View Full Details of Eastbourne Gardens Care Home - Avery CollectionOur great friend had been a resident at Eastbourne Gardens for 9 years before his death this week. We cannot commend the staff highly enough for the care and compassion that was shown to him. His last months were difficult, not just for him, but for the staff as well. It was tiring work looking after him, but they enabled him to stay in the same room offering him highly personalised, loving and dignified care. We felt cared for too, and could come and go as we needed. which was very helpful towards the end. He was given care appropriate for his needs from relatively independent living when he moved in, to increased care and in -house activities , through to end of life. The staff at all levels are exceptional. Well trained, professional and committed to providing the best care they can adapted to the needs of each individual. They are the Eastbourne Gardens family and they provide a true home for their residents. Our grateful thanks to you all.
My sisters and I cannot say enough good things about Eastbourne Gardens Care Home. From the moment we arrived when visiting our aunt, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely care about the well-being of the residents. Whether it's the nurses, caregivers, or administrative team, everyone is professional, compassionate, and dedicated to providing the highest level of care. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and feels like a true home rather than an institution. The rooms are comfortable and bright and the communal spaces are beautifully designed. What truly stands out is the personalized care our aunt received. It's comforting to know that they are in good hands and being treated with dignity and respect. The food is delicious and caters to different dietary needs. This place truly sets a high standard for what a care home should be. Thank you.
My grandma's health took a turn for the worse and needed to be in a place with nursing 24 hours. I had heard about the excellent care as a friend's relative had been there and the moment I stepped into the home it felt like home. The manager and staff I met before making our decision were friendly understanding and cared about the situation we were in with our grandma. Her time there was only for a few months but the level of care was excellent she loved all the staff. They made me and my husband feel very welcome nothing was a problem for them. My grandma passed at the home and we were able to come and go when ever we wanted to. This made a difficult and very upsetting situation seem calm as there professionalism was brilliant she was cared for right to the end. This place will always have a special place in my heart.
My aunt has been living at Eastnourne Gardens for the past year until her recent passing. Every single one of the staff, especially her carers, have been absolutely brilliant - kind, caring and compassionate. Thank you so much for making what turned out to be her last year such a lovely one, we will be forever grateful.
Choosing a care home for a loved one is a responsibility one takes seriously and having looked at some others I immediately felt that Eastbourne Gardens would be the new perfect home for my cousin. On initially meeting the Client Liaison Manager this was confirmed and also by meeting the Manager and Head of Nursing who answered all the relevant questions in such a way that any concerns and worries disappeared. Now my cousin has been a resident for two weeks and absolutely loves her chosen room but more particularly the wonderful nursing, care, domestic staff and everyone who has entered her room. She has been very independent and I thought the transition might be difficult but not so because she feels so loved and cared for by everyone. We are so thankful we found Eastbourne Gardens and would not hesitate to invite others to visit and feel the care.
The manager and her wonderful team at Eastbourne Gardens have cared for my parents for a number of years. There have been several changes of ownership but the team have worked exceptionally hard to minimize the impact of this on residents. Avery unfortunately was not equipped to inherit the previous invoicing approach which was accurate and transparent. This has been disappointing but the Eastbourne Gardens team have done all they can to support query resolution. The management team have many years of experience between them and is always on hand if anything needs to be discussed. Every decision is made in the best interest of the resident. Care (including nursing care) is delivered in a professional but compassionate manner. When choosing a care home the existence of end-of-life care was important too. Unfortunately, we have recently had to go through that but the service was exemplary and Dad was where he wanted to be during that time with the Eastbourne Gardens family.
The care provided to my Mum at Eastbourne Gardens is second to none. The whole team have her best interests at heart. My Dad passed away in Easbourne Gardens in March and the support provided to Mum following his death has been exceptional. Mum is always telling me how lovely all the staff are. I would not hesitate to recommend Eastbourne Gardens.
This is my mother's third respite stay at Eastbourne Gardens. The leadership team were incredibly supportive as my mother required admission at very short notice due to her having been unwell. The amazing lengths the staff go to ensure my mother is made to feel so welcome, and safe and all her needs catered for is just simply incredible. All the staff are genuinely kind and compassionate and cannot do enough to ensure my mother feels at home and included in what feels like one amazing family. My mother is so happy and at ease and loves all the activities provided and the teams that love to chat with her. The facilities are wonderful and now my mother is considering moving into the home permanently. I would most certainly recommend Eastbourne Gardens.
My first impressions were excellent, as soon as you walked in, it's impressive, during the stay I had a good nose around the whole place and it was all first-rate. The reception was very welcoming and helpful, as was the managerial staff upon arriving and this continued throughout the stay. Staff to patient ratio and here it was very good. All of the many staff I met in the five weeks my mother was a resident in the dementia unit were exceptional, all were very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive not only to mum but to her visitors also. I truly felt they all were trying hard to make my mum's stay as good as it could possibly be. To all staff, well done and thank you.
Dad moved into Eastbourne Gardens in March 2023. Broadly speaking, he was happy enough there, and there are some lovely members of staff. However, the standards quickly declined, likely because of the takeover Avery Healthcare - which has led to unhappy staff, a constant rotation of agency staff, and rude and unhelpful management. There were constant issues with consistency of care - it was common for him to be forgotten entirely in the mornings - and mistakes were often made in his care and medication. On multiple occasions he would push his pendant alarm for help and no one would come. Once he fell out of bed and was lying on the floor for an hour before help came (something the care home themselves acknowledged). Management were incredibly unhelpful and downright unresponsive to me when raising queries with them, which is utterly unprofessional. I am staggered that they are still listed as 'outstanding' on the CQC.
My mother stayed at Eastbourne Gardens for recuperation and respite care for 3 weeks recently. This was to bridge between recent hospitalisation and a return to her apartment in an independent living complex. Her health improved considerably in her time at EGCH. She enjoyed many of the activities and found food to be very good. All the staff were friendly, professional and attentive.
Mum joined the care home in January as we were going on an extended holiday. She has enjoyed her visit so much that she has decided to stay! The welcome she received from everyone was great. The management team was so friendly and supportive, especially The client liaison manager who made the transition so easy. Mum wasn’t looking forward to moving into a ‘home’ but she has embraced life completely. The activities provided are amazing. Mum has enjoyed every celebration, listened to some wonderful performances, visited a preschool nursery, participated in many activities, and made her way onto their social media photos! I really can’t ask for more from the entertainment/activities team. The care team together with the nursing staff are magnificent and ensure that all the needs of the residents are met. Last but not least are the reception staff. They are so friendly and welcoming. I’ve worked in that environment and realized what a difference it makes. They do. Thank you to all.
The front of house and senior staff worked efficiently in a pleasing manner, welcoming newcomers in a way similar to the general decor. The care workers were excellent showing compassion and warmth uplifting every individual resident. All other individual groups of staff providing social well-being and laundry and clearing dining were quietly efficient and carried out their duties in an encouraging way. Medical presence by way of nurses was also excellent. The overall experience worked for my wife in her recovery and was memorable.
My wife, who has Alzheimer's, has now lived at Eastbourne Gardens for almost a year. Right from the start she has always seemed very happy, looked after with great affection and care by all the staff, and enjoying all the many various activities. So despite reservations beforehand about moving into a care home, she is now much better looked after and seems to enjoy life much more than she did at home.
For some years I have acted as POA for a family friend, a fiercely independent and thoughtful 97 year old. Over the last 7 weeks she has come to terms with failing health and no longer being able to live in her own home. She arrived at Eastbourne Gardens from hospital 6th February for respite care and this week said she wished to become a permanent resident. This decision has been emotional for her and the part played by the staff at Eastbourne Gardens caring for her whilst contemplating her future is not to be underestimated. From the moment she arrived, their patience in dealing with her, their attention to detail in assessing her individual needs, the professional standard of their care and the time taken in communicating with her has been exemplary. It was music to my ears last Tuesday when she asked me to mention the merits of a young carer to management whose help at mealtimes had been wonderful. A sure sign that this special elderly lady is settling in.
Since arriving here on 16th October my husband has received excellent care from all staff, and it is such a relief to me that he is now getting the correct treatment for his Alzheimer’s. In addition to seeing the GP, he has also spent an hour with the consultant for which I was present, so feel reassured that he is getting all possible medical assistance.
Eastbourne Garden Care home is excellent. From my first meeting with the wonderful client liaison manager, I felt understood and assured that the care home was the best place for my father with dementia. My family and I were treated with respect and empathy. Every visit was consistent. We were warmly greeted by kind and caring staff. The care home is very open and warm. It is wonderful you can visit at any time. The dementia nurses have been excellent in managing Dad's care and the whole team on the Reminiscence floor has been great. My father has put on weight and is eating well. Everyone is very experienced and respectful of his needs. Communication is good and it is a place that my children enjoy visiting to spend time with their grandfather. I reviewed several care homes in the area but the Eastbourne Garden Care home was significantly better.
The staff at the care home were excellent in providing personal care to my parents, kind, caring and friendly. The activities didn't always suit my parents, hence the lower score and they find it difficult not to be busy in the home as they are in their own home. Mostly food excellent, however, I heard some criticism.
My parents (92 and 97) had four weeks of respite. They were delighted with the care, friendliness and general attention they received from all members of staff. Dad didn't like people walking into their room however you could knock for 10 minutes and they wouldn't have heard! Foodway was hit and miss, some excellent mainly good but some poor, dependant on the chef on duty. Shame they decided to go home.
Respite (4 weeks). Everything is provided, no worries.
