View Full Details of Westerleigh Nursing HomeStaff are friendly and caring. The food is good, I can have food whenever I want it. I would recommend this home.
My mum was admitted for end-of-life care. She was a resident for just over 2 weeks until she passed. We met with the manager prior to admission where her needs, wishes and likes were discussed in depth. Throughout her short stay, the care, compassion and dignity shown to Mum was excellent. We were kept advised of her condition at all times. I would highly recommend this nursing home.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Westerleigh to anyone. The care and support they gave my father were excellent. The home was clean and tidy, and my father was very comfortable there. All the staff were extremely friendly and very professional.
Westerleigh cared for our Dad at a difficult time and I'm so glad we found them. They took time with the family and quickly got to understand Dad's needs and responded so well to his charms! They are one of the most friendly homes I have visited and they truly put the care back into 'care home', which can often be impersonal and clinical 'waiting rooms'. It is a home from home and the staff have been wonderful.
My parents lived together in Westerleigh for three years, and my mother for a further 13 months after my father's death. The care was exemplary, sensitive and respectful, and the end-of-life care for both my parents was touching and extremely attentive. Westerleigh isn't the swankiest of care homes, but the care staff are marvellous, the nursing care of a very high standard, and it's evident that the staff care a great deal for the residents. Minor miracles are worked in the kitchen on what must be a relatively restricted budget, and the activities team comes up with all sorts of ideas for keeping residents engaged and entertained. It was a comfort to know that both my parents were in such capable, professional and caring hands for their final years. Real interest is taken by the staff in both the residents' needs and their earlier lives and interests. It's always difficult seeing a loved one go into a home, but Westerleigh allayed any anxieties we had. Unhesitatingly recommended!
Both my parents resided here, mostly together, for quite some time (3+ years) and throughout the Covid epidemic. Throughout that time, it was very clear they were both genuinely cared for by all the staff. I came across many staff and I found all of them to be friendly, thoughtful, caring and professional. Sadly, both parents have now passed on, but I am utterly convinced they both received the best care possible. The home may not necessarily look great, especially compared to all the newly built ones. But the care that is given, even to the extended family, is first-rate.
My parents went into the care of Westerleigh in late 2019. The care that they have received has been wonderful. The staff ensure their individual needs are met, and they've been so kind to us all as a family. My father died five weeks ago. The staff in the run-up to his death were exceptional. They fed me and offered me a room to stay in so that I could spend the last few days with my dad, as I did not live locally. What I witnessed, (staying there for six whole days and nights) was how genuinely caring and kind the staff were. Their patience and kindness shone through, and they are all a testament to the care system. My mum continues in their care, and they have been absolutely wonderful with her after her husband of 62 years died. All credit to them all!
My mother spent the last couple of years at Westerleigh following a stroke. The staff always treated her with kindness, dignity and respect and mum came to think of them like family. I felt reassured that mum was in the best possible place as it is the staff that makes a place. During lockdown, we were kept informed and encouraged to drop off letters and chat over the 'phone. During the last couple of weeks of mum's life, we were allowed to visit at any time without restrictions. Again, the staff were lovely to the end and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to everyone at Westerleigh, the nurses, carers, cooks and cleaners for carrying out a difficult job with kindness and humour.
I felt I had to write this review as my father passed in January 2022 after spending 6+ years in the care of the staff of Westerleigh. I have always found the staff very professional and caring, nothing seems too much trouble, he was always spoken to and treated with dignity. The welcome my father received when he first took up residence in Westerleigh was excellent and continued until his passing. I have nothing but praise for all the staff for the compassionate care he received and would recommend this nursing home without hesitation.
I find the staff very friendly and helpful they cannot do enough for the residents even when the residents can't eat what they like the staff try to make it possible in other ways so they can enjoy what they like.
My mother has resided at Westerleigh for a year now and I have nothing but praise for the staff working there. She was admitted following a sudden deterioration in her condition and although we were at the beginning of the pandemic, the staff ensured a smooth transition from acute hospital into their care. Communication has always been excellent and their ability to adapt to how we continued to “see” Mum through this time, via a portal facility, has allowed us to keep in touch. Whenever I see Mum, she looks well cared for and she speaks highly of all the staff. As a nurse myself, I can recognise great care when I see it and feel very relieved to know that my mum is cared for so well.
My wife has been a resident in the nursing home for 15-months. She was given a very warm and friendly greeting on her arrival. I think this sets the character of the home. I consider the carers carry out the interaction with the residents with kindness and feeling for the residents. During normal times, activities and entertainment are thought up and carried out to involve the residents to engage and occupy their minds. The home is well managed and kept clean and tidy. During the recent difficult times, policies have been designed to ensure the safety of residents. I am sure staff have denied themselves meeting with only a few people outside the home in order to ensure the health of residents was the priority.
I was in respite after having COVID infection and I feel honoured to have been placed in Westerleigh Nursing Home. The staff and care were of a very high standard and would recommend this facility to all. The catering standard was that of a 3/5 star hotel and can find no fault with this.
Wonderful, caring, clean and comfortable. All staff treat residents in an individual, caring, gentle manner.
I cannot fault any member of staff and management with the kind and dignified care my father received during his stay at Westerleigh. Thank you all so much. I would highly recommend your service and dedication.
My family and I were very happy with the care my father received at Westerleigh. The staff were amazing and very professional. We would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home as it was always a nice place to visit and we were always made very welcome.
This is an exceptional nursing home with a wonderful dedicated team of staff under the Matron. The devoted, caring and professional care that my Mum received in her last eighteen months of her life was wonderful, together with the care and support the family also had. Thank you again Matron and all the lovely Westerleigh staff, you made a very difficult time so much easier.
The staff are always attentive and kind towards my mother. She is treated with dignity and affection. The activities team are always thinking of new and stimulating things for residents to take part in and always help those who are not so capable. The food is always varied and generous with tea, coffee and biscuits served regularly. Over I am happy with my mother's care at Westerleigh and she is happy to live there because she is treated as a very special person, (which she is).
