View Full Details of Highbury HouseMy husband was a resident there for 5 months on palliative and then end-of-life care. His room was beautiful and airy, he enjoyed the food and he felt very comfortable there. The staff is outstanding: caring, respectful, warm and professional. Cleaners, nurses, carers, cooks, social workers and maintenance and administration people were all very supportive at the most difficult time of my life. I will be forever grateful. For the last month of my husband's life, I practically lived there and they became my friends. Thank you to them.
Thank you for all the great care you took of my Dad you made him very comfortable and happy. Unfortunately, my dad passed away last Wednesday from pneumonia after a short time of illness so we were unable to do the things we planned. We as a family will be forever grateful for the care that you all gave so please let everyone know how much they are appreciated. Thank you and kind regards.
My father came to stay as he was unable to stay at his flat after having 2 broken hips in a year after falls and needed more care than we could give him, at 92 he came to Highbury house and the staff were absolutely amazing with him. The care they gave him couldn't have been better, they all gave him love and care as if he was their own family, he passed away recently so once again I would like to thank them.
Very pleased with the care Mum receives, her general health has improved since admission in January. Mum enjoys daily social activities and seems content. Mum needs a lot of care and encouragement and the staff are always cheerful.
We wanted to say my grandmother is receiving impeccable care in our opinion, we are impressed with how attentive and genuine all the staff are, they are well able to answer whatever question we might ask about her care. My grandmother enjoys the various activities and social life which the staff ensure she is part of (allowing for her advanced dementia). We are very happy.
Highbury House felt right as soon as I walked in. The staff were warm, welcoming and professional and were patient with my endless questions. The building is spotless and has a beautiful garden and there is a positive energy about the place. On the day of Mum's arrival, the staff all came to welcome her, making her feel very special. Her arrival was greeted with genuine interest and enthusiasm - like a long-lost family member visiting! They were also so kind to my dad and me as we were naturally apprehensive. On a daily basis, the staff were attentive and kind to Mum and also looked after my dad, who spent every day there. Nurses were quick to respond to her medical needs and we were always confident of the quality of her care. Mum spent just three weeks in the home as due to their care and attention, she made enough progress for us to care for her at home again. However, she will be likely to need residential care again in future and I would not hesitate to return. Thank you!
My mother stayed at Highbury House for end-of-life care. She had a nice room that led onto the garden and I was able to bring some of her things from home to put in her room and make it feel more familiar. Most importantly, I found the staff warm, friendly and genuinely caring. The nursing staff were excellent, made Mum comfortable and treated her with respect. Thank you all for your care and support through this difficult time.
The staff are friendly and supportive. The food is nutritious, and the activities are well thought out. The rooms are well-furnished and comfortable, and residents are able to access the well-kept garden in fine weather.
Very caring and compassionate staff always willing to help. Any minor problems are sorted quickly and effectively. A good choice of menu and regular refreshments. Effective stimulation through music and word games.

My partner has been in Highbury House since September and he seems very happy and comfortable. I find the place nice and clean. All the staff are always very pleasant and go out of their way to make visitors feel welcome.
My mum needed special care with the onset of a terminal cancer. Highbury House offered the special care, attention and thoughtfulness we wanted for my mum. The facilities are spotless, meals great, lovely garden, attentive caring staff and enjoyable activities through the brilliant activities staff. No one could have wanted more. My mum always felt safe and secure. My mum really, genuinely wanted to be there and it proved an excellent choice.
My husband has been a resident for over three years and is very happy and contented, with all the care he has received, and the food provided. The activities ie. quizzes, music and competitions are helpful for his memory and condition and I would have no hesitation when I can no longer look after myself to move into the home myself.
The care and help that my mother has had since she moved to Highbury House has been wonderful. All the staff are caring and considerate to all the residents and they are a dedicated team. They are great at keeping the residents occupied and his daily chats and entertainment of great benefit to, and appreciated by my mother.
We have been so impressed with all of the staff and care provided to my mother since she moved to Highbury House in March. The care attention has been amazing and everyone has welcomed and ensured she has settled in. Thanks to the staff, too many to name.
My mother stayed in this care home for over 5 years, from January 2017 - May 2021. On the whole, her care was very good. The staff were very kind and compassionate, however, in my opinion, Highbury House is understaffed, meaning the carers were literally running from one job to the next most of the time. Occasionally I would have appreciated better communication about my Mum's medical condition from the nurses, but again I could see they were pushed for time. Entertainments for the home were done on the cheap, such as staff members' friends and relatives coming in to sing and dance. Cleaning is not completely thorough - I often had to get a cloth to scrub my Mum's table of dried-on food. Again I would not in any way blame the staff, who are probably low-paid and overworked. I would blame the owners who no doubt cream off a large profit from residents money for their care. A little bit of online research on my part showed the Director to be a millionaire from Eastbourne. Enough said.
My mum came to Highbury in July 2018 following a spell in hospital after a fall at home. Mum was shy and wary about moving to a home but was made to feel welcome and cared for from the moment she arrived. Very quickly, my sister and I could see mum had settled in and was even taking part in every activity, something we had tried unsuccessfully to do for years! Every member of the team from the kitchen, office, caregivers and support staff were so friendly and caring, mum never felt uncared for and would often say she could have a good "laff" with everyone. She had a garden view room with squirrels visiting daily for monkey nuts and birds which mum loved to watch. Mum went to sleep with a nurse by her side until my sister and I arrived so was never alone, passing on soon after we arrived. We and our family will never forget the love and care shown to us and to our mum, for which we will be forever grateful. You are truly beautiful people with huge hearts. Thank you.
I live in Belfast, and my brother is nearing end of life at Highbury House Brighton. I cross every weekend from Friday to Monday. It is clear the nursing care is exceptional. The care and consideration are second to none. If I were in the same position, I would like to stay my final days surrounded by dedicated staff working tirelessly for the benefit of their residents.
I was very fortunate to move my dad from hospital into Highbury House for his end of days. He had the most beautiful room, overlooking the lovely walled garden. I can honestly say, everyone who works in the home is beyond kind. They are a wonderful dedicated team, who give reassurance and empathy when it is needed the most. It is most unique, in the compassion shown and care given. I know my dad felt very happy to be there and I can’t thank you enough.
My mum had seven goods years at Highbury House and the care, understanding and upbeat outlook from all of the staff was second to none. Thank you so much.
