View Full Details of Barchester Rose Lodge Care HomeMy friend has been in the home 6 years and loves it here. They join in all activities and sometimes just like to watch. They have made a lot of friends here and they enjoy the nice food. All the staff in the home are very friendly and my friend's room is always kept very clean. My friend loves sitting in the lovely garden in the summer, and likes to be with people and doesn't like being on their own. My friend feels safe in the home.
My dad arrived at Rose Lodge on the Friday with a warm welcome from all members of staff and made us all feel very welcome, especially for our mum. Dad didn't have long at Rose Lodge before he passed away but I know he would have loved it there and would have joined in all the activities.
All the staff are always very friendly and helpful, activities are varied and the carers do more than "just" duty.
I would 100% NOT recommend this care home! There are some lovely staff there but sadly due to poor management, the care and professional standards are not good enough. I question what quality assurance processes they have in place to monitor the care, professional standards at ALL levels, processes of care, medication, etc. In my 25 years in senior education and care, I have not witnessed such poor communication from management when raising a concern which concerns me greatly that voices are not heard.
Mum was transferred to Barchester Rose Lodge Care Home after a three-week stay in hospital. Mum was not fully fit and was anxious and frightened. She soon settled in her comfy room and began to integrate with other residents, gained weight, joined in activities and flourished. A room became vacant and Mum moved downstairs for several weeks respite care. Her room was comfortable with an interesting view over the car park and garden, where she enjoyed watching the comings and goings of staff and visitors. The staff would always smile and wave. The staff have been amazing, Mum felt loved, respected and very well cared for, she also felt very safe. I was always kept updated and felt very happy that she was surrounded by such loving, dedicated and genuine people.
All the staff I admire for their care and understanding, I can only give a five-star report. Exceptional, always happy, even though the pressures they must go through day to day. Good parking facilities and in general, the home is kept to a very high standard.
Mum went into Barchester Rose Lodge Care Home for respite but felt so safe and well cared for there that she stayed. She always said how lovely all the staff were and how nice it was to always have someone around if she needed them. From the moment she moved in, we all felt a sense of relief to know that she was safe. But so much more than that too. We started to see her join in with things again, whether that was knitting, bingo, arts and crafts sessions or singing along to the singers who come into the home regularly. A part of her we’d known as children came back to us all. Always on her terms though! If she didn’t want to join in, there was nothing on earth that could persuade her - but the staff soon got to know her character and knew how to get the best from her. Person-centred care is something Rose Lodge is particularly good at, for the residents but also for their loved ones too. So thank you to every member of staff who looked after Mum and us so wonderfully. I will be forever grateful.
I came to Rose Lodge and I have found love and kindness from everyone. I am treated with respect and dignity.
My mum moved into Rose Lodge in August 2023 for two weeks of respite, but at the point of her return home, she said she wanted to stay. She died at Rose Lodge in February 2024. The time she had in Rose Lodge was for her and her family, mostly a very positive experience. Mum found a new lease of life. She began to engage in various activities and enjoyed socialising with staff and other residents. Although Mum is not here to give her comments to this review, she had frequently told us that the staff were all lovely and she liked that she could have as many cups of tea as she wanted and didn’t have to pay a penny! Mum always greeted us with a smile when we visited and she had lots to talk about. I will always remember that she took up knitting again, something she used to do when we were children and it was lovely to see her enjoy this once more. Without exception, the staff were all amazing, and I will forever be grateful that Mum spent the last six months of her life at Rose Lodge.
Every single staff member works hard to make Rose Lodge a safe and comfortable home, as well as a welcoming place to visit. It is a warm and friendly environment and the care/activities/support etc. provided is wonderful; I'm very grateful to everybody who works here.
This nursing home I cannot fault quite reluctant to visit as I've had a bad experience with another nursing home with the close friend of mine but the minute I walked in the door they were friendly, professional and the home is light it's clean the food is amazing and my neighbour has never been so relaxed and so happy. Every member of staff and I mean every member of staff has a smile on their face they're welcoming you walk through the door with fresh coffee if you want it I just think it's amazing and I want to thank every single one that works there.
Since 7th December, when Mum came into Rose Lodge, every visit has been excellent in terms of staff attitude/attitudes to myself and to Mum (as we are all on the journey). However, today felt moved to write something. First was the lady who was trying to get Mum to eat something; her kindness, caring and love even were just so touching to watch, that I could have hugged her. Then another staff member, when she needed to change her pad, just such a loving attitude towards Mum. Then so good to me regarding explanations of things, both were exceptional.
The respite care afforded, at short notice, to both my parents-in-law was excellent overall. The staff were friendly and encouraging. Everyone was chatty and raised spirits. The food was enjoyed very much by both of them. It was nice to see how clean everything was. My husband and I wish to share how grateful we were at a difficult time. Many thanks to all the staff.
My auntie went to Rose Lodge Care Home for end-of-life care. My cousin and I found the home to be excellent. The room was lovely and all the staff went out of their way to help the whole family. I would definitely recommend Rose Lode as an excellent place for anyone's loved ones to stay. Thank you to everyone.
I cannot thank this care home enough for what they have done for my dad. He has thrived in Rose Lodge. My dad could not walk after being very unwell in the hospital, he is a new man after 3 weeks here. Walking to dinner and enjoying having cups of tea in the cafe area with other residents. The staff can't do enough for him from cleaners, carers, nurses, activities lady, hairdresser and cooks! The lovely happy staff speaks volumes. Made me very welcome when visiting also. Thank you so much.
Whilst visiting my father, the staff are friendly. My father is well cared for; his room is clean and well looked after. My father is treated with respect and dignity, and his likes and dislikes are known by the staff, which shows they have taken the time to learn about my father. It gives me reassurance and comfort to know he is looked after very well by the staff. They have a full range of activities in the home, and the activities coordinator goes the extra mile. The manager and all the staff do an amazing job - can't praise them enough; thank you.
I like it here.
My father was admitted to Rose Lodge for a short-term recovery period, funded by social services, following a lengthy hospital stay. I was very impressed with the care and support given to him and me. I would be very happy to use this care home again, if needed.
I have enjoyed my time here. Love the staff.
I cannot thank the amazing staff of Rose Lodge enough for the care they have shown to my amazing 91 years young mum; she has come back to life since she arrived here just before the first lockdown. She loves the music provided. Simply the best!
