View Full Details of Berkeley Lodge Nursing HomeMy husband has been at Berkeley Lodge Nursing Home since October 2024 and so far, I am very impressed with his care. He is treated with respect and dignity. The staff are very patient, supportive and professional. The place is clean and the food very good. An establishment runs smoothly if it is led by a capable management team and I can't praise the manager enough - she is professional and always has time for the family - an asset to Berkeley Lodge.
My mum and stepfather have been at Berkeley Lodge Nursing Home for almost a year now. They both have very different needs. Mum found it hard to settle down at first but the staff and management have been wonderful. Using different techniques and working with me to help her. All the staff are lovely and caring. The home is very clean and they both have lovely rooms. They have their own activities staff and Mum has been encouraged to join in. She has enjoyed this much to my surprise. They are very well looked after. I live in France, so have found it difficult, but the staff have always been on hand to help and support me. It is all the little things they do that mean so much. I was lucky to find Berkeley Lodge and even luckier to find a home that would take them both together. Thank you.
My wife has been in Berkeley Lodge Nursing Home for over six years. There has been inevitable changes in staff during this time, but I have always found management and staff thoroughly professional, businesslike and friendly. My wife has been cared for extremely well, during this lengthy time. An example very recently, was that my wife suddenly deteriorated, in the middle of the night. Her condition was evaluated by the duty nurse, and stabilized. The nurse phoned me and explained what had occurred and how it had been dealt with, to my entire satisfaction. First thing, the following morning, the manager, recently appointed, phoned me and updated me on what the Doctor had reported to her. Everything very efficient as one would expect from a top class Nursing Home. My wife has recovered to some degree and continues to receive excellent care.
My mum has severe dementia and is unable to communicate. The staff have treated her with unfailing kindness for a long time and have been excellent in communicating with my sister and me.
My first impression was the cleanliness, friendly atmosphere. Helpful reception and staff. Shown around the home and informing of the different staff, i.e. chef, welfare etc. My mum has only just arrived from hospital after breaking her hip from a fall. My mum is not an individual who enjoys joining in and is far more content to remain in her room. I'm hoping, in time, she will become more interested in making friends.
After one year, my wife has received first-class service from all excellent staff in purpose-built, spacious accommodations with many communal areas. From research of other homes, Berkeley Lodge is recommended and is excellent value for money.
Berkeley Lodge is a lovely home. My mother has settled in okay. The manager and staff are all very kind, helpful and supportive and friendly.
My father has been in Berkeley Lodge since February. He is lovingly cared for by the team. Although he is sometimes reluctant to join in with activities, the staff have encouraged him to join in with things that he has not participated in for several years (e.g. painting and choir). It was a very difficult decision for us, as a family, to make to place him in a care home, but we really had no alternative. We feel that this is the best we can do and are relieved that he is in a lovely home where he is well cared for and treated with kindness and respect.
My father has been looked after by Berkeley Lodge for the past couple of months. He is a type 1 diabetic and loves his food. The nurses look after his diabetes so well and keep it under control as best as they can. He came with a pressure ulcer, which they dress most days due to its severity. The staff are friendly and caring and look after him with dignity. Due to his poor eyesight, he is assisted to eat. It would be lovely to have more activities available for those who are almost blind, is my only thought.
Staff are always friendly and caring, from tea staff to all carers.
Really nice staff and management. Excellent care for all residents.
Dad's dementia means that his mod and ability change several times within the same day. At his age, he has other health-related conditions which the staff cope with in a very caring and understanding way, I'm delighted with the way in which he is looked after.
We are very pleased with the assistance and care all the staff at Berkeley Lodge have given. Right from the start they have made sure our dear cousin has been settled and happy in her new home. There have been regular updates made and action taken if any changes are required. When visiting there is a smile from all the caring and friendly staff.
The staff are always friendly - admin, nursing and cleaning.
My husband settled in immediately when he arrived at the home thanks to the friendly and caring staff. The home is always clean and the food is good but the most important thing is the kind, efficient and helpful staff. I have been most impressed.
Within 24 hours of moving my mother into Berkeley Lodge, she was a different person. Drugs were reduced substantially, her dignity reintroduced instantly, freedom to move around the home safely was immediate. The whole team transformed our mother’s life, health and well-being before our eyes. The staffing team, across the board, are kind and loving; they are tactile, so Mum feels loved. They respond to her needs with compassion and respect her for who she is. Her care plan is very personal whilst on this dementia journey. Mum makes choices and is now so clean and showered every day. She is made to feel special and individual. The home and garden are beautiful, and the food is wonderful. Mum can breathe and be herself with a new sense of freedom. There is never a fuss - staff are calm and positive with many strategies. They are true professionals. It is a joy for us as a family to have Mum at Berkeley Lodge.
Since my mother was moved to Berkeley Lodge a year ago her care has been outstanding. Staff are kind, compassionate and show extraordinary levels of patience. The manager has kept us informed of changes to my mother's needs and has worked hard to ensure that the family is supported as much as the resident.
The day-to-day staff here are truly angels in human form. Unfortunately, I feel that they are let down by their management. My father was assaulted in his bed by other residents and subsequently hospitalised. I requested (repeatedly) the Director's investigate the incident and provide a comprehensive report into the incident. The outcome of an investigation has not been forthcoming (from SCNH) and to absolutely aggravate the situation at such an awful time for us, the Director I approached has 'dismissed' my requests for information and refuses to engage. I really think the care staff are absolutely exceptional and can't praise them highly enough, but the behaviour of the Director(s) completely undermines this and absolutely causes pain at a particularly horrible time in our lives.
My mother has settled down extremely well since her discharge from hospital. Before that, she was living on her own and with dementia and other illnesses and it was necessary for her to receive constant medical care. I am confident she is now receiving this care at Berkeley Lodge. There has been a remarkable improvement in her general well-being since her arrival in May this year. The staff are caring and friendly. The food l am told by my mother is excellent. She has made friends with other residents and is a lot happier than before her arrival at Berkeley Lodge. There have been no problems in telephoning or visiting my mother during this covid epidemic. The staff are following all the guidelines imposed by the government.
I am very pleased that Mum managed to be accepted into Berkeley Lodge after suffering a severe stroke last September. The superb care and attention she has received has enabled her to celebrate her 100th birthday in January against the odds, and I am sure contributed to an amazing recovery of her speech capability, so that now visits are even more rewarding. The staff at the home are so professional and caring, especially throughout the exceptionally testing times they have endured. I cannot thank them all enough for looking after Mum so well, who is always smiling and happy when I visit.
