My husband has been a resident at Birchwood Grove Care Home for three years. There is always a warm welcome and the home has a positive, friendly and family atmosphere. The longevity of staff is amazing; always the same familiar, reassuring, caring staff. The home is spotlessly clean, the care whether medical, nursing or wellbeing is excellent. Good food is abundant and everyone enjoys the activities and frequent live entertainment. I have a huge respect and gratitude for all the wonderful people who look after my husband in Birchwood Grove. He is extremely happy and well cared for.
The team at Birchwood Grove Care home genuinely care about the residents and seem especially able to cope with those with the most complex needs. Knowing when to stand back, when to encourage, when to give space, when to change the subject. They are able to cope with scenarios that seem unbearable. I really can't praise them highly enough.
The home is amazing, warm, clean, it helps mum in every way possible with respect. To be honest, I wouldn't mind living there!! The staff are very polite, friendly, professional, helpful and if I ask any questions, they always answer straight away. Every time I arrive,I always get asked if I want a drink, so, thank you for that, going out of their busy day to offer me that. Also, they always have a smile. I don't know how they do it, but hats of too them
My mum has settled in so well to her new home. We can see how much care and kindness she is given by all the staff. There is a calming, relaxing presence. We feel our Mum is being very well supported and taken care of. If we have any questions there is always Staff on hand to respond.
My father is respected and valued as an individual. There is efficient communication between us, the family and the staff. They kept us updated on how my father was settling in. The home is clean and well maintained. The staff are welcoming. Would like to see more engaging activities to keep residents physically and mentally active, as well as accessing the local community. A second food option on the menu.
Whilst I have attended Birchwood at different times of the day, I have always found it to be a clean, vibrant and engaging environment for residents. I have seen first hand the gentle, compassionate nature of all the staff. They are patient and encouraging with my dad and always make time to greet me and offer refreshments. I was hyper wary of placing Dad in residential care and did my homework. I am so glad as is he, that we found Birchwood. 10/10!
My fiercely independent Grandmother had to leave her flat in December 2023. Due to deteriorating health etc. and after a hospital stay it was decided that more care was needed. I did not expect to end up with such a caring home. The staff are friendly and helpful, always an offer of a drink and sometimes a slice of cake. The atmosphere at Birchwood is pleasant and conducive to calm. The place is clean and tidy and residents are well looked after with good activities to occupy them. Nan enjoyed the summer BBQ. Nan had been placed on End of Life Care. She was quite poorly and had not been eating well, but put on weight within her first month at Birchwood. The food on offer is amazing and the staff always cater to the resident and make sure that they can eat what they like. Nan seemed healthier and regained her colour and voice. Nan passed away peacefully at 97. I cannot fault the staff, everything was dealt with care and respect. I only wish I had more space to praise Birchwood Grove.
My father has been in Birchwood Grove Care Home for the past 6 years. He is very happy there. The staff are very good with him and are always looking at ways to make him comfortable. We are always made welcome when we visit. The home is always clean and tidy.
Lovely, caring and well trained staff. Reception, halls, communal areas and bedrooms always clean and tidy. Every time I visit, every member of staff are welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend Birchwood Grove Care Home.
Very comfortable rooms and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The management are very helpful and supportive and my mother seems comfortable.
I've always received a warm welcome from all the team. The care and dedication of the team are clearly visible and overwhelming to the difference in my mother's mental health and well-being. We're so very grateful to the team, as a family having to make the life-changing decision of moving to full-time residential care, we couldn't have received better support and care. Thank you for your continued kindness and care.
Dad has been at Birchwood Grove Care Home for the last 9 months. Ultimately we didn't have a choice where he went, but from the very beginning, I would not change his placement. With 3 days' notice of his move from hospital, they welcomed my same-day request to visit before his move. It may not be the most modern building but it felt welcoming, warm and not intimidating. Dad settled very quickly and although he has now been diagnosed with dementia, he is comfortable, well cared for and happy to be there. Staff have a smile on their face and understand his needs. I would be happy to recommend Birchwood Grove.
My mum has been in your care for nearly 4 months now, she has dementia and the staff are absolutely amazing, the lady on the door is so caring. My mum has put on weight she never stops eating and drinking, the staff in the kitchen make amazing dinners and cakes. I visit my mum as much as I can. There’s always music playing. I just would like to say you all do an amazing job and for looking after my beautiful mum thank you from the bottom of my heart xxx
We find the administrator very helpful on visits and phone calls to arrange visits. I do find given very little input on mum by carers and senior carers. Always made welcome by the activities coordinator and offered a drink. It has been difficult visiting during Covid, the home has been very good with testing and making everybody safe.
This was my first visit. I had already been impressed by the friendliness of the staff when I phoned and had even been able to speak to my cousin on one occasion. It was great to now see her so contact, albeit bewildered by events. There was plenty of staff who were all watchful and attentive to residents. One made us a cup of tea. There was a warm family feel although most residents seemed poorly. All looked clean and well cared for.
Lovely home, living area nice, beautiful garden and garden room. The staff are very loving and friendly. The standard of care is excellent. Dad enjoys the meals and is very happy. I would definitely recommend.
I visited my nan in early July 2021 and was so pleased I did. After a bad fall in another home and a long stay in hospital, it was amazing to see my nan so happy and engaged. The general manager was able to give us a full rundown of my Nan and how she has been since she arrived. All of the staff were caring and the residents are all very well looked after. The activities are aimed at including all residents. We took my nan for a walk and a member of staff was more than happy to help with pushing the wheelchair. Nan was well presented and she has her hair and nails done each week. It was especially nice to be able to sit in the garden with her. I love that despite Birchwood being a care home it has such a homely feel. There was no clinical smell like in some care homes. Everywhere was very clean, tidy and really well decorated. My nan's room was lovely and the staff had put up pictures of family and drawings from nans grandchildren.
Mum is being very well looked after. Staff are thoughtful and caring towards mum. Mum enjoys the activities provided by the home. While visiting mum I noted that all the resident's individual needs and interests are catered for. The activities provided are wide and varied. They deal with mums occasional challenging behaviour with an understanding sympathetic approach. All the relevant agencies are involved with mum and the home provide the family with regular updates and encourage us to speak to all the professionals treating her. We are encouraged and welcomed to visit, FaceTime and communicate in whatever way we wish to. The nursing home staff work very much as a team and are most welcoming to family visitors. The structures and routines are well planned. The building and home environment are well maintained and feels homely. We feel that mum is in safe and caring hands.
My Godmother was very poorly when she came to the home. She had various health problems and had lost a lot of weight and become very fragile. She received a huge welcome from all the staff on her arrival and the family was regularly kept up to date on her progress throughout her stay at Birchwood. The home had the difficult task of keeping the home Covid free during her stay. I have to say what a brilliant job they have done in maintaining Covid free during these awful times. Thank you all for the care and attention my Godmother received during her stay here.
