View Full Details of St Michael's Nursing HomeWe chose this home for my father because of the positive, committed and caring attitude of the staff. St Michael's is kept very clean and the food, which is prepared on site, is very good. My father enjoyed taking part in the varied activities and made friends amongst the residents. He was very happy here.
After my wife's 8-month residency, I have found St Michaels to be very professional including registered nursing. The staff are always helpful and well trained, and the food is good. The activities are excellently arranged by very warm personnel.
My Dad has been at St.Michael's for just over a year now and it has made such a difference to him. Previously he had got to a stage where he was no longer able to manage in his sheltered accommodation, even with family support and carers and after a spell in hospital it became clear he needed somewhere with 24-hour care. After looking at different options and also trying another nursing home for a respite stay, we decided that St. Michael's may be a more suitable home for Dad. We had previously had a good experience when an Aunt had been there 3 years before. Since Dad has been at St.Michael's his health has improved significantly. He is happy and content as he knows he is well looked after. All of the staff are excellent and it is always reassuring that the staff remain the same, unlike some other homes that experience a quick turnover of staff. Our family are very grateful for all the care that Dad is given, it has made such a difference to him and also to us.
I have recently helped my parents move to St Michael's from their flat where they were independently living. It was a hard decision and difficult to find somewhere with a double room. They are 100 and 96 years old and have been married for 74 years. They have settled in well and Mum is beginning to make use of the activities provided. Dad is less keen to join in but is being looked after extremely well by all the staff ensuring he eats and drinks well and all his personal care is seen to with dignity. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming.
The person who I am writing about has been in the care of St Michael's since May 2023 until her passing on the 8th of January 2024. In my opinion, she was given the best care throughout her time at St Michael's. All the staff are friendly and dedicated to looking after the residents. Lots of activities to keep them occupied and entertainment several times a week, which happens in the common room/lounge, including a sing-along/chess/ quizzes and many more activities. As the illness progressed, she was confined to bed, where she had good care given to her by both the care staff and nurses.
My mother came to St Michael’s in very poor health after a very severe illness. Due to the care and attention she has received she has now regained her strength and mobility. The staff were also very supportive of me in a very distressing time. Unfortunately due to the onset of dementia, she can no longer return to her own home but she now sees St Michael's as her home. The staff are lovely with her and encourage her to join in activities and the food is excellent.
My mother-in-law was admitted in April 2023 after discharge from hospital. She was only ever treated with respect and kindness by all the staff. She went on an outing which she thoroughly enjoyed, which must have been a big effort by the staff. We were kept fully informed of her condition at all times. There were no visiting restrictions which was very helpful. The staff always had a ready smile.
My dad has been at St Michael's since April, for respite care initially. From day one, the staff have been great. They are all very friendly, helpful, caring, reassuring when needed and supportive. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff work hard to arrange activities to keep residents entertained and engaged - not an easy task I’m sure, but all done with a lot of smiles and encouragement.
My wife lost her mobility and was admitted to A&E on 13th February 2023. After more than six weeks in the hospital, she had not regained her mobility - she needed assistance from a nurse to get out of bed when she moved to St Michael's on the 24th of March 2023. She prospered in the caring atmosphere of the care home. She tells me that the food is outstanding. After less than two weeks at St Michael's, she had regained her mobility, with the aid of a frame, and has returned home. This excellent result is a monument to the wonderfully caring staff at the home, managed by a dedicated and dynamic manager.
I am a resident of St Michael's and have been here for over a year. I have always found the care staff pleasant and very helpful. The nursing staff are professional and knowledgeable. Management staff are very pleasant, and all the staff are very welcoming to visitors. Food is of a very high standard, and tea/coffee is always available. Cleanliness is excellent with a good group of maintenance staff. I would recommend this care home to anyone that is looking for good, safe nursing care for themselves or a relative.
Mum was a resident for about two and half years at St Michael's. She would tell us constantly that she was well looked after. It was evident from our visits that the staff did everything to make her comfortable and fulfil her needs, especially as she became frailer. As a family, we were kept well informed of all aspects of Mum's care. Mum's room was clean and well-appointed, and the quality of the food was really quite exceptional. In our opinion, any care establishment is only as good as the staff that work and run it. I find it hard to believe that you would find it better than our experience of St Michael's.
Very welcoming. Most of the staff are outstanding. My husband is well looked after. My husband is fussy with food, so would like the staff to offer him more suggestions. The activities are very good; however, my husband chooses not to join in, however much I try to encourage him.
My stepmother was a resident of St Michael's for two and half years prior to her recent passing. She suffered from dementia and severe mobility issues. She was cared for with the utmost dignity throughout her stay by all the staff that she had dealings with (management, nurses, carers, activity coordinators, kitchen staff, reception, maintenance etc), she was treated like the unique individual she was right until the end. My dad visited his wife on a very regular basis, and all the staff welcomed him into the home and made him feel special. Although she was at St Michael's through the majority of the Covid pandemic, they kept communications with the family open with regular phone calls and strict testing in place when the limited visiting was in place. We attended a number of the events once restrictions had been lifted, and it was good to see the residents having fun. Thank you so much to the manager and your team for all the love and care you showed her; it is so much appreciated.
My grateful thanks to St Michael's for its tender and devoted care of my wife over the last two years of her severally disabled l life. The staff were professional, but the comfort and care of the residents came first. This came from the management that instilled this ethos. Very well done.
Nan stayed here for two weeks of emergency respite care. The manager and team are kind and caring, and our nan was quickly feeling much better. They took charge of her medication by temporarily registering her with their GP and took all the worry away from us. Our nan particularly likes the conservatory and garden. Great communication and support. Many thanks. Would not hesitate to recommend St Michaels.
My brother has received the most excellent care and treatment whilst being a resident in St Michael's Nursing Home. The staff are always responsive and positive when I have enquired about any aspect of my brother's care and welfare. I am very confident in every aspect of his continuing care. A most excellent management team! Well done.
My mother, who celebrated her 99th birthday last week, has been at St Michael's for just over a year. Unfortunately, this time has been through the Covid pandemic, which has severely restricted visiting arrangements, requiring testing and restrictions of numbers. However, through this difficult time, the staff have impressed me by providing attentive care and providing my mother with any assistance as required. Being confined to her bed, my mother is not able to attend any events arranged by the home, so I have not been able to attend any to give a rating for these. As social services are fully funding this placement, I am not aware of the cost of the room, but "value for money" would seem to be acceptable to them.
Our mum has had several homes where she has not been cared for properly. We found St Michael's by chance. I called the office and spoke to a friendly administrator who said there was availability for Mum. I raced to the home on my bike and was shown two lovely, spacious, clean rooms. I saw all around the home and ground,s and as soon as we said Mum would be happy there, then everything was organized by St Michael's to move Mum. Nothing has been too much trouble. Mum always looks clean and warm, and most important of all, she is happy. We know we will be contacted if there are any concerns regarding Mum, and likewise, the home never minds if we contact them. The staff are all happy and are a really good team, who look after their residents as they would their own family. I wish we could have found this home first for Mum. Well done, St Michael's.
My husband has only been with you for a couple of weeks and is still adjusting to living in a care setting. He is very reluctant to bother anyone if he needs help and needs to be encouraged to join in with activities.
When my mother arrived at the home, we were met by several members of staff. They were very friendly and extremely helpful with accompanying Mum and assisting me with carrying in Mums belongings. Unfortunately, Mum was admitted to hospital after a couple of weeks but is now back in the home. Everyone has been very caring, patient and understanding with my brother and myself when we ring for updates. We are very pleased with Mum's care in these difficult times.
