View Full Details of Hillside LodgeBetween January 20th 2023 and January 1st 2025 my beloved oldest sister lived at Hillside Lodge. She was on the sun-lit top floor (yes - the whole roof is skylights - a brilliant design!) which provides specialized, compassionate dementia care. She was initially disoriented but staff were so patient and kind. I live in the USA so particularly appreciated knowing I could call or email and get responses quickly. As a former professional cook she loved the meals! This is a huge compliment to Hillside since, as her other senses (hearing and eyesight) dwindled, my sister retained a great deal of joy in a good hot meal. Even though she had a diagnosis of Alzheimer's (among other issues) her quality of life actually improved once she was under the Hillside care team. She began to enjoy her regular hair appointments and her near constant vertigo and anxiety gradually melted away. There is no place we would rather have had for my sister's last chapter. Thank you Hillside!
Having witnessed the standards of another care home (beyond awful) and moved my next-of-kin to Hillside I cannot express how grateful I am and how wonderful I think the home is. They have a team of dedicated, professional, kind and caring staff. They keep on top of everything, whether it is the laundry, cleaning or maintenance. The food is also excellent. The home is spacious, airy, bright and has a real "feel-good" atmosphere. The bedrooms are lovely with large, modern adjoining bathrooms. I feel the residents are treated very well and given as much freedom as possible. They are given choices as opposed to being told what to do. I do not feel my next-of-kin could be in a better place and I am very, very happy he is at Hillside.
My parents are very happy here. All the staff are extremely friendly and always there to help with any concerns. The meals are very good and always a good choice. My Mum needs much more care now and the staff are always at hand to help her with whatever she needs, and always very caring. We are always made to feel welcome by the staff when we go to visit.
The staff are very helpful. They have made myself and my mum so welcome. If I need advice or help, they are always ready to help. Very happy place. I would be happy to recommend the home.
I cannot speak highly enough of Hillside Lodge. My mother has had to go into care, and it's not something she was happy about at all. The staff in Hillside Lodge have been superb in managing this situation- they are very skilled and professional. The care home is spotless and it has a lovely garden. None of us know if we will have to go into care as we get older - if I had to I would choose Hillside Lodge.
My mother was a resident at Hillside Lodge in Pulborough for just over 7 months until she passed away. During that time myself and my brother visited many times so built up a very positive relationship with the team there. They were, without fail, cheerful, welcoming and keen to update us on our mothers' health and well-being. Although mostly bed-bound my mother was very happy and comfortable at Hillside. They got to know her likes and dislikes and towards the end of her life went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and pain-free. She passed away very peacefully which is all you can hope for.
Always welcomed by friendly staff who always offered compassion, time and care even during the hard times your care never faltered at all, you truly went above and beyond your duty of call. You made her life worthwhile and kept her spirits high until the end, you offered a safe and happy home that means everything. Everyone is always full of smiles and kindness and words are not enough but we really appreciate the love and care given to our beloved friend!
Our mother has been at Hillside Lodge for almost 2 years. We have the comfort of knowing that she is well looked after, and that we can visit at any time. The staff are professional, friendly and very approachable.
My husband has been at Hillside for almost 4 years in November. The staff are very good to me as well as my husband. I see him almost every day. He treats it as his him and in fact, he is better now than he was at home. We use the garden if the weather is ok. When the time is right I would like to be in Hillside with him.
In a couple of months, my mother will have been at Hillside for almost four years. It always seems like a homely place when I visit, always made to feel welcome and offered a drink on occasion. The staff always busy but only because they are attending to a resident's needs. I can always ring up to let staff know when I am visiting my mother just so she is ready and if they aren't available they will ring back. I am kept in touch with everything that happens either by phone or messages i.e. when Mum's had her hair done, special activities that are happening. I am so pleased we were offered Hillside 4 years ago where Mum couldn't be looked after any better.
I know my husband is well-looked after at Hillside Lodge. Unfortunately, I can't care for him at home any more, due to his health needs and it was affecting my own health. My husband is constantly monitored and it gives me great comfort knowing that he is safe. The staff are very kind and caring and always greet me when I arrive to see my husband.
Mum lives at Hillside Lodge Care Home and visiting her recently I found her to be relaxed and happy sitting in the dayroom. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and do provide a good level of care. Empathy is often shown whilst giving attention to detail by Staff, towards residents and relatives. I do not live locally and so when I do visit, the staff provide Mum and I the opportunity to have time alone which I feel provides quality time for Mum and I. Mum does enjoy having her hair done by the regular hairdresser at Hillside. Mum has said the food is very good too at Hillside. Mum is not so keen on taking part in activities but I am aware that there are activities available for the residents. I feel that I am supported by the staff at Hillside Lodge. They are always available to talk to if I need to discuss any matters. I feel reassured and relaxed about Mum's care/environment when leaving Hillside.
I always find the staff at Hillside very caring and helpful to my dad and also to me. They keep me informed of his care needs and anything they are doing to make him feel comfortable. They are always very friendly and supportive.
My mum has been in the care home some time now and I admire how the staff look after her. They are so patient and kind she is always clean and well cared for. I couldn’t wish for better care. My mum is treated as an individual person and the needs she requires.
My husband has been in the home since November 2022 and is now not at all able to talk or do anything for himself, the staff and everybody involved with his care have been wonderful. He is so well looked after that we could not wish for anything better it is a terrible time in my life and the rest of the family I could not cope without the help and care of the home it makes my life liveable. And thank you all.
My mother has been a resident in the dementia unit at Hillside for over 3 years now. The staff are always aware of her needs and give her care and attention. I am kept informed if there is anything that changes in her health and well-being.
Mum was recently moved back up to nursing care at the home, she was in a very sorry state after having spent some time in hospital, but she is back to her old self again after the care the nurses and home have given her. We are very happy with the care she gets and has received over the past from Hillside and as a family cannot thank them enough. That's from the office staff, cleaner, lady that does the washing etc the nursing card and the front-line carers.
Mum moved into Hillside Lodge at the beginning of September. It was a very tough transition for me, and the staff have been so supportive, understanding, and kind. I am so grateful for all that the staff do. Mum says she is being well looked after.
My mother-in-law moved from the hospital to Hillside Lodge in June and I cannot speak highly enough of the care and support she has been lucky enough to find at this remarkable home. The staff are never irritable or short, they have all the time and patience and most importantly are so cheerful. The facilities provided are amazing including the hairdresser and chiropodist visits. I hope I end up there should I need to in 20ish years.
A single elderly lady for whom I have a power of attorney moved into Hillside following a bad fall and stroke which left her with very limited mobility. From the first contact through to the day when my friend passed away, care was excellent. All staff were friendly and extremely positive both to the resident and myself as carer. Specific support, meals, entertainment and outings were all of the highest possible standard. I always felt well briefed on concerns, achievements and perceived needs for contact with the doctor or any other service provider. The hairdressing provision and garden were always given a mention but so was the fact that "care was very good".
