View Full Details of Clarence House Residential HomeI can not thank the staff enough at Clarence House, my mum spent 6 weeks with them, her care was outstanding. Every member of staff is caring, thoughtful, and professional, they did their very best for her. I was always made welcome, kept up to date with any concerns. The building is old but very clean, the residents all seem happy and cared for to a high standard, I had my worries when making the decision to admit Mum into a home, I need not have worried. They looked after my mum very well, I will be forever grateful.
My wife transferred to Clarence House six weeks ago. During her stay, she has begun to feed herself again, after not doing so for the last two years. Her general demeanour has improved noticeably. I feel that the improvement is due to the general routine at Clarence House and efforts of staff to engage with the residents. The staff at Clarence from management through to laundry, kitchen, housekeeping and the excellent carers do their best to meet the needs of residents. Clarence House is very pleasing on the eye, with an excellent location. Rooms are an excellent size and everywhere is immaculately clean.
Prior to entering Clarence House, my husband was living a solitary lifestyle. Since then, and with encouragement from the carers, he has been enjoying meals and activities with the residents. His weight has increased due to the excellent food he receives, and he is enjoying the interactions with the other residents. His room is very comfortable. The house is very clean; however, the decor is dated but is familiar to the elderly folk, so it is not a problem.
My father has been a resident for about 19 months now. Staff are friendly, polite and work really hard, even when under pressure. The staff have always addressed any concerns myself and other family members have had. The home feels like one big family and feel when I visit I'm included. They host special events that family can come along to, the fireworks last year were amazing and a great night for everyone. They have always contacted me with any issue with my father and made me aware. I can honestly say it's a lovely, warm and inviting home.
My Uncle has been in Clarence House for two weeks now and already I can see an improvement in him. He desperately wanted to return home after a long hospital stay but sadly it wasn't to be. I was apprehensive about how he would settle but I really had no need to worry. I live 150 miles away and it's so reassuring to know he is in safe and caring hands. The staff at Clarence House are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you can see that they really care about their residents. There are lots of activities taking place and all of the residents look happy. He completely lost his appetite when he was in hospital and the staff are going above and beyond to cater for him. Big thank you to all the staff for your thoughtfulness, compassion and hard work.
My mother has quite involved care needs. She has severe dementia but is physically perfect and extremely mobile. As a result she can get herself into lots of trouble and very quickly. I looked after her for two years and I know how difficult she can be to keep out of harm's way. The team at Clarence House were able to identify her specific needs very quickly, they allocate a staff member to be with her during all her waking hours, they care for her and are doing a better job than I ever could. They have dealt with her incontinence needs and she is now using the toilet. That's the first time she has done that for three years now, I never managed that during my care. Clarence House are fighting her corner with the social services to ensure her assessments are accurate to her needs and that she receives the care she needs. They are also thoroughly nice people. The place is clean, they treat all with kindness and respect. It feels like an English hotel from my childhood.
I have no problems to report on Clarence House. My Mother who is 98 years old has had brilliant care. The staff are very caring and good to talk to and look after the patients so well.
My 91 year old aunt spent the last week of her life at Clarence House before finally being admitted to hospital where she passed away on April 15th. I cannot praise too highly the staff at Clarence House - all of them are kind, compassionate, and treated my aunt with respect and dignity, even when she was irritable! The home really feels like a home, not a hospital or a prison, and it doesn't smell bad like some others do. The sea views are very uplifting and give Clarence House a genteel feel - you can really see why it was once a hotel: what a lovely location. I would have no hesitation in recommending Clarence House to anyone looking for either respite care, like my aunt, or longer term care, and I would certainly consider it myself if and when I needed care. Thank you very much to the staff who helped care for a very frail old lady whom I loved very much.
