lounge on occasion and enjoyed the entertainment. One negative, have to wait a long time at weekends to enter as no one hears the bell.
Mum has been a resident at The Laurels Nursing Home since December 2021 and has received great care. She is very happy there. The staff are great and always acknowledge me when I visit. I do feel the room could be in a slightly better decorative order.
My grandmother has been a resident for three years, especially during Covid the staff and residents became her family and to this day treat her with respect and kindness. When I visit with my children they spoil them and make a fuss which makes my nan especially happy. The staff create a happy and inclusive atmosphere, whilst ensuring their resident's care needs are met. As a family, we are so happy with Nan's care and do not worry if we are unable to visit.
