My Gran moved into Westergate House in January 2025. She is so happy, and her health has improved immensely. The staff are exceptional, and it is thanks to their hard work and dedication, that this is such a wonderful home for my Gran to live. The staff are friendly, kind, caring and nothing is too much trouble. It feels like one big family. The food is homemade and tastes incredible. There are lots of activities for residents to participate in if they wish to do so. There is a minibus, so residents can go on outings. My Grans dog is allowed to visit, which she and other residents enjoy. Most importantly, I can leave my Gran knowing that she is receiving the best care from the best people and in the best place. If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, I highly recommend Westergate House

My family and I celebrated my husband's 82nd birthday today today by having Sunday lunch in the conservatory at Westergate House. There were eight of us, and we enjoyed the most delicious three course lunch. The table was laid beautifully, the service was impeccable and the food was superb. I would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work which made it so special. It was perfect for my husband, who didn't feel at all overwhelmed and seemed to really enjoy it. This is a testament to the care given by all the staff. Thank you all so very much from all my family.

I can't speak highly enough about the way in which all staff at Barchester Westergate House Care Home take such good care of my parents, who came with differing needs. They are in different areas of the building but are able to meet up whenever they wish, kindly facilitated by the staff. My parents have very specific requirements about what they want and how they like things and the team manages to successfully navigate their needs and requirements to a very high standard. The home has the feel of a small country hotel and it is always a delight to visit and enjoy a coffee and slice of delicious, homemade cake with my parents in the bistro area. The food and dining environment are excellent and there is a fantastic range of entertainment provided to suit both their needs. From the second one arrives at reception to the time one leaves, all staff are friendly, helpful, welcoming, efficient with a can-do attitude and I think it would be fair to say, above and beyond attitude. Thank you so much.

My lovely mum was a resident in Memory Lane for over three years. The nursing and care that Mum received was outstanding. The leadership in the home is exemplary. The staff have been there a long time and get to know each resident. Residents get to know all who care for them, be they managers and admin staff, nurses, carers, housekeepers, hospitality team, maintenance staff, activities team and all who run the home so smoothly. As a visitor, I have always had a warm welcome no matter when I have visited or for how long. The staff are truly amazing. The carers are kind, patient and understanding. The meals are of a very high, gourmet standard, beautifully presented and delicious. As a family, we have shared delightful meals with Mum, in delightful surroundings, including special birthdays and an amazing wedding breakfast. The care that Mum received at Barchester Westergate House Care Home for the last years of her life was exceptional. Their dignity, respect and kindness at the end will stay with me always.

My grandmother was given such wonderful treatment by Barchester Westergate House Care Home and their excellent staff. Grandma went in after a very traumatic time in hospital and another care home 3 and a half 5 years ago, and made such tremendous improvements. Her final years were a wonderful final chapter in her life, and it was wonderful to know that she was so well looked after. Thank you all so much for giving us a few extra years to spend with her.

My mother-in-law was 95 years old in July and I arranged with the home to celebrate the event with an afternoon tea for 14 adults and 3 children. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was amazing and my mother-in-law continues to talk about it. It is a wonderful home from home.

I don't think you can put a price on the level of care my aunt has here. After previous experience of another home, I now sleep soundly knowing she is safe and cared for. The staff are exceptional in their attitude, manners and professionalism. My aunt is happy for the first time in quite a few years. She says she feels as though she lives in a very beautiful hotel. Priceless. The food is also divine!

I cannot think of a more wonderful place for Mum to be than Barchester Westergate House Care Home. I live overseas and get back to England about twice a year. We have had experiences of other care facilities and the care and attention she gets here is second to none. Westergate House has my complete trust. The staff are professional and take great care of the residents while sharing a sense of fun and affection. Communication between management and staff and myself is excellent. Mum has been there a little more than three years and each time I visit, I am struck by how much love she has for her carers and they for her. Categorically, there is no other place I would want her to be.

My mother has lived in Barchester Westergate House Care Home for the past eighteen months. She had previously been fiercely independent and found it challenging to accept that she was unable to live on her own. Thanks to the amazing staff who work there, she is now content to call Westergate House her home. All the staff have been absolutely wonderful. They always have time for the residents. It could be something as simple as a cheerful word, a smile or a little wave as they go about their work. It all helps to make Mum feel welcome and included on a daily basis.

My wife has been a resident at Westergate House for over 9 years and is now in the advanced stage of dementia and requires high-dependency nursing care. Throughout this period I have been impressed with the professionalism and care provided by the excellent team of nurses, carers, caterers, cleaners and the activity group who are particularly well led by the General Manager - overall they are exemplary. The staff are open and friendly providing loving care for the residents. I have always felt that my wife is safe, and her welfare is in good hands at Westergate House. Most importantly when things occasionally do go wrong, I have been informed immediately and matters have been resolved. My whole family have confidence in the Westergate House team and we are very grateful for the loving care they have provided.

It is a wonderful place, the Manager and the staff are very friendly and approachable. Mum has settled very very well and loves her room. My wife and I live abroad, although coming back to the UK frequently, and we have now complete peace of mind knowing that mum is happy and well cared for.

Where do I start? Both my parents resided here but my mother passed away very recently. The staff are simply wonderful. If I need care in the future please let it be here. I don’t think I can put it more succinctly or wholeheartedly than that.

Am so pleased my husband is a resident of Wesrergate House. All these are very caring and have his best interests at heart whatever their role at the home, from the nurses, carers, housekeeping, chef and team, and of course, administration, all are wonderful.

Mum spent 2 weeks having respite care, this was her first time doing this so we could attend a wedding in Spain and know that she was completely safe, cared for and comfortable. We were all a little nervous but from the beginning, Westergate House made us feel welcome and spent lots of time with Mum and adapted her room to meet her requirements with cheerfulness and professionalism. The staff, facilities, ambiance and meals were all excellent and we would thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of using this care home. Thank you, especially to the care staff who Mum enjoyed having a laugh with - you’re amazing. Mum loved her stay and I’m sure we’ll be using you again! Best wishes to you all.

Back in May this year my mother and I had to find a nursing home for my dad who was being discharged from hospital. For us as a family, this was a challenging and emotional time as we wanted to do what was right for my father as we knew that his time was limited, so choosing a special place was of paramount importance for us as a family. After doing some research Westergate House came highly recommended and after a meeting with the manager, staff and viewing the facilities we knew that this would be the right place for my dad. Right from the moment when my dad was admitted the care, compassion and professionalism shown by all were exceptional. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome and we were always kept informed of how he was doing. For us as a family, we took great comfort knowing that my father was well looked after and we simply can't thank them enough.

From the moment my wife and I walked through the front door on our first visit we found the staff at the home to be very welcoming, kind and extremely professional. It's a beautiful building with lovely grounds. The dining room is laid up like a restaurant and the food is delicious. There is a full and varied programme of activities the residents can take in if they want or they can just sit back and watch. All the staff have been so helpful in arranging Mum's admittance and looking after her, nothing is too much trouble for them. She has settled in really well and we feel very at home there too, they make us feel part of a family. We have no worries about leaving her there and we thoroughly recommend it.

My mother has been a resident at Westergate Care Home for the last five and a half years. During this time my mother who has advanced Lewy Body Dementia has been cared for amazingly. All the staff employed here go above and beyond their duties to make life at the home as comfortable, safe and secure as they possibly can. The food menu is outstanding catering for a variety of diets, with the inclusion of soft foods for those residents that have problems with swallowing. My mother has thrived way beyond expectations due to the loving care received at this wonderful care home. The nursing staff are extremely effective and efficient in what can only be described as a demanding environment and do so with many years of experience, offering compassion and understanding, not only for the residents but also for their families. I would like to thank all the staff at Westergate for taking such great care of my mother for all this time and would highly recommend this care home.

We are overjoyed at what a fabulous Care Home Barchester Westergate House is. There is so much genuine care from all of the staff. We feel like the staff have become part of our extended family, they are so kind and considerate. Choosing a care home is of course a very difficult thing to have to do for the first time, as we didn’t know how to assess which place would be best for our much-loved father. We have without a doubt found an extraordinarily great care home. I would personally recommend 300%. This is a very special place and Dad feels very secure at Westergate House. Thank you to the fabulous management, nurses, carers, head carer, activities staff, receptionist and last but certainly not least the fabulous restaurant quality food created by the very talented chefs. Supremely happy with discovering this Care Home.
