View Full Details of Derwent LodgeMy father spent the last 2 years of his life at Derwent Lodge. His accommodation was light, bright and spacious and his meals were always delicious. The team who took care of my dad were wonderful, always showing great care, respect, kindness and love for him. We felt extremely lucky that he was placed there and will be always be thankful for the care he received right up until he died there.
My aunt lived at Derwent Lodge from January 2024, until November 2024. It meant so much to me, to be able to move her from London, so that I could see her daily. The team at Derwent Lodge treated my aunt with compassion and dignity whilst under their care, I couldn't have asked for any more. I'm particularly grateful to one staff member in particular, who developed a special bond with my aunt. She always had her best interests at heart and my aunt was particularly fond of her. There's so many people that I'd like to thank, who not only cared for my aunt, but made my family and I, feel so welcome. In particular I would like to recognise 4 staff members in particular for the care, compassion and humanity they showed my aunt, myself and my family, they truly are a credit to Derwent Lodge. I'd also like to mention 3 staff members in particular, for their cheerfulness and support.
Both management and carers are great. My husband has been very ill recently so last week I spent all day and every day sitting with him. The staff were exceptional both for my husband and myself. They made sure I was looked after and given a meal each day. I can't fault them all the nurses are great.
I have found all carers to be good and nursing is excellent.
Lovely attentive staff, who are always friendly. My mother is happy and content where she is now. Dementia is a terrible disease and the team at Derwent manage this with the resident's dignity at the forefront.
Mum has been living with dementia for a while. After a short stay in hospital, we knew it was time for Mum to go into care. It is not easy when a loved one needs to go into permanent care. When we visited Derwent Lodge, I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a team of caring and dedicated staff doing their best. Mum is not always easy to deal with, but the staff at Derwent Lodge have been great. Keep up the good work, and thank you.
Excellent care and such a friendly team of carers. My father has been very well cared for and has been made to feel very much at home. Nothing is too much trouble, and his individual needs have been met.
Mum got transferred to Derwent Lodge after a long time in hospital with Dementia/Frailty and was unable to return home. While the first week was naturally unsettling for her, she has since made good progress, and I can see the improvement that has been achieved by the care and support of the staff involved. While my mum has a number of difficulties, I can see she is in a better space than she was prior to the beginning of the year.
My dear Mum had dementia and mobility issues. The team at Derwent Lodge - were unbelievably compassionate, thoughtful and sensitive. Mum went to Derwent Lodge at the end of her life. I will forever be grateful for the way the team cared for her and put her comfort first. And they always had time for me and my Dad when we had questions or simply felt overwhelmed. They were simply amazing.
I couldn't ask for better care for my Father at Derwent Lodge. The staff are caring and cannot do enough for him. They are approachable and always keep me informed of any progress, changes, medication, visits by healthcare professionals and activities. You can just see when visiting, that all the staff are passionate and very professional in their duties and respect other staff and residents. My dad has settled exceptionally well and has been made to feel welcome and they always respect his dignity. I cannot praise Derwent Lodge enough for all they do.
The care my father received at Derwent Lodge was excellent and could not be faulted. Staff all got to know Dad well and cared for his individual needs. The manager was always friendly and willing to speak to me and my family when we came to visit. Another staff member was particularly lovely with the residents and I know my dad was fond of her. We were kept informed of any issues and regularly updated. My only complaint is with the decoration, especially the carpets. The pattern is too busy and it often smelt of urine the last few times I visited. Choosing a home to trust to look after a family member is always difficult but in this instance I know we made to correct choice. Thanks to all of the staff.
My husband was discharged into this care home from hospital following a TIA. He has severe Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinson's. The care home have been excellent in helping him settle in despite several falls requiring medical attention. The staff are all lovely. My only complaint is recently the home has smelt of urine.
Overall, amazing and friendly staff, staff always trying to take time with the residents which is hard because they all have different needs and personalities. Home is always clean and tidy. A wonderful care home where you know you don't have to worry about the care of your loved one as you know that they are in capable and caring hands
Amazing caring staff and management at Derwent Lodge. They make me feel like my mother is being looked after extremely well and her care needs are always being reviewed and met. Great communication with family members.
After a recent visit to Derwent Lodge my wife and I visited her father just before Christmas and to be honest, not impressed! His toilet was dirty, clearly not cleaned for several days, a strong smell of urine in his room, PAT test stickers on his appliances were out of date one not updated since 2018. Resident alarms left for 15 minutes before I had to suggest to a staff member that someone should attend the call. There is a constant need for more cash despite already paying more than £1200 per week, in fact, we were asked for £10 while there visiting so he could get a haircut. I've got photos of all.
I am so happy to have found this place for my mum. The staff are lovely that go above and beyond, and are very good at keeping me aware of any changes or worries. I get an update every time she is seen by a GP, and my mum seems happy there and settled in really quickly. She has had a few problems recently, but the staff do everything to make sure she is looked after and will spend extra time with her if needed to ensure she is content. I could not recommend enough.
My father is 95 and immobile. He is well cared for and likes the people that help him. He is limited in his use of the facilities, but they are adequate for him when he needs them. I like the fact that I get emails from his nurse if he has treatment or is seen by a GP. As I live 150 miles away, this can be reassuring.
My father moved to Derwent Lodge a few months ago, and I found all the staff caring and considerate. It has also given me peace of mind knowing my father is being well cared for. A well-run care home staffed by people who care.
My mother has been at this care home for several years and she can be quite difficult and demanding to deal with at times, but the staff are always very caring and empathetic towards her. All the rooms are modern, bright and clean. If my Mum has medical or personal issues, the nurses have always been very quick to inform me and keep me updated.
Staff are considerate and give ladies a hug. The place is good and clean.
