View Full Details of Darlington CourtMy mother-law has been resident at Darlington court for six months. I have found that everyone there has always been very helpful and kind and the carers go above and beyond to look after residents. I have noticed that in some of the reviews some people have mentioned the delay in responding to the help button, I must say that I agree and this is one of the few negatives that I have about Darlington court. I must say that the way they help residents to get involved every day with activities is amazing. The only other small negative is that my mother-in-law has complained about was that the meals were sometimes cold.
I am so grateful to Darlington Court for taking mum in and giving her some much needed respite after a horrible time in hospital. The staff have all been so kind, friendly and professional. The facilities and activities are excellent and it is a lovely environment. At a time when our world has been turned upside down due to mum's sudden deterioration, Darlington Court have provided much-needed support, comfort and reassurance.
My wife has been at Darlington Court since November 2024. She fractured her hip in August 2024 and although she was operated on she hasn't recovered her ability to walk safely, this combined with her mental health meant that I was no longer able to look after her at home. After looking at a number of care homes I decided on Darlington Court as they could best meet her needs. Since she has been there I have realised that she is much safer and better looked after than anywhere else. The staff are excellent, wherever their roles, they are welcoming and professional, caring and supportive of both my wife and myself. I try to go in every day and each time I receive an update on my wife's situation. The food that is served is of an excellent quality and, if it is lunchtime, I'm always offered some. When not eating or sleeping there are daily activities and the staff make great efforts to help and encourage the residents to take part and enjoy all aspects of life. All in all a super place.
I am reviewing Darlington Court after my mum's two week respite stay. All staff appeared to be very caring and tried to involve the residents in all the many activities they put on. I would particularly mention three members of staff who I often saw on my visits into the home and who really tried to engage mum and others. Tea, coffee and cake seemed plentiful and mum told me the meals were very good. Mum's needs seemed to be accommodated and I know she was popped in the TV room to watch her favourite game show daily. This was mum's first ever stay and all my fears disappeared on my first visit, when I saw mum smiling with the other residents. The home has recently undergone redecoration and looked bright and inviting and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending a visit by those thinking about using Darlington's services.
My brother has been a resident at Darlington for three months now and feels very settled and mostly happy. The staff are very patient and caring even to the extent of doing 'too much' instead of encouraging him to do things for himself. I agree that sometimes the help button takes a while to be answered but this is usually due to the staff attending other residents or busy in other areas. The staff have been very good at managing my brother's medication and always available to answer our questions about his health. The food is good and plentiful!
My review is general, over a period of several months, when I have visited my friend every week. The staff are always friendly and usually willing to engage in sorting out problems. However, there are consistent problems which indicate a less than satisfactory care environment. For example, when my friend tells me he wants to go to the toilet the call button is not answered on many occasions, even when I have gone to the nurse's station to ask for assistance. The care staff are very nice but just walk into my friend's room without knocking. Maintenance takes a long time to be actioned for example repairing a failed door closure and fixing a picture on the wall.
My father-in-law has been at Darlington Court for six months. We have been very happy with the care and support given to him during his time there. He joined in all of the activities and the staff support has been invaluable. He has now left to join his wife in her care home and hopefully will be as happy. Many thanks to all of the staff at Darlington Court.
Amazing staff, can not praise them enough. They were so helpful when I was moving my dad to Darlington Court. As a result, my dad settled in really well and has made a real improvement since he has been there.
Mum needed respite care and rehab after a bad bout of shingles which led to her being hospitalised. I and my brother are delighted with the friendly, professional, caring environment and staff who, without exception, handle Mum and other residents with care, patience and dignity in a safe environment. The food is well prepared and creative for small appetites. Mum is settling in, making friends and engaging with the activities. We are very grateful to all concerned.
The choice of nursing home for a loved one is never easy but the staff at Darlington Court made Mum's transition very easy. The level of care is very good and the facilities are excellent, the staff are particularly kind and helpful, nothing seems too much trouble. Mum has never complained about anything. We recommend Darlington Court without hesitation.
Since my mother has been at Darlington Court she has received excellent care. The place has a lovely feel and Mum has been warmly accepted as one of the Darlington Court family. We couldn’t have wished for a better place, and Mum is being well looked after by the whole team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Darlington Court for their continued hard work in helping my mum to feel more settled. Thank you so much!
My mother has just joined the residents at Darlington Court. She seems to have settled well. There are lots of activities going on and she is taking part in some of them. The app to tell us what she has been doing is great and gives us something to talk about with her and it is lovely to see the regular update of pictures on the social media page. The staff have been very helpful as Mum settles in.
The staff team at the care home have been most helpful and caring, not only to my mother who is the resident but to the whole of our family when visiting. We have been made to feel comfortable and welcome, a member of staff is always on hand to talk to. They communicate well and understand this is a new experience for the whole family reassuring us and keeping us updated. The care home itself is always clean, light and airy creating a welcoming atmosphere.
We have to go away quite frequently and feel very comfortable leaving Mum in the hands of the staff at Darlington Court. She is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's but is still treated with dignity and compassion by the nurses and carers. They have tried to include her in various activities but she becomes too distressed when leaving her room, so they have found alternative methods of stimulation and engagement. The recent Covid outbreak was handled professionally and with minimum disruption. All the staff are friendly and approachable and have generally been able to answer any questions. The admission and financial policies were clearly explained and any issues were dealt with by the appropriate staff quickly. Mum is usually clean and tidy when we visit and she feels safe in her room. We are full of admiration for the care workers at the home, who are doing a very difficult and vital job!
My mother is being very well looked after at Darlington Court. The staff do a good job and some of them go above and beyond to provide excellent care and support. Mum seems to be more and more settled in her new home as each month passes. We appreciate the various lounges and communal rooms where you can spend time with your loved one in a pleasant, clean setting while having tea and coffee or even lunch together.
My dad moved into Darlington Court in May last year and I’m very happy with his care. The staff are lovely, they know him and are kind and considerate and helpful. He has a nice room which he’s happy with and he makes good use of the communal spaces as well. There is a daily schedule of activities and I’m grateful that he gets considerably more stimulation and social interaction than before he moved in. I don’t live locally so it’s very reassuring to know he is well cared for. The home also uses an app to log activities he’s taken part in and they regularly post photos on their social media page so I can see what he’s been doing despite not being local to him. They also keep me informed of his health and any issues he has and do so promptly.
My father has been a resident at Darlington Court for six months. All the staff are great with him and nothing is ever too much effort. Everyone is very welcoming when we visit and we know that we can speak to the staff at any time. My father is very comfortable and at ease at Darlington Court.
Really enjoy my visits to Darlington Court. The staff are very cheerful and friendly. All of the residents look lovely, very relaxed and very well looked after at all times.
My friend was admitted to Darlington Court approximately a year ago. She was in quite a bad way, but having seen her over the last year, she has not only improved with her health but in her mental spirit as well. She can be quite difficult and stubborn, but the staff/carers treat her with respect and dignity. The staff from reception and up are always welcoming and fun to meet. If I had a relative needing care, I would certainly recommend Darlington Court.
Sadly my Mother only had a very short stay in Darlington Court I really wish that it had been longer all of the staff were amazing, very friendly and could not do enough for us, it was as if they had known my Mother and all her family for years. The home and rooms were very clean and modern and homely which was lovely. I would highly recommend Darlington Court.
