View Full Details of Brendoncare StildonWe used Brendoncare Stildon for two weeks respite after a hospital stay for Mum. We found the home ourselves as the ones that had come recommended from the hospital team were not suitable. The staff were very welcoming and Mum was made to feel comfortable. The room was en-suite and spacious, clean and warm. Staff were friendly, meals delicious and lots of choices, activities every day if Mum wished to participate. Although it was only a short stay, I would not hesitate to use the home again.
There was no question of which local care home to choose for my stepfather as staff at Brendoncare Stildon had lovingly cared for my wife's mother, father and aunt. At least eleven of the staff from seven or more years ago are still there! Excellent evidence of a happy place. The staff cared for my stepfather wonderfully well and enabled him to enjoy his 101st birthday!
Mum came to Brendoncare Stildon in November 2023 at the age of 96, after a three-month stay in hospital. The care, consideration and love shown to my mum and to me and my family has been outstanding. All the staff, the cleaners, maintenance, reception, cooks, activity coordinators and managers, are all so friendly and caring and Mum feels so at home there. As time has gone on, Mum is not so able to join in as much as she did but the staff always check in on her frequently and stop for a chat, they go above and beyond. My sister and I and all the family are so pleased that we found Brendoncare Stildon and would definitely highly recommend them.
My father moved into one of the supported Mews flats just over two years ago. The flat was light and airy, with everything he needed to be self-sufficient while providing the confidence that help would be available if ever needed. From that start, all the staff were welcoming and attentive and Dad immediately felt at home in this happy and caring environment. Recently, after a short stay in hospital resulting in a terminal prognosis, the admin staff went out of their way to facilitate his discharge back to a palliative care room at Brendoncare Stildon. Dad was so pleased to be able to return to the place where he felt so loved and cared for and the nursing staff were superb in ensuring he remained comfortable and peaceful in his final days. I cannot thank everyone enough for their professionalism, kindness and concern - both for Dad and for the family - throughout this period and would not hesitate to recommend Stildon.
Having viewed several nursing homes, we chose Stildon for my Mum as the staff we met were friendly and helpful, the room on offer was bright and clean, and the services and facilities seemed ideal. My, 100-year-old, Mum has been there for almost a year now and I have had no cause to regret the decision. The staff are cheerful, efficient and helpful. Mum's room is kept clean and we were able to personalise it with some of her possessions. She has food intolerances and difficulty eating but the chef has gone out of his way to tailor her menu to her needs. They arrange regular activities and entertainment which residents are encouraged, but not pressured, to join in with. All in all, I have no hesitation in recommending Stildon to anybody seeking a nursing or care home.
My dad was placed in this care home for end-of-life care. He was awarded CHC funding. My dad had already arrived at the care home and for some reason the funding was 'pending'. On arrival, the admin was very officious, uncaring and rude and demanded I pay £11,000 for the first month (I think) of care and wanted to know details of how much Dad's home was worth. As you can imagine, this was very stressful on top of what I was dealing with. My dad was dying. I was heartbroken and she only cared about this payment and gave me a deadline for paying it. Lucky for me, the district nurse just happened to be visiting and she summoned the management who sorted it out. From that day on, the admin did not speak to me or acknowledge me. I had to walk past her office daily to get to my dad's room. The care my dad received was excellent, the staff were very very kind and supported me too. The manager did help with the admin situation and could not have been more lovely.
Mum came to Brendoncare Stildon in Nov 23 at the age of 94. She was welcomed by everyone and we personalised her room to resemble her room at home as much as possible as well as the flowerbed outside her door where we planted a lot of her flowers from her own garden. There is always some sort of activity but Mum chose to have lunch with everyone and then enjoy her afternoon in her room watching all the quizzes on the TV. But enjoyed any special parties, fetes, singers and really enjoyed a day at the races this year. Mum was taken ill in September and admitted to hospital and told everyone she just wanted to get back to her lovely home. When we knew it was the end of life, we just wanted to get her back to have her final days at the home but she was too ill to move and she passed away 30 hours later. So thank you Stildon for making a very hard emotional time of putting Mum in a home a lot easier for us and for caring and loving Mum the way that you did.
My dad went to Stildon for end-of-life care. He had already stayed there for a few weeks respite earlier this year and the staff welcomed him and our family back as old friends. Dad was treated with such kindness and compassion in his last days, nothing was ever too much trouble. The nursing staff made sure he was free of pain and was comfortable. The manager always made time for a chat and made sure I was informed of what was happening with Dad's care. He came into Stildon from the hospital - where it was very busy and noisy - to the peace and tranquility of Stildon and it was as if he could finally relax and he slipped away peacefully and with dignity. I have nothing but praise for the support I received from all the staff after Dad died. I would recommend Stildon to anyone looking for a friendly, caring, and homely place to look after their loved ones.
Mum appears to be very happy, especially now she is in her new room. She says most of the carers are extremely nice and considerate. One thing that would be nice would be to have her own phone as she struggles using her mobile
My mother received end-of-life care at Stildon earlier this year and her/ our experience was exemplary. From her very first hospital assessment and advising my Dad with all the paperwork in order to have her moved as quickly as possible; to the last few days of her life, the care and consideration shown by all members of staff was wonderful. Someone was always on hand to check whether Mum was comfortable or to provide a cup of tea and a smile for us all. Mum spent the last few days of her life smiling and incredibly grateful to receive such caring, friendly, and dignified treatment. Her room was spotless bright and spacious and felt like a home from home and the food was prepared fresh daily. It was comforting for the grandchildren to visit a care home and to see residents full of life and laughter. Thanks to the care at Stildon, Mum was able to end her days peacefully and contentedly; it did feel like a sanctuary to us all and made the experience easier to endure.
My mother stayed at Bredoncare Stildon for two weeks' convalescence after a joint replacement. When she arrived at Stildon, all the staff came to meet her, making her and us feel welcome. There were also some lovely, fresh flowers in her room which were much appreciated! Mum said that all the staff, from reception to cleaners, nursing and care staff, activity coordinators and managers, were friendly, kind, caring and always approachable. Mum enjoyed the meals and also the opportunity to eat in the dining room with other residents. It was a relief to me and my brothers to know that Mum was being supported, especially initially with her personal care and at night.
My mother was a resident of Brendoncare Stildon for over eight years. She was lovingly cared for all of this time with dignity and respect. Initially, she would be taken into the garden, to the dining room for meals and to the regular activities. In latter years, she became more bedridden but the staff frequently popped in to see her and spend time just ‘with’ her. Birthdays were always celebrated by on the on-duty staff singing happy birthday and a cake with candles. She adored the chance to hold the ducklings in the spring and being able to stroke my dog, Daphne, beside her on the bed. I was always greeted as a welcome member of the team and will miss the staff for their great company, support and cheerful attitude at all times. I cannot recommend Stildon too highly.
My mum went into Stildon for two weeks for some emergency respite care just before Christmas. The care she received in her opinion, and in ours, was excellent. The rooms are clean, bright and comfortable. The communal areas are bright, comfortable and homely. The staff are professional, caring, kind and patient and treated her with dignity. We were made to feel welcome every time we visited. The nursing staff liaised with us and my mum’s GP regarding her condition and pain relief. A huge weight was taken off my shoulders knowing that she was being so well looked after. My mum chose not to join in activities but there seems to be a lot going on that she could have joined in with. And the food was really good too. All in all, I would recommend Stildon to anyone that is needing somewhere to go where they feel looked after and safe. The manager is very responsive and easy to chat to and the reception and admin staff are really helpful too.
My mum was at Stildon for 16 months. She was always well cared for and comfortable. The staff were very caring and attentive, and Mum had her favourites. Her room has a warm and homely feel to it. Mum didn't wish to take part in many activities, but the programme was good and varied. The trips to the racecourse were brilliant, and being able to take Mum out to this helped her well-being. The staff ensured Mum was very comfortable and passed away pain-free and dignified. I would not hesitate to recommend Stildon.
My parents came to Brendoncare Stildon Care Home after Mum’s health deteriorated; Dad went to to keep her company but also because he’d exhausted himself caring for her. Straight away, Mum relaxed, confident she was in a safe, caring environment. She was quickly provided with a special mattress and chair to make her as comfortable as possible in spite of an increasingly painful condition. Stildon also has excellent GP links, so all concerns about her complex medication regime were allayed at a stroke. It really upset Dad to leave his own home but the staff at Stildon were so kind and caring and respectful of him. All the staff, as well as nurses and carers, took pains to get to know my parents and understand their feelings as well as health issues. Sadly, Dad passed away but his final weeks were peaceful, surrounded by staff he had come to know and trust. Stildon is a comfortable, well-equipped home which really does try to be "home" for its residents and very supportive of the family.
I moved my wife into Brendoncare Stildon from another home in the area. My family and friends have already noticed a difference in my wife, she is far calmer and responds well to the carers. I have been very impressed with all the staff, both caring and admin, who have helped the move go as smoothly as possible. The care my wife now receives is 1st class, as all of the staff have given us their time to get to know my wife and also myself, being a frequent visitor. I would have no qualms, about recommending Stildon to anyone looking for a home for a loved one, safe in the knowledge that they would receive care of the highest quality.
I am very grateful to all the staff at Brendoncare Stildon for the kind, helpful, patient and sensitive care that is given to my relative. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and positive. I have been impressed how her care has been adapted to her increasing needs and it is reassuring to know that she is in safe, professional and caring hands.
We have been extremely impressed with the excellent level of nursing and residential care provided at Brendoncare Stildon. Following a stroke, our mother is entirely reliant on the staff for all her needs. The home is always clean. Communication is good, staff are friendly, professional and respectful. Brendoncare, Stildon strive to provide an inclusive, warm and stimulating environment for which we are very grateful.
All the carers in this home are always helpful, happy and very caring. Nothing is too much to do for my dad. We can not thank them enough for all they do. I would highly recommend this top-class care home.
On making my initial telephone call to Brendoncare Stildon almost nine months ago and hearing a gentle caring voice, I felt comfortable. Questions were answered regarding respite care. Three months later when I was really in need of help and advice regarding my husband's care, that is exactly what I got once again from the person answering the telephone. My daughters and I were invited to visit, we could see the care being given. Within a week, my husband was in Stildon and everything was done to make him comfortable and help him settle in. I feel so blessed to have him being cared for by the devoted staff and I must add the chef serves delicious meals.
